Re: How many average games can you bowl before wrist pain

Interesting topic. When I bowled competitively, PBA regional events, etc., I never got any wrist pain. To this day near age 60 I may not bowl as much but I still do not get wrist pain.

Re: sore back right at the end of bowling etc

Krava you may be right about doing the deadlift at this time since you have an abdominal hernia. To be safe get the hernia fixed first. Kybob's recommendation is correct. See a Chiropractor. That is the profession I practice.

Re: sore back right at the end of bowling etc

Be careful of hyperextensions. They can put undue stress on the back. Many gymnasts have ruined their backs because of the hyperextension they can perform. The best general back exercise in my opinion is the deadlift. But instead of picking the bar or hexbar off the floor, place the bar or hexbar on...

Re: sore back right at the end of bowling etc

For my back pain patients I recommend that they start strength training. Most have weight issues, but it is hard for people to change their eating habits in this country. So the stronger one is the more structural stress one can handle before they strain and sprain an area. The safest yet most produ...

Re: Let's talk surface

Are other bowlers having trouble carrying? If so maybe the racks are off enough to contribute to the corner pin problem. I remember a 3 game title match between Ryan Ciminelli and Norm Duke in which Ryan just got 7 pined to death. He pounded the pocket but the racks were bad enough for the left side...

Not necessarily. Put down much less oil and it will equalize many power players including myself.

Re: No more motion hole

That is a bummer. Most of my bowling balls have balance holes in them. Even the 30 year old ones I have. I guess I will not be joining any USBC leagues any time soon.

Re: No more motion hole

Will the balance hole rule effect balls that were drilled with a balance hole prior to the rule going into effect?

Re: USBC Possibly Going After Ball Specification Limits

You're right. This limp wristed attempt at credibility is an indictment of the state of the USBC. All facade, no substance. The problem is, Arlington isnt willing to give up power to local associations to enforce lane conditions and lane specs. On the record: I have visually seen many instances of ...

Re: Have you ever quit?

10:1  seriously? I have expected that it is an urban legend. Seriously! Now maybe not all centers have this high of a ratio. But when one can pull the ball 5 boards and be light in the pocket and leave the bucket (ball hits third arrow when the target is 2nd arrow), and miss right a couple b...

Re: Have you ever quit?

Off-topic but I'm just curious that how easy patterns there is on "normal" league/competitions on US? Well if one can master the wet/dry over/under reaction of some of these 10 to 1 ratio league patterns, a bowler can average way higher than his actual skill set. I typically averaged 225 to 230 on ...

Re: Have you ever quit?

I have taken some time off from bowling league myself. About three years now. I just bowl with some friends from time to time. I do my practicing in the yard with balls that I do not use on the lanes to keep in practice. I did not stop because of bad bowling. I averaged 228, and I do not consider my...

Re: Which Radical?

I do not have any Radical equipment yet, but would not mind trying some. I only can bowl on the 40' THS since no centers in my area have sport leagues. I like to play as straight as I can, but given that the THS tends to be a wet/dry pattern I must play the big hook to reduce the over/under effect o...

I have made it several times over the past 30 years. I only could make it going after the 6-9-10 side. Never seemed to make it from the 4-7 side.

Re: Carry down

I agree as well and have confirmed this conclusion myself. I have an old Black Hammer with a long enough pin that I have a Motion Hole layout drilled into it. The ball has flare and as a result I have no carry down problems that I use to have using old urethane drilled off the label. Hits like a tru...

Re: Bringing back an old ball, using it, and then shooting h

Happens all the time. When I was bowling league two years ago got out my old Black Hammer and shot 300. Couple weeks later got out the old Columbia Black U Dot and shot 300. Both times were 800+ series as well. So the old timers have their place yet. These new balls may at times be over rated. Daryl

Re: How do you personally pick up the 7 pin (missing too ma

Here is what I do when it is a sport shot, but first let me explain my THS tactic for picking up the 7 pin. Usually I stand next to the tenth board with my slide shoe and shoot straight up the 8th or 9th board at the foul line. So I am using the dry part of the lane to let the ball hook enough from ...

Re: My attempted return after 5 months with shoulder problem

Hi Krava, When doing weight lifting only do partial range of motion movements in your strongest position. Take the Bench Press as an example. Your strongest range of motion when doing the Bench is two to four inches below a fully extended lock out. The range of motion should only be an inch or two a...
