Re: New arsenal build
It actually came out of the box not shiny, I thought it was strange. Looked more like 3000 without the polish.

Re: New arsenal build
Yes, that's the ball. Is that not a good layout for the ball?

Re: New arsenal build
Update, picked up an outlook pearl for real cheap *$75 in box* and put the control layout on it with slight adjustment to put pin in ring finger. From what I understand the Outlook pearl is supposed to be a benchmark pearl and with the control layout I'm hoping to use it on the house shot so I can k...

Re: Axiom layout for route 66 v2
You have solicited for input and layout advice and have yet to heed any of it. What am I supposed to think? I utilized strong comments to try to make my point. I apologize. You have complete trust in the guys you have drilling your equipment when they do not deserve it. I could have criticized even...

Re: Axiom layout for route 66 v2
If I averaged over 30 pins less on a sport shot I would not be happy either with my performance or the equipment I am using or Both. You need to be honest with yourself and stop trying to play me for a fool. I don't think your ball choice and layout is working on your sport shot. Or your house shot...

Re: Axiom layout for route 66 v2
Just another follow up. Still averaging over 230 for the house shot league since I got this ball and the sport shot league average is climbing as well. Since switching to the long pattern I'm averaging just under 200 on the route 66 v2 shot. I'm seriously considering buying another Axiom to hold on ...

Re: Axiom layout for route 66 v2
After a decent amount of bowling with this ball, I'm definitely happy with how the layout works. I think the assessment of the original layout being tweaked to avoid drilling into the pin is probably correct. The ball has been working tremendously well on my house shot league as I've averaged right ...

Re: Opinion: Keep ball reps out of active competition
[/quote] As far as people sharing "intelligence" about lane play, I don't see why people competing against each other would want to help each other out at all. Because, for the most part, they are all friends/friendly with each other. I have literally seen pros talking to each other and am...

Re: Axiom layout for route 66 v2
This was a fellow bowler who has his own press and such that drills stuff for his family and friends. It probably makes sense that he's better at nailing the fit more than layouts doing it on his own. Still seems crazy that he was so far off the mark on the layout he said was on it. I'm going to hav...

Re: Axiom layout for route 66 v2
Strange that he would be so far off on the angles.... It worked well, but still.

My span is 4 5/8 by 4 11/16. The pin is about 1/2" above the ring finger.

Re: Axiom layout for route 66 v2
I had the first night of league on the new pattern. I didn't say originally that the ball was being drilled soon. Partly I wanted to see what others suggested to compare to what was put on it. All that said, he put a 50x4.75x50 layout on it. The result was plenty of strength for the pattern, partial...

Re: Opinion: Keep ball reps out of active competition
Here's my 2 cents, if they are even worth that much. The people with Reps have earned that help by proving they are good enough to be worth the investment of time and money by the manufacturer's. If you can prove your skills on your own, you capture their attention and gain that benefit as well. I'v...

Axiom layout for route 66 v2
Just want to get some input on suggested layouts for the route 66 v2 oil pattern my new Axiom. Pap 6 over 1 up 440ish rev 70* rotation 17* tilt 17ish foul line speed *may be a bit higher since it's been awhile since was measured* Monitor speed when warmed up typically shows 16.5 AMF synthetic surfac...

Re: New arsenal build
Some changes to this lineup. The outcast has basically be removed, I may have to pull it back out to see if it works better now that I've been back to bowling for awhile. I picked up a Turmoil 2 Pearl that is laid out almost identical to the No Rules for pin placement which was supposed to be a step...

Re: sharing drilling sheet specs with customers
I'm one of those people who asked for the sheet for my files. I did that specifically for a case in which I may be out of town and need to have a ball or switch grip drilled on short notice. I'm not out here shopping around for the cheapest option, I just don't want to be screwed or sink a bunch of ...

Re: IT vs Switch Grip
I have switch grips in several balls. No real issues with them, but it's the only experience I have with swap-able grips. I do know it's really nice to have a consistent fit when I switch balls.

Re: Summer - The season of?
The season of getting back into bowling league. I did things a bit backward and jumped straight into scratch tournaments at the tail end of winter when I came back from a long long break from bowling. Now I was able to join a league for the spring/summer. Three big benefits are I get to meat people ...

Re: Changing Span and Thumb Pitch
I've been thinking about this as well. The problem I have with a shorter grip is that I tend to dig my fingers in and end up with closer to a conventional grip instead of fingertip. However, I understand that shortening the grip and going zero reverse to even some forward can make it easier to not &...

Re: Summer leagues
There's a single's scratch league Thursdays here that I joined. It plays like a sweeper tournament every week. $20 you bowl 3 games across 3 pairs and top 4 have a roll off for a small payout. If you get 4th you bowled for free because you get your 20 back. then it's 25 for 3rd, 30 for 2nd and 40 fo...
