Arsenal question
Hi,
I bowl on a modified house shot (8-8, slightly more oil in the track). My strongest ball is a Guru Master (layout 55 x 4.25 x 35). Right now, I'm using a Primo Pearl (60 x 4.875 x 35) under the Master. According to which side of the house I'm on, at times, the Primo would be not enough, while the Master could be too much. I also have a Reax V2 Solid that I havent used in awhile since I am unsure how it would react (layout 35 x 3 x 65). Could the Reax V2 fit between the Master and Primo? Also, the layout 35 x 3 x 65, what type of reaction should I expect from that, so I know which type of condition it is best suited for?
My tilt is 13 degrees, PAP is 3.75 over, 1 up, I have medium to medium-high speed and i have medium rotation. I am slightly speed dominate.
Thanks for your help

Re: Arsenal question
The Guru is too strong meaning that it's covering too many boards, you can't keep it in the pocket, or ...? Can you move deeper into the oil and increase the skid phase?
Alternately, the Primo might be going too long with that layout and pin position. Consider adding a little surface with a 4000 (or possibly 2000) grit Abralon pad and get it to read sooner. The Primo Solid fits perfectly between the Master and the Pearl, but you may get what you need with a little surface.
Gary Faulkner's Radical Reaction Chart
Move a few boards outside with the Primo, or inside with the Master and experiment with surface and angles to get the ball to transition properly given the conditions.

Thanks! I will put a 2000 on the primo. Currently, it is polished over 2000.stevespo wrote:The Guru is too strong meaning that it's covering too many boards, you can't keep it in the pocket, or ...? Can you move deeper into the oil and increase the skid phase?

What are your thoughts on the Reax V2 I mentioned? Still confused on what type of conditions would work best with that drilling and the current surface (2000)?

Is there a balance hole?
A high friction broken down short oil pattern, the shorter pin to PAP is not helping make this a very usable ball for you.

Here is a picture of the ball. The large weight hole was due to the cg being offset to the right of the pin and mb. I can only use this ball on dirt or a broken down short oil pattern?

Too shiny for you Glenn.
Hit that ball with a fresh 1000 pad!

Re: Arsenal question
It would be best suited for high friction conditions. I wouldn't be trying to use it on a fresh 40' pattern.GBuck wrote:I can only use this ball on dirt or a broken down short oil pattern?
Another way to play that ball would be with less rotation, otherwise I think carry will not be the best. You might be able to get it to the pocket, but will it be rolling?
Like Mega suggested, more surface will raise the friction level to make it more usable.

Which pad do you recommend for my Primo Pearl?

Re: Arsenal question
I will be bowling in a tournament this weekend and the pattern is Stockholm (34 ft). Will this ball work well on it? Should I have the surface at 1000, or bring it down to 500?EricHartwell wrote:

Re: Arsenal question
I would take it down to 500 to break in the line around the 5/6 board.
Ideally you would want something with a more forward rolling pin position. Hopefully you can start up the boards. The 3" pin to PAP is going to make a rather long hook zone with the 65* VAL angle. The lower grit surface will help get into a roll sooner, hopefully before it hooks too much.

Thanks! Which pin position would be ideal? These are some of the layouts that I have:EricHartwell wrote:I would take it down to 500 to break in the line around the 5/6 board.

Re: Arsenal question
Just throw the shot and see how it reacts.
My guess is the guru master will be your best look on the fresh but after that it is anybodies guess on how they transition.
Your best option is go in with a variety of surfaces and throw the ball over first arrow as far out as your skills can handle and see how it reacts and move off of that.
