Re: Benchmark Layout - Check Please
Thanks for your input. I lowered the sum to 75 for the speed dominance and side roll, and used the 1.5:1 ratio based on 10 degrees tilt. Preserving the tilt becomes important now, but the 2.5" pin to pap on asymms may go too long, as she also needs to burn off some some of the high rotation. Sh...

Benchmark Layout - Check Please
These are the stats for a high average female bowler I tested tonight: Ball Speed – 16.15 mph consistently Rev Rate – 200 rpm consistently Tilt – 9 degrees ave Rotation – 80 degrees ave 16 mph is matched with 250 rpm, so she is speed dominant, plus higher rotation. 9 degrees tilt is lower. Benchmark...

Re: Dean Champ
Is there any way dean champ, that you can make your pba mistake videos available on mobile devices. Thanks! Hi, because I don't own the rights to the songs I have used, unfortunately I have no control over allowing the videos to be available for mobile use. YouTube has changed a lot in the past few...

What camera do you use to shoot these videos? Thanks. Hi and thanks. The camera is the Canon PowerShot SX220 HS, and it cost me AU$200. It als...

Re: Benchmark Layout for Speed Dominant Bowler
Thanks for your reply elgavachon, very useful input. I was thinking the control layout on the fresh THS as that is what Mo always recommends to minimise the over/under reaction, but you've got me thinking that it may skid too long before reaching the hook phase, so maybe decrease the ratio but don't...

Re: Benchmark Layout for Speed Dominant Bowler
thanks for the replies guys, much food for thought, and i'm getting a bigger picture of what will work best for him now. with the double thumb, it will no doubt get the ball rolling sooner, but you also need to consider that he is ALWAYS playing in the driest part of the lane on house patterns, wher...

Re: No mercy drilling??
the heart that is marked on the ball isn't the MB marking, and was designed to be located on the left side of the thumbhole (for a right hander) in the first oil track. this usually places the CG in the centre of the grip as the ball was designed not to need a balance hole - from memory it was creat...

Re: pros inside...amateurs outside
The other thing to consider with the release is what the arm is doing before the release and where the hand goes AFTER the release for the follow through. I always find Randy's explanation too simplistic and it doesn't ring true for all pros, or for all amatuers. For example, Dom Barrett doesn't get...

Benchmark Layout for Speed Dominant Bowler
hi all, i am looking for a benchmark layout for a very speed dominant bowler. he bowls a 16lb ball and will mainly be for house patterns. his normal line is up the boards around 8 and he is very accurate and consistent; averages around 215. Tilt: 17.5 Rotation: 70 Speed: 19mph Revs: 220 the issue i ...

Certification is a noun that refers to the confirmation of certain characteristics of an object, person, or organization....validity always being somewhat subjective. Helping the willing whenever you can......... PRICELESS! I personally believe you don't need to be qualified to be a good coach. Kno...

"How many places can you go for a free lesson and analysis of your game or learn from what he's taken the time to craft."
Well said John. Jim's contribution to bowling knowledge and the time and effort he takes to help bowlers world-wide for free can never be taken for granted.

Re: Relevance of pin position
The issue of pin up vs. pin down balls keeps popping up - sort of like a bad penny. Unfortunately, in terms of what is actually happening within the ball as explained by the Dual Angle System, it's not all that simple. Most bowlers believe that pin up balls go longer because of "finger weight,...

Knee Continuation
Hi Jim, this was posted on my analysis video this week, and i found it curious. it lacks a bit of context, but the only thing i can think is that maybe too much is not good, or if the slide was too short it would cause it to happen unnaturally/ forcefully. what are your thoughts please? - Great vide...

Re: Angle ratio confusion
This is also stated in the "Applying Dual Angle System / Sweet Spot" document: - The main components that will affect this are ball speed and rev rate. An example of a well matched bowler would be 18mph speed and 300rpm (off the hand). I always went with 300rpm matching up with 17mph , per...

Re: Storm Lights Out - MOtion Hole
thx for your insight. i was considering it for this ball, but you're right, it may be a bit uncontrollable on the back end for this cover and core combo.
i'll see if i can get my hands on a Yeti to try out the MOtion hole...

Re: Asymmetric Balls v Symmetric Balls
Wow. This is an interesting discussion and observation. IMHO, we shouldn't really take reference from what the pros are using. If I'm not wrong, most pros are still drilling asymmetrical equips as if they were symmetrical balls. (Seems to be true if you do a slow motion playback of their telecasts)...

Re: Asymmetric Balls v Symmetric Balls
Try some larger sums on the assym's and pins 2 1/2 or so from the PAP. 80 X 2 1/2 X 45 with P3 or P2 1/2 hole has a nice look with continuation. Give it a try and see what happens. Yeah already tried these type of drillings as recommended by Mo. They just don't quite carry on house patterns as ment...

Asymmetric Balls v Symmetric Balls
hi all, i just wanted to get your thoughts/ feedback on the best use of these balls. i have been using dual angle layouts for a few years now, and working them out for my friends too, and always tend to use the benchmark drilling and then variations from there. for the sake of discussion, assume all...
