Re: Dual Angle Layout Effective For Everyone?

Thanks Eric,
I'm curious to know when you give recommendations for layouts if you take into consideration whether or not a bowler uses their thumb or if you just use tilt, rotation, speed, and rev rate?

Re: thumbless bowler ideas

What ball are you using in the videos and what is the layout? I know there are people smarter than me on here but to me it looks like the ball is just skidding and has no time to react. We would need to know the exact measurements of axis tilt, axis rotation, and rev rate to give an exact layout rec...

Re: thumbless bowler ideas

Welcome Spencer, Was the PAP measured with the Method or a different ball? Does the ball that the PAP was taken from have a thumb hole drilled in it? I don't use a thumb either. Your PAP location will change depending on whether or not a thumb hole is drilled into the ball. Pearl and polished balls ...

Re: Need help on Ball Selection

I would save your money until someone is willing to help you learn to throw a hook or you get lessons from a coach.

As long as you are throwing a straight ball I wouldn't buy a new ball as it won't help very much if any.

Out of the 6 balls mentioned I like the Hammer Vibe.

Re: Making adjustments when when playing deeper angles.

Krava, I play deeper than you and still move 2 and 1 sometimes. It all depends on how many people are playing a similar line. On our 5 man team league sometimes I do move 5 and 2 or 5 and 3 if the majority are playing the same line. I would hesitate to say that a 2 and 1 move doesn't work for you wh...

Re: Layout Advice Track Paradox

I've been bowling with this ball a little more and love it. Whenever I want to play down and in because every one else is swinging it this ball works perfectly. Thanks again for everyone's advice! I do have one more question. Right now the surface on the ball is oob. If I change the surface to a sli...

Re: can't stop pulling it.

Two-handed and two-finger is easier to get revs with. And that attracts young people: Shortcuts. 30% of people playing casually (open play) under 30 play with two fingers here. The few that take the step up to joining the local bowling club struggle with regular one-handed bowling with hook, and ge...

Re: "throwing away a good game in the last frame"

i used to be able to throw a straight ball with anything i had but when i raised my backswing i couldn't do that anymore. so now when i have any right side spares i throw a back up ball. i have gotten good enough at it that if i had to i could throw back up for strikes too (shot 166 with it before ...

Re: Surface Speculation

I may have this backwards but I believe jumping grits, for example 1000 then 4000, has a tendency to make the ball more skid/snap, where as, using the pads in order like 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000, then 4000 has a tendency to smooth out the reaction. Hope this helps.

Re: High Track, low oil volume

Good Afternoon Chip, Do you use your thumb as I've seen 2 handers that do? If you don't use your thumb is the ball that your PAP was determined from have a thumb hole? The reason why I ask is I don't use a thumb and my PAP moved quite a bit from having a thumb hole to not having a thumb hole drilled...

Re: Dual Angle Layout Effective For Everyone?

Interesting. I’ve just yet to work with a 2 hander that has those specs. Most are near 0 to negative that I’ve seen. My sons pap is like 6 1/4 right and 1.5 down. I don’t remember exactly but that’s close Fufu, Out of curiosity is your sons span around 3 inches and is the ball drilled with a thumb ...

Re: Dual Angle Layout Effective For Everyone?

You assume the 2 bowlers have the same PAP. No thumb bowlers can be very different completely changing what the layout actually is. What ball is being used in this exercise? Eric, For this exercise lets use the track paradox. I find your statement about no thumb bowlers intriguing and ask in what w...

Re: "throwing away a good game in the last frame"

I don't see how you throw the ball in the gutter especially when you start it that far left. But i haven't played on a pattern that I had to get the ball outside of 5. throwing straight down 5 or 5 out to 3 i can understand a gutter. i don't usually get mad, the first emotion I have shown all seaso...

Re: Layout of the Future

In another low flare thread, Eric suggested that this layout (layout E, total control asym), may not be ideal for someone with higher tilt and rotation. How would you modify the angles or pin to pap in order to play straighter with a stronger asymm ball for a higher rotation and tilt bowler? Thanks...

Re: Dual Angle Layout Effective For Everyone?

I understand the wiki and have graduated from the class. In my example the ball should go long with a nice arc. I'm trying to learn why me and someone else would have different reactions even if we had the same specs just because you throw with a thumb and I don't? I appreciate everyone that has res...

Re: "throwing away a good game in the last frame"

Krava, On the 3 10 you could be creating too much angle or you could be using the wrong mark. Standing at the last dot and shooting at the 3rd arrow is the ball missing the 10 to the left or the right as that may tell you where to make your adjustment. Where do you stand for the 3 6 10 and how well ...

Re: Dual Angle Layout Effective For Everyone?

Yes the DA system works the same for everyone. “Pin under” means diddly squat. What matters is the way it’s drilled not the way it looks. As a PSO, it’s the thing I fight the most. People say “it doesn’t look like my buddies”.....Or I get told I’m using “exotic” layouts when I’m simply giving peopl...

This is good in theory, but in practice who is going to be the "+" sign sheriff? How will you be able to prove which orientation was used? It's going to be his word against your word. Worthless rule. -- JohnP You are absolutely correct John as the bowler is the only one who really knows w...

Re: Dual Angle Layout Effective For Everyone?

You can use your thumb in grip center for layout purposes without having to drill the thumb but always use the same pseudo span. Mitch Beasley tech director from Track taught me that on Blueprint you can cheat the program by entering the thumbhole values to be 1/4” deep and 1/4” wide so that the pr...
