Re: High RG balls

Under what conditions or during league on THS will a high RG ball fit? At the simplest High Rg balls essentially skid a little farther (A lot of times this is referred to as "Lope" by old schoolers) before "reving up" and making a move than low Rg balls would. So In general You basically would use ...

Re: Proper lane play on this one condition

thanks 44 boyd I will try the 7 arrows thing. I mentioned it before when I saw the brad and kyle blog talk about it. I will need a fresh lane with no carry down to do that. You don't necessarily need a fresh lane with no carry down to do that drill. In fact you'd probably be better off not knowing ...

Re: Losing by a few pins Where should the blame be if any.

I know it is a team sport so blame should be on the team and not just 1 person. Given if you believe that, Then you've answered your own question. On Wednesday we lost the 1st game really bad, barely won the 2nd, then the 3rd game we were up by 90+. How did it go in you're other post "I need to tea...

Re: Ball Speed vs Rev Rate Chart

Found & saved this for good measure. Agree? Best to be matched #3?? That chart has been around for many years and is what is commonly referenced (it's in the BC wiki) when checking to see if a player is matched or dominate one way or the other in regard to speed or rev's. Q: How much difference is ...

Re: Proper lane play on this one condition

The only reason I showed the score picture is because my cousin had them print out the scores. I didn't ask for them. he wanted to rub it in my face that he beat me. (he is averaging 136 on thursday) so you can see why he did that. I would to if I were him probably. This apparently wasn't a "practi...

Re: Proper lane play on this one condition

I have no probably moving. (You meant to say no problem moving). I can play anywhere on the lane from inside of 5 to 4th arrow. I will say this, I will struggle like hell, if I have to keep the ball from going right of 10 (playing 3rd or 4th arrow). If I don't have that room from 8-10 then there wi...

Re: Proper lane play on this one condition

TL;DR: Krava struggles on different patterns because he won't move off the track. Short version: Lane seemed to have Light oil and LONG probably 45 feet. Oil was probably oiled 3-3 or 5-5 or something. Alot of hold on the inside and nothing on the outside. There is almost no backend reaction at all....

Re: Finger Grip fit etc

OK just to make sure, we're talking about the inserts that give you like a 1/8" or 1/4" of forward pitch. Given if you had your grip "properly" fitted in the first place, You had the correct spans, Laterals and Fwd/Rev pitches that suited your thumb and finger flexibility etc. Why would you then use...

Re: Observations and some questions

As of this writing, the only thing I don't know how to do, is how to change axis tilt and rotation. What do you mean by "I am suppose to be", Why do you have to be at those particular angles for rotation? or is that 13° tilt & 45° rotation? If so then the same question. Here's some basic info to ge...

Re: Observations and some questions

People do things differently. True, But most players start with the basic's (textbook) and as time goes on those differences develop (either for good or bad) I saw the marshall video. he stood with his foot on 15. 1st step was 5 boards to the left. he ended up on I think 26/27 throwing up 10. Your ...

Re: Observations and some questions

So Let me debate the 2nd video. According to the video, wherever you start the ball, the ball will only make it back almost that far without any kind of push. Basically true if the ball swings like on a true pendulum with a fixed point of suspension, the ball starts at say the 3 o'clock position an...

Re: Observations and some questions

#1 "feel" When releasing the ball, I can feel my fingers do a small arc motion and then stretch out before the ball is released. It feels sort of like if I was pulling back a little on a rubber band with the 2 fingers and then release. Is this the way it is suppose to feel? Yes. You start out your ...

Re: USBC finds another way to bail out proprietors

Tiered levels of certification, So basically their going to start giving centers a grade and "IF" the centers want to raise that grade they'll have to make some kind of improvement or whatever. Well on the face of it that don't sound that bad, depending on how it's implemented, what each tier encomp...

Re: Want to learn basic fitting - need guidance

Something of interest This (Org. posted by TonyPR) is Joe Slowinski's take on thumb lateral base fit: thumb angle.png Note: I was measured by a Proshop with a 3/16" lateral thumb pitch and that matches with Joes chart here and the coke can test for what that's worth. I'm not saying that verifies the...

Re: Want to learn basic fitting - need guidance

Are there no guidelines for can size related to span? Something someone wrote down while testing this out? The Coke can test for thumb pitch was based on the four MoRich fitting tubes , the four tubes sizes were 2", then 2.5", then 3" and 3.5" in diameter. but there's nothing that I've seen that re...

Tech Talk: What to do when oil doesn't set before league!

Okay this should be good for a discussion. TL;DW version (If I'm following him.) 1-They get done oiling 5 mins. before you start bowling. But the oil needs 15-30 mins to properly stick to the lane. 2-A lot of people start bowling with plastic and Urethane balls and pumping it down second arrow, they...

Re: Vertical axis coordinate

I'm trying to understand the effect of the height of the vertical axis coordinate of your PAP in relationship to your release. As an example, if you tend to spin the ball some, will your vertical coordinate be higher than someone who has a more up the back release? Here's what Mo said about the Ver...
