Re: when to change the surface of a bowling ball

If you have similar layouts and surface on each of those balls, then surface changes will definitely be needed or you will have a 4 ball arsenal that will roll very much alike and not be versitile. Layouts for each of your balls would be needed to make recommendations on surfaces. What I would do is...

Re: is there a perfered axis tilt to enter roll phase?

Re: pap quistion?

Not necessarily.
If the flare characteristics are the same then yes. I have both high flaring strike balls and low flaring ones and the PAP's are different. The low flaring ones are closer to the spare ball PAP. My Taboo, high flaring, is 3/4" away from the spare ball PAP

Re: Need Help Hole location on brutal nightmare

I see you as speed dominant with low tilt, low rotation rolling an aggresive ball. Playing up the boards on the outside on a THS is where the friction is. Your low tilt and low rotation is making the ball read the lane early thus your problem not being able to get through the heads. So you move in a...

Re: Bowling and working out do not mix...

Bowling is a sport that does not descriminate due to size. There are guys like Wes Mallot all the way to Norm Duke and every size and shape in between. I have to believe there are pro bowlers that lift weights and the weight lifting regiment is "tuned" to the needs of bowling not body buil...

Re: pap quistion?

Yes, it is quite normal. Your spare ball does not flare and the strike ball does. This is because the axis on your strike ball has already migrated away from where your spare ball PAP is by the time you see it on the lane. Balls flare in the air as soon as you let it go due to the acceleration produ...

Re: Ball suggestions

If you go with the Taboo Spare ball I would suggest to drill it with low flare. Short pin with a large VAL angle or PSA on axis. Putting a strong pin 2.5"+ and a small Val angle with rev dominance will flare all the way around the ball rolling over the thumb on the back end. The core in the Tab...

Re: Drilling to lower the RG of a ball

The brunswick site only gives 1 set of numbers not for all weights. The Rg is higher and the mass bias is weaker in the 13#. Found the info from the pro shop, there was a handout in the box that showed all weights. But that is what I figured with the lightweight engineering for the lighter coers. An...

Re: Impact on ball motion for double thumb

My Dble thumb is Plastic these days I'm working with weaker balls, A double thumb on and aggressive coverstock would be just too much ball for my league play, I would be able to use it for maybe one game , Im not that comfortable trying to walk around the ball return on the right lane.

Re: Drilling to lower the RG of a ball

Finally recieved the new ball for my daughter, not what I ordered. The order for the team got totally screwed up almost didnt happen. Recieved a brunswick Aura Paranormal. Cant find specs for Rg, differential or Mass Bias strength for 13#. With that said her coach layed out the ball 60-4-50. I saw t...

Reverse is away from the grip center. Finger grips with the lifts on the front create forward pitch.

Re: Another Layout Recommendation

For oily or longer patterns to decrease length, use 60º sums. (utilizing ratios to achieve the desired break shape)
Use a higher ratio for defined/sharp motion.
Use a lower ratio for mid-lane roll.

I have told people that their ball was illegal when they seem to carry everything and are scoring well just to give them a hard time.

5 step approach slow, slow, quick, quick, slide
4 step approach slow, quick, quick, slide
I guessing that the mechanical step/approach actually has a cadence/rhythm that does not vary.

Before any criticism, my compliments on your video with the use of graphics, slo-mo and I really liked the ground level view to show the ball motion. I would like to see a comparison to another Jet product or layout rather than just the one ball with one layout. I'm a Hammer fan so I will reference ...

Re: same ball...different lines

Every time I bowl. It all depends on how the lanes are playing and how they breakdown during play. We have a couple of teams with high rev players using aggressive balls and they really tear up the oil pattern. On those nights I might start standing 15 rolling over 8 out to 5 and chase the line till...

Re: Trying to understand the ratio thing

I found a quote from Mo about Pin distances for high tilt bowlers That quote was for low tilt bowlers. For high tilt bowlers, don't use 3" to 4" pin to PAPs on asyms. unless there's lots of friction, or you're using a ton of surface with a big, strong balance hole. Use 4" to 5" p...
