Re: Bowlmor AMF merger
I have been warning people of this "direction" for 40 years. Started via Fair Lanes in the spring of '72. Wally Hall wrote a good summary of the "new AMF's" business model. A good article to read if one wants to get a good sense of the "merger". My sense their emphasis...

Re: ball polish
Is this a debate on polishes or carnuba and/or other waxes? I believe most people that have refinished a bowling ball, whether it's a pro shop or at home on a personal spinner, have used some type of polish. Polish is an abrasive that cuts the sanding swirls, wax is a coating that fills the valleys ...

Re: Bowlmor AMF merger
The success of Shannon and Bowlmor just goes to show the "the old way of doing business" is losing most proprietors additional revenue streams. Just opening the door, is no longer a viable business model in the bowling industry. Local promotions, in remodeled or updated centers is the new ...

First off, this thread is SOOOO SICK.

Car insurance, health insurance, life insurance, AARP, credit cards, and more I can't remember. The only one I appreciate is the monthly link to the truncated version of BJ interactive.Bdgf99 wrote: I have never received these emails. Are they for the USBC Mastercard?

Re: USBC / Awards??
So if I am a bowler who never bowls in any tournaments and has a near zero chance of ever shooting 300 or 800, why do I want to pay a sanction fee? Not that the awards we've been getting over the past several years have had any value or made any difference (unless you were one of the ones who got a...

Re: USBC / Awards??
Fact: the youth pay $17.00 for Standard membership, the local keeps $2.00, $.050 goes to state and $14.50 goes to National. They can't afford awards anymore ($14.50) but the local who gets $2.00 can? It's no longer the value of the awards that drives membership.......it's the fact that those who pu...

Re: USBC / Awards??
It is MY understanding, that starting in the fall season of 2014-15, the local associations will take over all awards cost and each local can choose which awards will be given. Along with this change the USBC board also approved the local associations to charge ANY local sanction dues to run the loc...

Re: tape on ball for rotation
In low light situations or with an inexpensive video camera, the 4.5" strip of tape gives an accurate visual as to axis point in 1/2 rotation of ball.distjamb wrote: Anything more than just on the PAP would be confusing for rotation This is the common practice for checking rev rate.

Re: conventional grip release
Thumb exits first, then fingers if the release is executed properly. I bowled a house this year that was (over) hooking a ton and I switched over to a conventional grip for 12 weeks or so. It had zero (negative) impact on scores.

Re: Drill Press in Garage OK?
As long as you get plenty of air circulating and maybe some heat, to keep the machine steel as dry as possible, when the cold/warm cycle causes condensation. If it's an attached garage, some insulation and a single heat duct/vent should solve the largest part of the condensation problem.

Re: amf sidewinder drill press??
Thanks, I understand. The only problem I see is getting the cradle set at dead center, my 3600 has some "slop" there. But that would only shift the grip center maybe 1/4" at the most, probably not significant. -- JohnP If your 3600 is similar to the 2500, then set the span at the lon...

Yes, I broke one of them myself. I think we bought the last two that Innovative had. I've still got one new one and two used ones that are pretty badly scratched up. Since they're irreplaceable I'm going to hang onto them. George -- please explain the extra step required if you don't have a target ...

Re: amf sidewinder drill press??
Understanding the AMF 2500 requires a slightly different mindset. Once you come to terms with drilling horizontal and the adjustments needed, the use of the machine becomes second nature. JohnP is correct that the thumb is easy and will be accurate once you get used to the machine. The fingers, now ...
