Re: Switching Ball Weights

SRB (Senior bowler ???) I hope your injury improves. Throwing in a plug for your local coaches - you might consider having a coach or pro shop operator look at you roll a few balls to see if elements of your technique could be tweaked. Example: Your footwork, degree of muscular involvement. Jim Merr...

Re: How much technology do you use in bowling equipment?

Ummm - don't say that wrist supports keep a wrist in a locked position. Thanks for pointing out my error. Bad choice of words on my part, they support and to varying degrees curtail movement. As for videos, with all respect, the videos are provided for reference and resources, many of which have be...

Re: What do you pay with for bowling? Everything?

When at bars/restaurants I pay with the card then tip in cash. Most often, especially in this Covid time, I tip more than the standard 15%. The servers are taxed based on the the receipts. When tipping extra in cash it gives them even more in their pocket. Eric, I commend your wisdom and generosity...

Re: How much technology do you use in bowling equipment?

A word on Wrist Supports, as you know, they keep a wrist locked into a position. They can be set to induce various types of roll and tilt. The strongest releases require quick movement of the wrist. Think of throwing a frisbee or flicking a yo yo, you can't do either very well with a wrist LOCKED in...

Re: one handeded/no thumb blower

Here is a short clip of a Mike Miller early in his career. Note the quick approach and ability to keep the wrist cupped. I had dabbled in no thumb, both 1 and 2 handed. Being a small guy 5'8", with average size hands, I used a trick I observed from watching Bob Benoit (he used his thumb). What I did...

As an addendum to boomer's cogent points - Use of a focal point can help, also the old towel on the land to encourage loft. http://forum.bowlingchat.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5109&p=40735&hilit=Focal#p40735 A thread on BC discussion of two handed style. Perhaps better than shooting in the dark. This video was prepared by Maestro Jim Merrell https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=egPrzCe4DSQ Also, this axiom applies to every style. Note the pictures posted by Jim Merrill of a young two handed. http://forum.bowlingchat.net/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1052 I would str...

Re: What is BowlingChat worth to you?

Hi John, my latest BTM article was on the bowler/ coach relationship, and I'm currently writing one called 'What a teacher can teach a coach'. Re Bowling Chat, I've learnt so much on here from 2010 onwards, plus getting a lot of outside support from Jim M and also helping him at times too. I think ...

Re: What is BowlingChat worth to you?

We havent seen TonyPR since April. Dean, do you have any interest in joining Tony in leading the certified coaching forum and group? Not a lot of work there right now, but that may change with great direction! Hurricane season and other circumstances may be curtailing Tony's participation. Hopefull...

Re: What is BowlingChat worth to you?

I am happy to do video analysis in the coaching section when I have the time and the required angles in real time are submitted, but as far as I have seen, there have only been a few videos posted in the certified coaching forum so far this year. Eric, in light of Dean's offer, perhaps a change to ...

Re: What is BowlingChat worth to you?

Eric, I think you do a fine job as moderator. The threads that I've seen that you've closed have been mostly in an effort to keep the peace so to speak. Of course, I'm not aware of every situation. I agree with boomer comments about the paucity of customized instruction. I don't recall anyone coming...

Regarding the video upload problem - The only uploading of videos I've ever done is from a YouTube video, that's accomplished by pasting the URL to the Post. When the BowlingChat software sees a YouTube URL, it surrounds the pasted URL with appropriate delimiters. You may get more responses by creat...
