Re: Help with layout for 2nd IQ Tour Pearl
With 10* tilt I see you as matched speed to revs with med rotation. Benchmark 95* total 2:1 ratio 63-2.75-32 Asym, 68-4.5-27 Sym Strong 1:1 ratio 80 total Asym 40-3.5-40, Sym 45-4-35 bal Hole 2" down on the val Control 1.5:1 ratio, 115 total, Asym 70-2.5-45, Sym 75-5-40 As far as what you are a...

Re: Trying to understand the ratio thing
As i look at the recommended layouts your benchmark does not match up with the sharper layout. Also Im thinking your benchmark has been adjusted for being left handed. I was figuring your benchmark and 95 would be the total I come up with not doing anything to adjust for being a lefty. The thing I d...

Re: Trying to understand the ratio thing
I was rereading your post as you replied an I'm thinking the Stronger layout for the 912T you proposed is backwards as you suggested. For a stronger layout stronger meaning earlier the Drilling angle needs to be smaller than the benchmark, the ratio needs to be lower and lower totals. So it should b...

Re: Trying to understand the ratio thing
Was given a benchmark layout of 35x4.5x45 (on asymmetricals) which if I understand this right is a 1:1.25 ratio Let's say I'm going to make my 811CT this benchmark ball on sport shots (I would have a 912T above it and a 503T below it) Hand: left Speed: 18mph Revs: 350 Rotation: 40 Tilt: 24 PAP: 3.7...

Re: Help with layout for 2nd IQ Tour Pearl
Pro shop is recommending 40 x 3 3/8 x 30. Thoughts? Definitely a stronger layout than #1 but... My opinion... I dont really like the pro shops advice of the 3-3/8 pin, I would go for a 4" pin. This will give you the Maximun flare after drilling which is not going to be alot because of the .029...

Re: ratios
Your benchmark is usually considered a strong layout for THS. Im assuming your bowling on a typical house shot. The Nexxus is a strong ball. Personally I am better at adjusting to a weaker ball. I am not a fan of having to throw the ball as hard as I can especially at the end of a set. I am better a...

Re: ratios
Hey, all. Im soaking up all this ratio, sweet spot, wiki stuff and have another curious question. In my posts about the nexxxus that Im drilling, five of them to be exact. I was given advice on a skid flip drilling for a teammate and was told a 2:1 ratio is alot of skid flip for this ball and this ...

Re: Need Tournament layout recommendation
You are very speed dominant. 90* total is probably too high, so your observation of your ball never getting into a roll is expected. Does your first Nightmare 50°x4.5x40° work better as the lanes break down? It looks to me like it is a control layout except for the 4.5" pin, an Asym control lay...

Re: Sym. Pin-to-PAP distance
Hey there, My question(s) is probably a simple one to most of you. The pin-to-pap distance on a symm. bowling ball. You get a long pin-to-pap flare is reduced. You get a short pin-to-pap distance, and the flare is reduced. Longer pin-to-paps have later breakpoints. Shorter pin-to-paps have earlier ...

Re: Ball and layout advice please
Has she rolled at the new house? I would see how the 30 x 4.5 x 50 rolls and adjust with surface or balance hole as necessary. The actual drilling angle is far from the desired 30* without a balance hole. The PSA on a Symetrical is close to the thumb. A balance hole 2" down from the midline on ...

Re: Change in PAP from ball to Ball
For what is worth. My opinion would be to Benchmark your PAP. For this the initial axis would be used. Taken from a ball with no flare. Balls flare in the air, have different Rg contours, also lower Rg balls are easier to put more rpms at release. Thus different PAP measurements from ball to ball wh...

Re: layout question?
I have a Critical Theory and a Rip-r drilled 45 x 5 x 35 at oob surface. Both are nice until I get on the longer heavier stuff. I was wondering should I ball up with the same layout or use a better layout for the longer or heavier. Here are my stats. Left handed 4 1/8 > 1/4 up PAP 300-350 REV RATE ...

Re: layout question?
Oldschoolstroker, your layouts/balls are are already kind of for longer/heavier. I say kind of because I question the 5" Pin to PAP, I'm thinking you would benefit from a shorter Pin to PAP, 2-1/2"-3". I think it would help with the continuation through the pocket, drive through the p...

Re: Negative Tilt
So really there are no set rules for negative tilt. It all depends on the PAP and initial track. Then all you need is a full understanding of how to manipulate the axis migration about the Rg contour of a given ball, have Blueprint software or a previous guinea pig experiment.
Sounds simple enough.
