Re: Program for drilling ovals
don't do this - it installs a flash player on your computer. Flash has been discontinued for very good reason. It's one of the most insecure and hacked platforms in history. As an IT professional, I rejoiced when support for it finally ceased, when Chrome finally stopped its emulation, and I could ...

Re: Oval holes
You can find the end mills at Innovativebowling.com. I used to drill ovals on an old AMF press back in the 80’s. I had so much radial play in the spindle, that I would take an oak 2x2 (that some old bowler gave me for seating the morse tapper bits) and get it between the press’s column and spindle a...

Re: How do YOU remove the factory polish on new balls?
I start out just hitting the ball lightly with a grey scotch bright pad at the lanes. Throw the ball and add more pressure accordingly with subsequent scotch bright scuffing

Re: Plugging resin
Regarding the product approval, good point Bowl1820. BTW, is the DEVCON Plastic welder clear? I seem to remember using that product for other purposes years ago. How long is the cure time for that? I’ve also used the UV cured resins to repair deep gouges. It works well and is hard as hell. It’s a mu...

Re: Plugging resin
Household epoxy-based resins are really not suitable for plugging bowling balls. Firstly, they are too viscous and have too short of a pot life to be able to use any type of color matching, get good clean pours and allow trapped air bubbles to escape. They also cure with a greenish yellow tint that ...

In that Chart, “Z” does not represent hole depth; it, unfortunately, is used to denote the oval width minus the first hole diameter - an unfortunate misuse of nomenclature

“X” & “Y” are the mill table’s coordinates. X being the side-to-side and Y the front-to-back movements of the mill table and thus the ball jig mounted on it. The X & Y chart represents increments in thousandths of an inch, that must be added to the X & Y settings you made to the mill to ...

Re: Vise CS Hybrid vs. Vise Rapid Cure
CS Hybrid does not adhere to the ball very well. I’ve done a lot of experimenting with it — including but not limited to curing under 50psi of pressure. It just doesn’t last if you have a plug that winds up being partially drilled into such as with span adjustments. The color mixing can be mastered ...

Re: real bowlers tape
I use it. It’s to improve gripping power on the front side of the thumb hole via texture like white tape. Its better than the white tape in that it doesn’t get as gooey the white tape over time, which became as problem after the EPA made the manufacturer change the chemical(s) used in the manufactur...

Re: All Urethane.
I use urethane almost exclusively in league at this pone particular house that has no wicks in the machine from 10 out. Lately, the “lane man” uses a catsup bottle with a new yorker style squirt top to apply the oil and use the machine to buff it out. With reactive you either have bowl deep inside a...

Re: Copying a Switch Grip with unknown specs
Jonell makes a very nice pitch gauge for measure large holes such as SG and IT outer sleeves use. If you do this kind of work, it’s a must-have. In lieu of a pitch gauge for large holes, one can drill a concentric hole in each type of interchangeable thumb system’s inner sleeve and/or slug (dependin...

An interestingly good way to finish cut a plug
Today I took a brand new hacksaw blade, brought it to my table belt sander, and sanded and polished the non-cutting side of the blade at a few degrees off normal using 1000 grit paper. I found that if I bow the blade to the curvature of a bowling ball and lay it one its side with the sharpened edge ...

Re: INNOVATIVE PLUG CUTTER
Undo the set screws and align the blade so that it will be equal when you rotate it at 0 - 0. Of course make sure your press is calibrated and accurate at 0 - 0. Might be the cutter... might be the press. Thanks for your reply. I already checked all of that and it the mill drill is only 6 - 9 month...

Re: INNOVATIVE PLUG CUTTER
I have an Innovative plug cutter and I don’t like it. It’s about 6 months old and I haven’t used it too much. I don’t like the way it comes pre-dulled. When cutting plugs down, instead of just gradually shaving the plug down, it really rub-ablates and generates too much heat from the friction. The p...
