Re: 5 Step vs 4 step

HughScot wrote:Will a 5 step approach generate more speed than 4 steps?
The speed comes from swing and footwork. There shouldnt be any difference in speed if the swing is started and performed in similar way.

Re: New ball not reacting like I want?

One way to estimate the difference of the ring finger span relating to the middle finger span is the 5/16ths rule: [5/16ths - (middle finger - ring finger difference at the joint)] It means that if the difference is 1/4" for example, the ring finger span should be 5/16" - 4/16" = 1/16" longer than t...

Re: New ball not reacting like I want?

I'm having a pretty big problem right now though. I think I may have slightly messed up my hand. Maybe a tendon? Whenever I curl my ring finger or pinky I have a pain that goes through both and up my wrist. Making it very hard to bowl the last 3 games on Sunday. I'm taking a week or 2 off of bowlin...

Re: Holes need to be at least 1" away from pin

If the pin is less than 1" from the hole just drill it out, the VAL angle difference is negligible compared to the tuning you can do with surface and balance holes. Yes, drilling the pin out is a way to do it. Still you have to compensate the layout with surface modifications. While there is no pro...

Holes need to be at least 1" away from pin

I know that some manufacturers have had this type of rule earlier. Now I have also heard that one our country's importer of bowling balls have sent an information letter saying that there need to be at least 1" space between the pin and nearest hole in order to avoid ball warranties in the future. H...

Re: Ball cracking in front of my eyes

Did you btw wash this ball using ultrasonic? No, I didnt wash this anyhow. The ball has only few games on it though and it was regularily cleaned after throwing. Now the ball actually has a crack going all the way around the ball. It seemed like the coverstock was in very high tension. Like the cor...

Re: New ball not reacting like I want?

First off, is this white dot the "psa-mark"? http://i.imgur.com/payejy7.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; http://i.imgur.com/q33GGxh.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It's the only other mark on the ball that I can see. Yes, that is the PSA-mark on the ball. It is ...

Re: Recommendations for layouts

That urethane ball is not for dry conditions. I have no experience with the ball yet but I think that your belief goes against most of what is written about the ball elsewhere. It is meant for drier and/or burnt conditions. The cover reads friction early but is still urethane and should be controll...

Re: Recommendations for layouts

For the Rhino I would suggest pin in the ring finger .... 75-4.25-50 There was a change in plans. I was able to use the amazon gift card to buy a new ball roller so I ordered another ball elsewhere. As I mentioned earlier I wanted a ball for light/short oil conditions and on totally burned lanes to...

Re: New ball not reacting like I want?

The tyrant was drilled generic, no PAP was used. Could this throw it off this much? I'd say I'm a lower speed lower rev player. I'd like to get them both up, but not yet. This is all on a THS Welcome to bowlingchat! The tyrant is asymmetric, "Low RG/High Differential/High MB Differential that deliv...

Ball cracking in front of my eyes

Last week I had an awful experience with one Radical Yeti Unleashed. It slowly cracked in front of my eyes and I was unable to save it. This ball is few years old but had only few games played with it. I was going to plug and re-drill this ball for my friend. The ball has always kept inside in a ste...

Re: Drill press

Are you looking for a professional way to drill hundreds of balls for customers or a DIY-way to drill mostly your own balls? The budget defines a lot here. For a drill press some "minimum requirements" that can save you a lot of time: - Sturdier the better - at least 4" spindle travel - drill-mill (...

Re: Recommendations for layouts

I definitely need a bit weaker ball for drier/shorter conditions. To play little straighter lines and/or adjust when other balls tend to overreact. Im thinking about Brunswick Rhino pearl because I could get it with amazon gift card that I have. Either that or some urethane ball. Any thoughts on the...

Re: Balance Hole Location - Quick Question

I have a balance hole 3,5" from the centerline down the VAL and the ball doesnt flare over the hole. I also have short span (less than 4"). It depends on how you roll the ball.

Testing of an commercial ultrasonic cleaner with some bowling balls. The results have been amazing so far. I have had problems with the ridiculous not getting into roll early enough but after the treatment it is like a brand new ball and seems like 40% more agressive. A LOT of oil came out of these ...

Re: Swing plane analyzer for bowling. Is there any?

Would be neat but I don't see the need for such precise analysis for bowling. It all depends on the usage. Imagine that if the sensor would record your shots without you doing anything. Then for example after a game you could see all of those thrown swing planes maybe even at the same time in 3d. I...
