Re: The core hitting the pocket...

Some very informative answers thank you. But not exactly what i am after. To make it simple...the pin is at the top of the core, depending on the bowler, sometimes i see the pin almost on its side facing left (right handed), so the core is now laying sideways. I know it will be different because of...

Re: The core hitting the pocket...

Even if you got a coherent answer to this, would it matter? Lol

Probably the position it’s in during roll-out.

Re: Bowling Shoes - your experience, observations, opinions

Relates to an odd issue I’m having with my non-slide sole.

I’m a pretty serious toe dragger, so I think I’ve been prolong the sole off near the toes. It’s no longer able to attach at all in that area. Is there anything I can do to “refresh” the Velcro?

Re: Video: "How NOT to "Hit up" on the Ball and Roll Better?

Yeah, it was a bit confusing.

I do finish with my hand up and elbow bent, but I’m quite sure I don’t “hit up” on the ball.

Re: DISCOVERED A THUMB realization

Here ya go. image1.jpeg I'm really not sure what you guys are concerned about, but it's very comfortable, when I have my hand under it. My thumb is also a bit double-jointed, which makes it more flexible than most. image1(1).jpeg That said, I have no idea what a bowling grip is "supposed" to feel li...

Here ya go. :)

Not all that different, really. I probably have an easier time generating revs, though.

Re: DISCOVERED A THUMB realization

I resolved my issue with a new driller. He correctly identified that my span is considerably longer than usual, and lengthened it. (5.5”, if you’re wondering) I also used some sandpaper to carve out a more “oval” shape to the hole, allowing the sides of my thumb to clear. Then I added 4 pieces of ta...

Re: Help Nord Score On House Shots

Stand on middle dot, aim at gap between 2nd-3rd dot. Watch the ball curve out and back. Adjust 2 boards at a time.

Re: How to adjust to DRY lanes

Sorry for the confusion, I meant the dots 10 feet down the lane. :). Not the ones at the foul line.

I like targeting them instead of arrows, because I find it easier to focus on something closer.

Re: How to adjust to DRY lanes

Well, as it turns out, the center I’ve been going to doesn’t oil at all until before leagues. I guess that explains a lot. Not much point in practicing there, even with the “free summer bowling” for league members. Very disappointing.

Re: Help Nord Score On House Shots

You found miss room when your angle increased. By halfway through the video, you’re projecting the ball out to the right, from oil to dry. That’s why it got easier. For me (and most strokers ) it’s best to start out standing in the middle, and shooting at second arrow. Then adjust as needed. Also, I...

Re: Lowest scoring clean game/series

It doesn't have to be 1/ it can be gutter ball spare (-/) So if you go: -/ -/ -/ -/ -/ -/ -/ -/ -/ -/- (100) is the lowest clean game you could get. If you strike or spare on your first ball of the tenth, it's a clean game the fill ball doesn't count using the classic definition of a clean game. A ...

Re: Lowest scoring clean game/series

No dude. To have a clean game, you’d have to at least go 1/ for 10 frames, then strike the final shot.

That’s 119, unless I’m mistaken.

Re: How to adjust to DRY lanes

Went back today to practice on a completely dry lane (they all are), and made the adjustments. There’s nowhere to go inside, when it’s like that, so the options were to “suitcase” it, or just straighten my line. Well, when I use the suitcase, my speed seems to go up no matter what, and I send it ski...

Re: How to adjust to DRY lanes

Well, that’s what I was thinking - polish the ball next time, to substitute for oil. But how do you remove polish? Would TacUp do it?

Re: How to adjust to DRY lanes

Now that is some good stuff, thank you. One thing that you mentioned struck a chord with me off the bat - what the other bowlers are doing. We were playing against a team of... nice people, that were throwing straight balls. We had to give them 80 pins, due to handicaps. I realized later that 2 of t...

Re: How to adjust to DRY lanes

Thanks guys. The confusing this was though, that even when I hit the pocket, it was still just barely making impact. I left a 2-4-5-7-10 split twice!

As far as I know, this is from “burning up”. So the answer is still less revs?

How to adjust to DRY lanes

So, in the spirit of the Nord THS thread, I'd like to ask some of you experts for advice. A few days ago, I bowled my new high score - a 210! I've only been bowling regularly for about 6 months, so it's a big deal for me. :) I have a relaxed 'stroker' shot, cocking my wrist to the left on the approa...

Re: Help Nord Score On House Shots

How does this fit in to what I stated earlier about the Jackpot? Where on the lane should I have played? What target? 3, 4, 5 and 6 were instant rollout, no length at all, ball turned over the second it left my hand, but left of 6 it did not want to pick up at all as the oil was too heavy. You need...

Re: Help Nord Score On House Shots

You should be moving your feet, not your target.

I’ve also recently learned to aim at the dots before the arrows. Holy cow what a difference!
