Re: USBC Dues?
Substitutes have to pay even if it’s just one night they sub, and everyone basically paid for only a half year for the 19-20 season. Some finished winter, some just ended it in March. Are you saying you’re picking up where 2019/2020 winter left off or starting a new season? that depends on the leag...

Re: USBC Dues?
did you mean that to come across as snyde? Those who only bowl summer leagues know they're paying for a year's dues even though they're bowling only for a summer - but they didn't bowl THIS summer. The point is (and yes, I know dues are cheap - not a big deal for me, but for my son-in-law and my fat...

USBC Dues?
As we get back to bowling (we get back on April 5 - WOO! :) ) nobody seems to know whether we will have to re-up our USBC membership for our sanctioned league. We had paid our yearly membership just prior to closing down and we've been down for more than a year . . . so do we have to pay for a year ...

Re: Score Point System
Gondar - THAT system is a pretty simple scoring system (sorry Eric if that was what you were referring to. I was still on OP. mea cupla for posting on low coffee levels)
It's 2 points per team game and 1 point for total.

Re: Score Point System
This looks like a simple 4 point scoring system. One point per team handicap game and one point for team handicap total. I would ask Randy Pratt your league secretary if this is the case. Or you could compare the league standing sheets from one week to the next and see how the point totals change t...

Re: Poll - Keep ball reps out of active competition?
I've noticed that the last several tournaments have not had the reps out there during competition (maybe during commercial break or between games, but that's cool by me) and I don't think the competition has suffered at all . . .

Re: Score Point System
Ahhhh - it's a match-point system that doesn't count individual series totals. That got me for a bit. . . Each individual game (Bowler A vs Bowler 1) is worth 2 points each so Bowler 1 earned 2 points for games 1 and 3 and Bowler A earned 2 points for game 2. Etc. BUT - no total series for individua...

Re: Opinion: Keep ball reps out of active competition
wait wait wait - you admitted to going personal? c'mon, Tomahawk.
BTW - your example is EXACTLY why we don't think ball reps should be involved. Let the pros bowl.
NM - this is a religious argument.

Re: Opinion: Keep ball reps out of active competition
only other sport comparable to bowling is . . . baseball? REALLY? Are you on crack? MAYBE - if it were just playing catch. But - we don't have 9 players on the field. We don't have a batter trying to hit the ball (which might be funny. . . but splinters) or runners trying to run. Baseball is a team ...

Re: Opinion: Keep ball reps out of active competition
So far, the argument FOR seems to be - it's cool. Somehow it gets people watching (I don't see ANY correlation or logical connection to that). The argument AGAINST seems to be - it's not really necessary. If bowlers can't bowl without coaching, then they should be what they are (which I agree) and m...

Add gymnastics to that. Multiple forms of racing - rally racing (used to allow 2-way radio but eliminated it - now it's only for emergencies, now it's back to just driver co-driver), rallycross and most sprint type racing (no spotters). we can make the list quite long. . . all to say that it's not u...

Re: Opinion: Keep ball reps out of active competition
A coach is only there to provide information. If we were to think in terms of a quarterback making a decision, it would be partially based on the information he received from the coach. The coach would say something like, the corner back is playing a little loose, the safety is leaving the area, et...

Even a cheap ball - see if anyone has one for sale, see if your pro-shop has anything on consignment. . . my first was a consignment ball. Then you can get it drilled. You won't be so worried about drilling it.

Re: Layout / arsenal advice
flexibility is always good. Being able to come up the back AND come strong through the ball , both , are good to be able to do.
Then let the lanes tell you what they want you to do.

Re: Does the type of ball/core matter when measuring PAP?
Hi Eric I'd always been told that one's PAP was off the hand. Ideally it would be measured in the air, but that's not possible so it's measured as soon as the ball leaves the hand and in the oil so nothing affects it. Wouldn't the core MOVE the PAP away from what it is? I mean, isn't the PAP the &qu...

Re: Layout/Track of Backup Ball
Hi Eric - wouldn't him throwing it backup mean he should have a lefty drilling? My wife throws backup and getting her balls drilled lefty (i.e. for what she actually throws as opposed to what the PSO thought she SHOULD be throwing) made a dramatic difference. I wish I had pics of what she had drille...
