Re: Of Dual Patterns and Practice Gambits
The problem is not so much the lane conditions, it's forcing yourself out of your comfort zone to make adjustments. Too many times I hear that the lanes broke down, that carry down is prevalent, too many people using plastic or urethane, or whatever else. Now there are times where you find a groove,...

Re: How to adjust when everyone on lanes are using urethane
Square it up on top of them. Medium shelled reactive ball, medium symmetric core, weaker layout, plenty of surface with forward roll. Better learn to roll it to beat these urethane clowns . You cant turn it with reduced traction on the backend. Beat them at their own game and actually carry the cor...

Re: How to adjust when everyone on lanes are using urethane
IMO, You have plenty of options open to you. Carry down side: If there is carry down on the right side, give your ball some more time on the lane by moving back on the approach. You may want to try a ball with a high diff which will give you more backend(but avoid those mids!). Dry mid: Get a ball d...

Style purists(?).
I consume about 30+ hours a week of bowling related content. Watching vids, practicing, or just talking, it's usually bowling. I am really surprised about the conflict on bowling styles, mainly one hand traditional vs two handed(no thumb). As a one handed no thumber, I feel that any legally accepted...

Shadow Ops 900 global
(Thumbles one hander with slow ball speed) So I bought this ball a few months ago as a dry lane/low rev alternative. Last night, I brought two such balls to practice(purple hammer is the other). I was practicing on a well oiled THS in which the leagues just finished on. I was surprised just how well...

Re: Layouts are critical!
The core is so weak in the Purple Hammer layout almost does not matter. The cover being so strong and aggressive is probably the reason the ball hooked too much for you. 500 grit on a house shot is ridiculous. What was the layout on it and did you have it re-drilled ? He said he had a layout sheet ...

Re: Layouts are critical!
So I voted scores will drop(the only one so far). My reasons are as follows: Reliance on balance holes: Those that have relied on balance holes for years and years will have trouble adjusting. Ball reaction will have an initial learning curve which will produce the drop in scores and some may not re...

My first official tornament.
It was a five man team officially sanctioned USBC event. Bottom line, I flubbed it. I can't believe what happened. I felt so bad like I let the whole team down. I am embarrassed to post these scores: 130 169 146 I had the tools and the ability so what happened? Well, I was so nervous that I forgot e...

An intro. Part Two.
It was September, 2018. My friend wanted me to join his bowling league. According to what I was told, it was the second oldest in the country. I lost a lot of weight by this time and was feeling really well plus I wanted to help him out, So I said, "Why not". In the way of gear, I had the ...

An intro. Part one.
Hi! My name is Bil from NE PA(Scranton/Wiles-Barre area). I started bowling in the late 1990s. My first ball was a gray "Trac Master" Plastic from Brunswick. At that time I used my thumb and had a 120ish average. I bowled in leagues and work tornies. I picked up a brand new urethane(wish I...

Layouts are critical!
According to Mo's new no thumb layout video(which I watched at least a dozen times), he stresses that "layouts are critical". He is absolutely right and they always have been. My question for you to ponder is, If we focus on proper layouts and given the complex nature of applying layouts, ...

Re: Lane Transition
I believe that you are getting tired in your last game and might also be losing focus. A ringing/flat ten is a sure sign your are coming in light which is a sign of fatigue(IMO). Trying moving forward on the approach a half inch or an inch.
