Re: Interesting Instruction
I was watching the following video from Kegel, and what Del says at 1:39 really intrigues me. What Del says seems to go against convention wisdom; having the pivot step be beside the left foot instead of in front of it. Thoughts? Just a...

Re: Drill for Getting Shoulders Back
Jim, For a bowler that drops their shoulders forward with trail leg up. What is a good drill to get shoulders back and head over left knee if a rightie? Any help would be appreciated. Scott Since. I can't post beyond the original post on edit I will add this. I took her to practice today used the F...

Re: What Slowinski says goes against what Belmonte and Osku
I don't think Slowinski could throw it 2 handed with the same results. Try and tell a 2 hander to drop his damn shoulder and see what happens. Are you saying that 2 handers should not drop his/her shoulder? Of all bowlers they ( 2 handers ) are going to drop at least 1. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Mu9p_...

Re: Switched to 2 handed one week ago
I am a bit confused by what you said about my fingers position. Am I supposed to touch my fingers or not? I would just get them closer in order to get the hand under the ball better at the release point. It almost looks like your fingers separate a little during the swing. I don't think you can str...

Re: yoyo release to increase rev?
Ive always been doing the handshake release to hook the ball. I found out about this yoyo release, where you just uncup your wrist right at the moment of release. I am a bit confused by this. Do you still do the handshake after you uncup your wrist? Or just roll the ball straight out of your palm? ...

Re: Need help with my release.. overturning the ball to the
Thank you. But if I force my arm towards my body in downswing, how can it be "freeswing"? It's very counterintuitive for me.. Should I hold the ball in stance in my index finger? Don't think of forcing the the arm to the body think more of guiding the hand downward in a backwards motion a...

Re: Pivot Step/Ball Speed
it feels very weird and like I have no control, but the results are much better. You also diagnosed me correctly with pulling from the top of the backswing. I think this might be why I lunge. I think tonight I might try making all my steps smaller and see if that helps. The goal is to be as free as...

Re: Pivot Step/Ball Speed
I start out with the foul line drill. I get positioned at the foul line, swing the ball once or twice, and release it. I noticed on the Quibica monitor that my ball speed was about 7.5 mph. Not surprising considering I had no approach. Next, I did the one step drill. I did a normal push-away and sw...

Re: mental game between practice and league play
You can't practice for your league unless you have the same oil pattern put down and same number of bowlers bowling. Also when practicing it's easier to get into a rhythm . In league play you roll a frame then wait 3 minutes or so. Practicing you roll a frame maybe wait 20-30 second then roll anothe...

Re: Essence of the value of video
I will not give or take a lesson without the use of video. I think I have a pretty good eye when coaching. I know what I'm for but the use of video has made me understand that nobody can see everything at full speed. Once, while given a lesson my student was saying that he was staying behind the bal...

Re: opposite sore shoulder
Stand up and place your arm directly in front of you as you would during your bowling approach. Keep your balance hand thumb up or level. Now pretend to rotate your shoulders as if your rolling the ball keeping the thumb in the same position . Notice that the balance arm will move back so far then s...

Re: Just what is "grab?"
First of all, yea, I know what grab is. But I'm wondering from a more technical standpoint exactly what's happening when someone grabs the ball during the release. What changes--rotation, tilt, rev rate, ball speed, etc.? All the above and then some. When grabbing the ball , the ball doesn't roll o...
