Re: Analysis of this past US national champion

Yesterday evening I was on a league. The lane machine broke down just when they started to make the condition so we had to play the games unofficial. Quite awful 6 games. I had only dull balls with me because I was expecting otherwise. There was even one lane that didnt have condition made for the w...

Re: Analysis of this past US national champion

That is why I am tryng to bowl on the most messed up conditions there is because it can't be any worse then having glow bowling on it for 2 days with oil spread out all over the place. I was going to go today and just use my spare ball to see what I could do. That is indeed one of the worst conditi...

Swing plane analyzer for bowling. Is there any?

Just spending my saturday evening typically on the couch surfing and studying bowling. For golf and other similar sports there are many swing plane analyzing tools. Im talking about sensor that can be placed in to wrist which will measure the swing movement, path etc. and save it to the mobile devic...

Re: Pap change

You could also try to take video, preferably a slow motion one from your release and verify the exact PAP. With some balls it is very hard to visually determine by yourself because it has already changed a little when you can see the ball yourself.

Re: Confession: I am a hard headed ***** whatever

one pays around $200 for a new high performance ball Sorry for the offtopic but consider yourself as lucky one. If you buy a high performance ball here in Finland from the PSO, the ball can cost EUR350. That is around 370USD. :D One of the reasons I started to drill my own gear and importing them f...

Re: Easy Houses / Bad Coaches / rev rate calculation etc

You should remember that for most coaches the goal is not to make a bowler to throw the ball in a certain way that is generally told to be the "most effective". The goal usually is to see if there is anything obvious in the technique that if fixed, would help a bowler to throw more consistent. You h...

Re: Easy Houses / Bad Coaches / rev rate calculation etc

Anyway might be time to find someone else or something. I know there was no way for me to have only 2.5 revolutions on the ball from the time I threw it to the pins, it spins more then that for sure. That guy just spitted out a number. That is the guy from here. Why cant you just throw the ball and...

Re: Blister on tip of thumb/ how to stop squeezing

It should be helpful if you could post a photo of the problem. During swing there is gripping and then there is knuckling. Small grip pressure is not the end of the world as long as the grip pressure is stable during the whole swing but lesser is better. Also the lack of bevelling can cause blisters...

Re: finding rev rate

I have seen this "Release ratio" term earlier but couldn't find information about it. Doe's some one have good insights for that number what it should be? There is many ways to skin a cat. Basically you can alter this ratio by changing your release or ball speed. The problem is that since we can al...

Re: finding rev rate

You can not calculate your release RPM using the amount of revs on the full lane. The rev rate rises all the way until the ball is in the roll phase. I calculate rev's using the slow motion camera (120fps) on my iPad. It is possible to use "normal" frame rates also, but it is easier with slow motion...

Re: For TonyPR 3 games video + 1 modern attempt

The ball goes through five distinct phases as it goes down the lane, though your goal is to see only four of them. First the ball skids, then it hooks, then it stops hooking (hook out), then it rolls, and finally in rolls out. Hopefully you don't see the roll-out Sorry for a bit offtopic here but t...

Re: 15 vs 16 lbs.

So your problem is that you have fast feet and you want to compensate it with slower hand? Doesnt seem very logical. You need to get some coaching or at least video of your delivery so you can analyze the root cause of the timing issue. Why not asking some help on the coaching section on this...

Re: Hard lesson probably still not learned, not sure what ha

There is not any "best scoring area/arrow". That kind of things doesn't exist, period. There are areas on the specific condition where a specific bowler get a bigger margin of error on a specific equipment and specific playing style. This place may be even near the 5th arrow depending on the factors...

Re: Hard lesson probably still not learned, not sure what ha

Agreed. You have some very unorthodox ways of measuring your release specs. Why not get a camera and follow the wiki guide on how to measure everything instead of guessing? You're obviously committed to the sport and have a huge arsenal of balls. Not an area to get lazy or cheap with. This is propa...

Re: Hard lesson probably still not learned, not sure what ha

At first i thought you'll must have quite a long gap between the ball and your leg at the release that is causing inconsistency but then I realized you were still throwing 230avg. It makes me wonder about how easy lanes are you playing in there. If someone is practicing a new release technique and a...

Re: Recommendations for layouts

It sounds to me like you may be experiencing more oil than you are used to. I think you are right on point here! Especially with current gear available, it was hard at first to get a grip on the lanes. I really have to use some hand and force the ball to go straighter. Then it makes nice reaction a...

Re: Recommendations for layouts

Thank you very much for the suggestions. I would suggest taking your hyper cell skid and taking the coverstock down to say 1500 no polish and see if it gives you enough midlane read to then get into the roll phase. It is drilled with your benchmark layout...but personaly I'd say that ball was a poor...

Re: Recommendations for layouts

Forgot to mention that the Columbia Pure Physics and Roto Grip are with assymmetric-cores.

In case my delivery specs update in the future, I will post my current specs here also:

Right Handed
PAP 4 3/8" x 0"
60* rotation
17.5* tilt
320-360 rev rate
17mph off hand

Recommendations for layouts

I’m looking for recommendations for my arsenal build-up. I have one undrilled Radical Primo Solid that is going to be either a benchmark or a control ball for me. Currently I have two drilled reactive balls in my bag that I'm going to use. These were drilled by different PSO’s. Nowadays I have my ow...
