Re: lateral pitches
Hello poloidrogo, image 2 is for determining your thumb lateral pitches, so when you grab a coke can like in the picture you look where your thumb points at. So if it points between your index and middle finger then you have 0 pitch lateral, depending on where your thumb points to you change the pit...

Re: Using more then 1 point targeting system help
2y2: thanks for all those articles and I watched the video and also read all the links you provided. There are 2 things I have questions on #1 after releasing the ball and looking at the 1st target, how long should you keep your eyes on the 1st target after the ball rolls over it? (too long and you...

Re: Need more rotation
With that amount of right pitch on the thumb, there´s no wonder you cannot turn your hand to release the ball. Wouldn´t it be possible that there´s a mistake and it should be 3/4 left?

Re: IRTC Review and in depth CATS review
I don´t think it´s all about the length, by the way, most of your posts are also very long posts Kajmk. I myself write lengthy posts sometimes but I try to get to the point and make it as concise as possible. The problem I see is the huge amount of useless information with one of two possibilities, ...

Re: Using more then 1 point targeting system help
The Quiet Eye Technique was originated outside of bowling, it´s a method that Joe Slowinski took from Dr. Joan Vickers from Calgary University, she developed a helmet with eye tracking technology to help athletes from a really wide range of different disciplines improve. She studied how elite athlet...

Re: ADT drill
ADT drilling feels great when you put your hand on the ball, but to release it properly is another very different beast. I had a ball drilled this way but because of the excessive left pitch it makes me overturn to release the ball, it lowered my track and if you want to throw spares with the same b...

Quoting Dr. Dean Hinitz in an article of Bowling This Month Magazine: "4. You have to know up front that virtually nothing that happens during the course of play can make you lose your cool. You have to maintain a centered sense of yourself, no matter how the pins fall, no matter what kind of b...

Re: Can't break early-turn habit... and other issues
Hello Aleksey, Rarely the problem with the release is in the release itself, the release is the consequence of all what happens before, I see many things that should be corrected before start thinking about what´s wrong with your release. As littletiger said, to make a complete assessment of your ga...

Re: when/what year did 2 handed bowling start to become popu
I recall that the first two hander on a PBA tournament was Osku Palermaa, but he hasn´t been as popular as Jason, I guess that their style started to become popular as soon as they appeared in PBA´s Tv Finals although they had been playing for many years before that. In 2006, Osku Palermaa won the Q...

Re: Can dropping you waist level give more speed and accurac
I think you only need at first to try to keep your head ahead of your feet instead of your butt behind them. When you want to correct something you have to exaggerate the correction for it to be effective.

Re: Can dropping you waist level give more speed and accurac
So based on this my current thinking is that my coach have been meaning that it is possible to accelerate tangential velocity by dropping waist level (and shoulder) on right moment and maybe also by using elastic tension (I need check this from him). Once again you´re forgetting about vector direct...

Re: Can dropping you waist level give more speed and accurac
I shared this dilema and my calculations with my good friend who has studied physics and math on university. He said that they are good enough for this case and curved motion just change direction of speed not amount of it (or at least changing direction cannot increase speed). I do not agree, in c...

Re: Can dropping you waist level give more speed and accurac
I don't remember that Juha said that elastic tension cannot be used, but that it must be used at an exact moment when it is useful because of its small duration. About the differences between Slowinski and ETBF approaches I think that ETBF is more natural and anatomically correct, the thing with my ...

Re: Can dropping you waist level give more speed and accurac
Little Tiger, your calculations are not accurate at all in the way you thought them, gravity does accelerate the ball but you're forgetting it is a curved motion, gravity is a vertical acceleration and the torque it exerts to the arm changes with the angle, you're being so simplistic with them it ma...

Re: Can dropping you waist level give more speed and accurac
When we say that the legs are the main speed generator that does not mean at all that ball speed will be equal to body speed, feet only start the kinetic chain, you have to ADD many factors such as elastic tension of the muscles, torso tilt and rotation, arm length, swing height, brake force, gravit...

Re: Can dropping you waist level give more speed and accurac
Let's take another example. On this video Osku throws very fast using just one hand: He has very high backswing yes but actually there is not so much legs speed. Come on! He's almost running, what do you mean not so much legs speed. Now why would somebody want to throw that fast? Osku only throws l...
