Re: Jayhawk Tri Oval pro jig vs. Amf vacu jig

Does anyone know right off hand if the Jayhawk Tri Oval jig will fit on an AMF vacu press? Matt If I'm not mistaken, the Vacu-Jig uses a mill driil with 18" max distance table to collett (less with chuck) and the Tri-Oval uses a taller version mill with (I think) 24". In general the talle...

Re: Oval thumb

I have an original ovalmatic jig and I don't know how to drill oval thumbs yet and I cannot find any instructions on the internet anywhere. Also I do not have digitals so I will have to be doing it by fractions. Can anyone help me with this process please? On the old Ovalmatics, drill the fingers f...

Re: Drill press

1 800 use enco. Or check out specs on the website. Overseas press will do just fine I just noticed Enco (use-enco.com)was purchased by MSC ( redirected to mscdirect.com) and has a larger variety of tools and tooling. FYI, drill press swing is 2x the distance from the center of the column and center...

Re: Drill press

Thanks for the info. Am I better off getting a tabletop or a floor press? Depends on the type of ovalmatic jig you've acquired. If it has the x-y plates of the older style jig or whether it was bolted to a mill drill. If it was bolted to a mill-drill, you will need a x-y table. A benchtop, with the...

Re: Drill press

I am looking for something personal for now and eventually I will upgrade. I got an amazing deal on the job and my budget is low. Can I go to Lowe's harbor freight Sears or somewhere? Maybe someone can give me a link to a good one. The presses at both Lowe's and Harbor Freight are pretty much unacc...

Btw... I saw this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DELTA-SHOP-MASTER-17-DRILL-PRESS-INCLUDING-PALMGREN-MILLTABLE-DRILL-VICE-/272533864393 What do you all think? If you want to go the frugal route, there are ways to go about it and be able to drill any ball, any way you want, except oval thumb holes. Drill ...

Re: X Y table adjustment

This is my current drill set up, that I put together in 1991 for my shop, using a Gil-Mac ball holder with an Enco x-y slide table, (Enco 17" drill press). Total cost at the time >$240 jig or >$450. At the time $300 cheaper than Jayhawk The same model slide table was available on ebay last time...

Re: tape in thumb hole

Tape changes the location of the center of the hole so it does change pitch, by the thickness of the tape. I doubt you can feel that small of a change. Tape in the front of the hole also changes the spans by the thickness of the tape, you're more likely to feel that change. -- JohnP Beg to differ. ...

Re: New Sport Bowling program to start, No Tapes or $$ for c

The decision to abandon the 'Sport Bowling' program, seems to me, to be a lack of participation. The cost to both bowler and proprietor far out weighed the benefits. If the reasoning was to halt "sandbagging" due to some houses and leagues having a more competitive lane condition, I call a...

Re: How do you define light/medium/heavy oil conditions?

The brand, type and viscosity of the oil makes a huge difference.

As does the temperature, affected by heating systems in northern climates and how close to an outside wall some lanes are, in (Florida, Texas, etc) southern states that abuts a paved parking lot, humidity, cleanliness and lane beds.

Re: How realistic is it to practice a release with a foam fb

Years ago, I used a well used Chicago style 16" softball to get the wrist rotation with roll. Throwing underhanded and firmly, off a block wall, if you didn't stay behind the ball you were chasing it. It was a good lesson on staying behind and rotating the wrist thru the swing. It became a litt...

Re: Another dumb question

Back in the day of urethane, if my memory is correct, most of the solid Faball Hammer line came OOB sanded @ 360. I think the pearls were polished over 600 or 800.

Re: Experiancing Elbow Pain

I too experienced elbow (and wrist) pain after a layoff of several months (after carpel tunnel surgery). The elbow pain was just below the elbow towards the outside (and below the thumb at the wrist), I believe the ulnar nerve. I went back to the Dr and he recommended a cortisone shot in both elbow ...

Re: Request for your rating of - Par Bowling: The Challenge

The best $2.99 I ever spent on a new book. Oh wait, that was 'Par Bowling' ( black cover, the prelude). At the time it was the most comprehensive bowling text book around. It now sits dog eared, spine broken (but complete) and I still find valuable info every time I pick it up and read a bit. Any be...

Re: What To Do?

I'm a little confused as to the why's and why not's the proprietor chose to 'gift' free bowling to an outside group (High School Bowlers) because they're the future of the sport. As written, it sounds like the High School bowlers are not involved in the Jr program at that center. I agree the youth b...

Re: Switching Hands

When I started bowling (early seventies) I agreed with the rule. Today I'm not certain if the rule is relevant in scratch competition (only). Why? It was still the seventies, polyester and flat, light oil, we were pot bowling into the wee hours of the morning. It was taking low 220's to win the pot ...

Looks like no US Open in 2015 either. BPAA could jazz up a one car parade if planning was involved.
