Help raising tilt

Post by trackbowler »

I am about 4 weeks back into bowling after injuring my index finger and taking 8 weeks off. I remeasured my stats and my tilt has dropped from 12 down to 7 (measured distance across the track). I finally feel like I'm back to full strength but the loss of tilt is very noticeable. Some of my stuff has become unusable and once the lanes begin to dry out I'm lost (this is partially due to not being able to stand in front of the ball return). My average from the 1st to 3rd game drops off 20-30 pins, mainly due to splits.

Is there any drills that anyone recommends to increase tilt, or a performance fit. Although I would prefer to not have to redrill my equipment if possible.

My PAP also transitioned from 5 11/16 over by 1/4 up to 4 15/16 over by 3/4 up.

I'm looking at getting a tropical breeze to aid in my late game woes, if a layout could be recommended as well.

My current arsenal is:
Hypercell 70 x 3 1/4 x 35 --not being used
Reax Gusto 80 x 2 3/4 x 40 w/ small p3 x 1 1/2 deep --not being used
Grease Monkey 70 x 3 3/8 x 45 w/ p2 13/16 x 1 1/2 deep @ 4k
300C solid 70 x 5 1/8 x 45 @ 4k w/ polish

Two things to try - tuck your pinkie finger and cock your wrist towary your pinkie finger. I suspect that as you practice more your specs will trend back toward what they used to be. -- JohnP

Given that your fit is from the wiki page, try this:

Decrease middle finger span by 3/32 and add 9/16 forward pitch to whatever is currently there.

Next, increase ring finger span by 3/32 and add 9/16 reverse pitch to whatever is currently there.

That should increase it for sure. I also second tucking the pinky which will increase axis rotation so be aware!
