Re: Should I get' the phase 3?

I didn't read any of this REALLY? You jump on a thread, don't read it, and then post that you've heard negative things (not that you KNOW, only that you've heard. . .) when if you'd have read the thread, you'd see the balanced discussion about it. C'mon, Krava. We don't jump on your threads, NOT re...

Re: The right ball for the job.

There's a lot of misconceptions (my son-in-law has this) that ball speed is determined by how hard you can throw the ball (i.e. that the weight, and how much you can hold and throw is the key) - which is wrong. Ball speed is determined (apart from the initial "pendulum" speed) by your feet. If they ...

Re: That $%^&* 10 pin

Don't think of it as a formula - start watching what your ball does AS IT GOES through the pins. What does the ball do to the 3 and 6 pins? Honestly, that's THE question regarding the 10. A perfect hit will drive the 3 into the 6 into the 10. Now think about what happens if you see the 3 slide into ...

Re: Proper lane play on this one condition

Krava - I've posted my three main shots before - and I've given you a good, solid method to practice some lines. My A is about what you typically throw. Foot on 20, cross arrow about 10, flare around 8. My B (if the lanes feel dry) - move left to 5 and either cross 10 or 15 and watch what it does. M...

Re: Layout advice for Mrs. DMSarch

one thing I'd note - my wife is backup and for years had her thumbs all drilled as per a righty because 4 different PSO's didn't notice it. She's right handed, after all, so . . . She had been hanging up in the ball for YEARS. Each of the PSO's said, well, that's what you get throwing backup. >:( Mo...

Re: Proper lane play on this one condition

Krava - the reason we typically say that you stay in the track is that you routinely say that you bowl somewhere between 10-13 out to 8-9 - and that is the typical track on any normal house shot. That's where most people bowl. And when you say you're flexible - it sounds funny to me because you actu...

THIS would be hilarious!

Just as a one-time joke, obviously. . . but one of my favorite YouTubers, Mark Rober, made a steerable bowling ball . . . that he steers by leaning one way or the other. And yes, most (all?) of him and the kids hitting the pins looks like it's staged - who cares! It's friggin FUNNY! :) Especially th...

Re: Male & Female Technique, Equipment, & Scores

As a male bowler I'm just getting into my own equipment for the first time and using a 14# to ensure I develop good technique and steady control, yet I rarely ever see or hear what the pros use...presumably 16#, with some going 15#? I've never even bowled league yet. What about the ladies? I don't ...

Re: Advice on reading lane transition faster

Krava From your original post, it sounded like you were hitting your mark, but the ball was immediately jumping left and leaving 4-pins. If you're missing your mark, then obviously you're missing your mark. If you're missing your mark left - that could easily be a timing issue. We miss left because ...

Re: help identifying ball roll

the 7 arrow drill is where you take the same ball I think and start at the first arrow, then go to the 2nd arrow, then move all the way to the 7th and the goal is to try to strike from each arrow. The drill is suppose to get you familiar with playing the entire lane I believe and not being scared o...

Re: Drilling Advice

Hi All, First post, thanks in advance for the help. I have a Hammer Statement and I cannot seem to control it. Its so aggressive on the back end and if I don't throw it very hard or loft it I can't keep it from coming over the head pin. The amount of splits I've had is insane. I'm thinking of havin...

"Next 3 balls where extremely high in the pocket left the 4 pin 3 shots straight. Then brookln 2- times after that. Moved left 1 board and hit the pocket leaving a flat 10. Next shot I believe was through the nose leaving 6 10." All of this indicates WAY more than a 1 board move left. A 4 pin indica...

I used to use 3m buffing compounds that were designed for automotive work. You could get them in various grits.

I don't see why you couldn't use them now.

Re: New Player Bowling Ball Help

Natiris - if you're using a house ball at 11# and it feels comfortable, that's because house-balls are all drilled at a "one-size-fits-all" approach which really means that one size doesn't fit anyone! If you get a 14# or 15# ball that's fitted TO YOU - and fitted fingertip (which actually gives you...

Re: Baker format team?

I wouldn't look at it as high avg vs lower avg - look at it as who is better or more reliable in the clutch. I know high avg bowlers who CHOKE when the game is on the line, and I know lower avg bowlers that when it's coming down to it, they will punch out every time, or at the very least mark. Put y...

Speaking of bowling like nobody's watching

We were bowling - we had actually taken all four points by the time we had hit the 7-8th frame. Our opponents were s...l...o...w. Not like "where the bleep are they???" slow. . . just very slow to bowl. so by the 8th frame, everybody but one other pair had finished and pretty much left. By the botto...

Re: being in a slump

As far as missing easy spares - relax. I know that I tense up trying to pick up my 10's - I have to take a couple of big breaths and let them out to just relax (now it's routine, but still) and just roll the ball. Focus on taking the tension out of your shoulder, shake your ball-arm to release any t...

Re: sore back right at the end of bowling etc

If you want to continue bowling, here's a little bit that I'm doing - I'm slowing down. This takes stress off my knee (I get knee replacement on 11/26 - it grinds. . . badly) so I can slide on it (small slide) and off my opposing hip and back (which ache in compensation for the knee). I'm staying er...
