Re: My attempted return after 5 months with shoulder problem
Hi Krava, When doing weight lifting only do partial range of motion movements in your strongest position. Take the Bench Press as an example. Your strongest range of motion when doing the Bench is two to four inches below a fully extended lock out. The range of motion should only be an inch or two a...

Re: Voss: Plan to fix bowling - Chad Murphy's response
Interesting commentary by Voss, Bellmonte, Murphy and others. TWO HANDED BOWLERS: At least Voss changed his stance somewhat on 2 handed bowlers at his conclusion. I do not have a problem with them. I think it is harder to master than one handed, and it may be physically more taxing as one gets older...

Re: Guru Supreme Video - A Versatile Fast Reading Asymmetric
Are there any of the Radical balls that are not monsters in the oil? While I would love to throw Radical equipment and take advantage of the technology, given my stats there just is not enough oil to use them on a THS. Why not make a line of balls that do not hook so much, but still give the advanta...

Re: Fitness
There are a wide variety of ways to strength train. All of them do something, but only a few are efficient. There are so many opinions in the gym, but very few are backed up by real scientific data. Most are based on tradition more so than science, and when tradition has been around for a long time ...

Re: Sport bowling does and don'ts
You could be right. It could also be a combination of the two issues. But since I know my brother's style as well as his buddies I tend to lean toward the bad lane play strategies and THS layouts.

Re: Sport bowling does and don'ts
There were a decent amount of good bowlers that bowl on a house shot here locally who went down to Reno for the nationals this year and they "all" got their butts kicked because their equipment was set up for a house shot and it showed. I saw this coming.... before they even bowled at nat...

Re: Sport bowling does and don'ts
I understand the arguments against the intent of this thread when applied to general bowling and, may we call it, sub-optimal sport bowling (defined as sport bowling other than at the pro level). That is not a term to demean any who do sport bowling other than at the pro level. It is just a term to ...

Re: Sport bowling does and don'ts
The scientific way to solve this issue would be to have Liz and Kelly bowl again on the same condition, but with Kelly using a ball with Liz's layout and surface and Liz using a ball with Kelly's layout and surface.

Re: Sport bowling does and don'ts
While my knowledge base on this subject is not very high, nor is my eye as good as yours, I would like to try. Based on your intro on how this lane condition should be attacked Liz's layout from what I could see had a short pin to pap distance. The Val angle looked large, which would provide a smoot...

Re: Shoulder injury causes from bowlingball.com anyone else
Usually when one has shoulder issues on one side and there has been no major traumatic event to cause it the other shoulder has also weakened. This is a by product of the lifestyles people living in this country choose to live. Poor eating habit coupled with poor exercise routines will yield to poor...

Re: Thumb shrinks and or swells and causes release problems
My thumb size also fluctuates from time to time. I just use bowlers tape to compensate for any thumb size changes. As a result, I do not have this kind of problem anymore. I actually prefer the feel of the tape over the feel of urethane.

Re: 10 pin adjustments?
You bring up some good points, however, when is the last time you saw a league bowler re-rack because of off-spot pins? It rarely happens in league, despite the fact that the USBC allows unlimited re-racks. As for poor maintenance, the ultimate responsibility for a center's lack of proper maintenan...

Re: 10 pin adjustments?
Exactly right! Find the causal factors, or don't. It really doesn't matter. That's my point. It doesn't matter why the ten pin is left standing. It's a matter of figuring out how to knock it down! I understand that one must find the cause. I certainly agree with this. The absolute cause it not nece...

Re: 10 pin adjustments?
I disagree with the statement that "houses are not noted for leaving ten pins". Centers that have good maintenance and keep the pins on spot, keep the gutters in shape, etc than I would agree. But there are many centers that do not do that. As a result, poorly maintained centers with the p...

Re: Using older bowling balls: worth it or not?
I have an old Black Hammer with a Motion Hole layout that I experimented with one season. On fresh house shots I play straight up 9, and because the Motion Hole creates flare in this ball I have no carry down issues and did not worry about transitions, because no matter the amount of bowling traffic...

Re: Bowling results after switching hands.
Ok I saw your results on the other thread. With that being said here is what I have my patients do with torn shoulders. To help reduce swelling use ice 5 minutes at a time and than allow one hour before doing it again. This protects against frost bite. You only want to cool down the area of inflamma...

Re: Injury Update: Need Help if Possible with this
Thanks for all the help there. It calmed my nerves down a bit. I am still not sure how I injured it except what you said about not using it and being rusty. I guess going to the gym doesn't do everything. I was doing over head press with the entire weight stack (150lbs on each hand for 4 sets of 10...

Re: Injury Update: Need Help if Possible with this
Got the results back from the MRI but the stupid doctor doesn't want to tell me anything until Tuesday. Another DR I guess read the MRI and wrote the results down on this piece of paper I picked up today. I can't talk to him and don't know anything about human anatomy. If anyone out there knows any...
