Re: Brunswick purchases EBI

How do you "get adjusted" to food being taken out of the mouths of Americans; all in the name of the almighty dollar? Yet Brunswick employs hundreds of American workers who cross the border from Texas to the factory every day. Never-mind the fact that they also have their R & D and re...

Mav,

Thanks for everything you do! I don't post as much as I used to on the old, old forum haha, but always read and keep up with everyone's posts on here.

Re: Layout advice for Brunswick Jagged Edge Solid

I ended up drilling the Jagged Edge Solid yesterday. I went (50) x 3" x 25*. It was a perfect, earlier rolling compliment to The Closer ((70) x 3.75" x 25*). Flares up nicely and still has a fairly defined snap at the break point. Overall hook was about 1-2 boards less, very negligible, bu...

Re: Layout advice for Brunswick Jagged Edge Solid

Mav, rev rate is accurate, done by two different sources over the last three months and within 10 RPM of each other so that’s where it is right now. Really just looking for it to pick up a little quicker, it won’t be more overall hook than The Closer, obviously, but I’m looking for a different shape...

Layout advice for Brunswick Jagged Edge Solid

I’m looking for layout advice for my Brunswick Jagged Edge Solid. I want it to be a little earlier and stronger than my Closer which is drilled 75 x 3.75” x 25. I had thought about going 3.5” x 35 or even 3” x 40. Thoughts? Also, if you want to give me a few options I’m open to that too. Thanks in a...

Re: Hard time to figure out what to put in between my 6 arse

I would go with a Conspiracy Solid or Vapor Zone Solid, like Mav stated. For your other option, I would look into a Method, it's sneaky strong but will give you a little different look than your other stuff being a symmetric, med. rg and higher diff ball. Also, that would give you a hybrid cover in ...

Re: Katana Vs. Conspiracy pearl

I have both the original Katana and the Conspiracy Pearl, with the same layout 50 x 3 7/8" x 30, no x-hole. At box finish the Conspiracy Pearl is a few feet longer, 2-3 boards more overall hook, and more angular than the Katana. I will say both balls take to surface changes very well, as I took...

Re: Ringfinger pain

The power lift Vise inserts add forward pitch (about 1/8") and lengthen the span. I wonder if simply trying Vise ovals would be worth a shot as a test to see if decreasing the span a pinch and lessening the forward pitch from the inserts may help. It could be worth getting back in the fitting b...

Re: Lateral finger pitch guidelines

I am left handed and use 1/8" right lateral (middle finger) and 5/8" left lateral (ring finger). I have used a 3/4" difference for many years and have no problem with fingers touching in the holes. You have to adjust lateral pitches based off finger flexibility of course, but the 3/4&...

Re: Stirring CS Hybrid (quick plug) with a bevel sander...

I do a lot of plug work and I can tell you that you NEVER want air bubbles in your plug. It weakens the integrity of the plug and increases your chances of cracking. If I am doing plug work for a customer I use regular plug, not quick plug. I find it holds up long term better and comes out better fo...

Re: ruff surface

I agree with MeNoRevs, get a good router in your shop. We use a DeWalt router and clear base shield with vacuum attachment, works great. It looks like this: Router: https://www.google.com/shopping/product/13607046190824040519?lsf=seller:1135568,store:538126062795791932&prds=oid:16005511891593853...

Re: Drilling into the Pin

Also, here is something to keep in mind. In order to keep your warranty for the ball intact, you would have to drill the entire pin out of the ball, or else make sure it is at least 1" from all gripping holes. I just adjust my layout if I am midway in the pin to make sure I drill the entire pin...

Re: Layout advice for Quick Fix & Tremendous

bfweld, I love the Xeno Pearl, great ball in places that have weaker back ends. I used it a lot in one center that I struggled with pin carry for a while, drilled the Xeno Pearl and averaged 245 over the last eight weeks with it. Very defined move off the spot, but still controllable. As far as the ...

Other balls I am keeping in my arsenal (for now), for comparison:

Quantum (Forest Green): 50 x 5" x 35
Quantum (Fire Pearl): 33 x 5.25" x 67, x-hole 3/4' x 2" deep, 2" down VAL
Fanatic SS: 5.5" x 30 (Double thumb)
Xeno Pearl: 50 x 3.75" x 40

Layout advice for Quick Fix & Tremendous

I am looking for layout advice for the Quick Fix and Tremendous. One ball motion that I am looking for is a little bit earlier, stronger in the mid lane, with good continuation. I have a Mastermind Strategy drilled 37 x 5.25" x 63 that worked good at the PBA Roth / Holman Doubles, looking for s...

Eric,

Thanks for the advice, I really like your suggestion of 75 x 4 x 40 for the long and strong for the Xeno Pearl. Your explanation and breakdown of how and why are superb. Thank you very much, that was exactly the advice I was looking for.

Xeno Pearl demo / layout advice

I went to the pro shop demo at AMF Silver Lanes last week in CT, had a blast and was able to try out a few of the new Brunswick/DV8/ Radical releases that I haven't drilled yet. I already have the Fanatic SS and True Nirvana drilled, so I didn't throw those, but I was the most interested in the Vand...
