My knee replacement in 10 days. That will be end of July!
The need to be competitive at the start of the season concerns me.
I'd be happy if I could just stroke it down the lane!
Recovery info says bowling as a low impact activity can be resumed after 3 months. (I think that's the opinion of those who don't consider bowling a sport!)
Any bowlers have any experience with this?

Re: Knee replacement recovery time?
One of my good friends that bowls 3 times a week had his left one replaced 2 years ago and it was a 6 month rehab if I remember correctly. Good luck buddy!

Re: Knee replacement recovery time?
I had heard that a knee replacement is a longer recovery than a hip. I had a hip done in early Dec, and I know a guy who claims he had his knee replaced the day before me. I have to assume that is what he had, yet he also said he went home the day of the surgery?? Well I know this is not an apples to apples comparison but I was subbing back on my team in about 7 weeks. That guy told me he was back to his team a few WEEKS before I was back and even shot 300. He is older and bigger than me. But I hope that gives you some idea. I just followed the rehab steps to a tee and it helped. Modern medicine is pretty awesome these days. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

Had my slide leg (knee ) replaced a little over 2 years ago...best thing I had done in 18 yrs since the right one was replaced...do the rehab and things will turn out fine..if ..you get a good job done and hopefully that will happen...you will know when it is ok to pick up a ball and do some one step drills...get the bend in place and the strength in the leg again, should be in a coupe of months to three and you"ll be back at it...Steve S

Re: Knee replacement recovery time?
I had slide knee replaced little over 3 months ago and just started doing 1 step drills. I don't feel I will be bowling normal soon. I hope i'm wrong.
