Re: Funny Reaction on Solid Optimus
Hi Greg... the dry flares are migrating over your thumb hole. See first Image below on how your ball is flaring now. To correct this issue just drill a 1" dia. by 2" deep weight hole 4" horizontally from the grip center line and 2" up from the midline. No pitches need for the hol...

Yes indeed... There are plenty of ways to strip region codes off of DVD's so you can play them anywhere.

Re: Same guys always winning!
Trip, Can you post up the typical prize fund breakdown and entry numbers? Without knowing what you are doing now it's all a bit of a swing in the dark. I can do better than that. Here are the links to three of the tournament sites in the Michigan area... Browse these sites and you'll see the exact ...

Re: Same guys always winning!
I think that is an awful proposal. You have a choice between penalising skill and ability, or helping the lesser skilled. I believe the first option is bad for any sport, and the second is good for a sport. It's not bad when you consider the other options. It does attempt to address the main proble...

Re: Same guys always winning!
Thanks to all of you for the feedback. Duly noted. What are you thoughts on this.... it's a spin off from the divisions suggestion previously. Instead of 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15 etc., we arrange the finals match play in order of previous earnings? The idea is to have 1 vs 2, 3 vs 4 etc based not on qualify...

I would say to that 1% to practice more and go bowl the PBA events.channelsurfer wrote:Cream rises to the top no matter what!!!! Stop with the liberal thinking of wanting to spread the wealth and tell the other 99% to practice.........seems that the 1% paid their dues and learned to bowl.

Re: Same guys always winning!
How about a twist on the handicapping idea. Rather than handicapping based on scores shot, handicap based on money won. Think horse racing. If someone wins $$, give them more weight to carry. i.e. negative pins handicap. That should put a limit on the same people winning. Another interesting concep...

Re: Same guys always winning!
I will try and pull the program data tomorrow. My flex gets plenty of attention. Oil is a magnet for dirt and lint, which prevents loads from getting on the lane promptly. My lanes are double stripped of the house shot prior to all tournaments. Thanks Russ... I'm happy to see you understand the imp...

Re: Same guys always winning!
In my opinion it doesn't matter if it is usbc, wtba, pba patterns etc. They all use 25-30 mil's going forward. They are all designed to accommodate the hookmonsters. The majority of players start in the same zone, and chase it left. If hooking it more then everyone else is your one trick, almost al...

Re: Same guys always winning!
So my takeaway from this is that your tournaments are the equivalent of PBA events, due to the number of former PBA members and even Hall of Fame players. If this is the case, perhaps your issues aren't related to patterns or payouts. Just spitballing here, but I might say that your issue is market...

Re: Same guys always winning!
Best post I have seen in a long time. But yes, as Mo stated mix up the patterns. Are the ones winning guys who can keep chasing it left and hook it the most? Run shorter format, or re oil more often. I have been running tournaments going back to less forward, and more reverse oil application. Bingo...

Re: Same guys always winning!
A problem for ALL societies. 1-5% create what happens; 25 % carry out that creation; 70-75% ask "what happened?". Not an exclusive problem to bowling; to sports; to societies. Solution: offer a longer prize list: Ultimately, the real solution: Thanks Gary for your input. I'm just one dire...

Just remember whatever you do, you may end up losing some of that top 1% as well. Thanks surffisher2a for the reply. Loose some of the top 1%! I don't see that as a bad thing. It's their choice :) This is a hard situation because I am of the mindset of let them bowl and best win. However I would ne...

Re: Same guys always winning!
From what I've read, you've got a problem of having a very small group of players who are much better than the field.....to the point that most are defeated before they throw a ball. I would suggest figuring out a group of divisions that segments that group to where they beat up each other in quali...
