Money For Bowling
Since stopping any involvement with tobacco, since August 26th, I have had more money for bowling!! I smoked since I was eighteen (I’m 61 now).

Re: How to adjust to DRY lanes
............. I moved as far inside as possible - laydown around 25, and targeting 15ish at the dots.......... Not sure if I am reading this right.........you are starting off at the extreme inside, and ending up around board twenty five? I remember watching a video from the “Bowling Academy,” (or ...

Re: Thumb Swelling Tricks?
JohnP: Not a mistake.....but don’t forget, that’s .100 per side. I “requested” or “suggested” that he open it up that much, but I can’t say that I know that he actually increased the diameter that much. I didn’t pull out my calipers to verify it. I suppose I COULD have gone down the road of thumb in...

Re: Thumb Swelling Tricks?
My alley of choice was swarming with little kids last night!! So I went into the Pro Shop and asked the fella in there to give me another .200 of diameter to my thumb hole, on the ball that I was getting hung up in. He also put one piece of some “special” kind of tape (?) Without a less than one hou...

Thumb Swelling Tricks?
When my thumb swells, like it does on most of us I suppose, I haven’t figured out exactly what I need to do to stop that, or to fix that, or to work around that....... I don’t know if the air is supposed to help, that blows out of the back end of the ball return; or if powder is supposed to help. I ...

Re: I STINK At This!
Great responses all!! Thanks for taking the time! Understanding that I need to keep a rational head about this whole thing, and realizing the truth about the real priorities in life, bowling not being the more important item in the list of priorities in my world, I can laugh off my stupid mistakes a...

Re: I STINK At This!
Did you join a senior league yet? Bowling during free-bowl is a crap shoot on getting a reliable environment on seeing what you are doing. Joining a league will get you around seasoned people who can give you advice and talk theory for a couple hours each week or just shoot the shit. Always somethi...

I STINK At This!
I believe that, having a ball (the “RIGHT” ball) drilled for my hand, (fingertip Grip) would increase my chances of becoming a more consistent bowler. I believe that having a decent pair of bowling shoes, helps in “feel” and performance. I believe that being as consistent with my approach as possibl...

Re: Ball Damage From Ball Return
With regard to leaving the ball at the front desk… This family that owns this alley, I consider to be reputable, and I deal directly with the owner and his son. So for me, I have no issue with leaving the ball there. It is an alley that I frequent so it’s not like it’s just a one time deal. To be ho...

Re: Ball Damage From Ball Return
I brought it to the attention of the Alley owner immediately, after the ball came back, and they said they would “plug and redrill” the thumb hole. I had to leave it there however, because the Pro Shop was closed, and they were up against a holiday weekend. Presumably it was fixed as of last night, ...

Ball Damage From Ball Return
My Storm Match Up ball, was thrown down the lane the other day, and came back with a giant chunk out of it by the thumbhole. So I making an assumption that the mechanism that resets the pins and returns the balls, damaged it. I guess that makes me curious how many of you have had damage to your ball...

Re: First ball out on freshly oiled house shot
My low game in both leagues this year was the first game. So I am looking to improve my first game ball reaction. On the left side with fresh oil, it plays sort of sport pattern like with not much miss room. The ball that works later in the 2nd game and 3rd is a bit too skid flip in the first game....

Re: Wrist Support Recommendations?
What keeps the ball on your hand during the backswing? Inertia, grip, or position of the ball in relationship to the wrist? I only mention that portion of the swing because that’s just me trying to figure it out. I suppose it could be very definitely related to a lot of different factors. My wrist p...

Re: Lane Play Advice Needed
If you were actually aiming at the five board arrow (which is first arrow) as you said above. Then I wouldn't think you would hit the second arrow (the 10 board arrow). Now if you meant second arrow in your other post, you still would have to be drifting way back right. Going for the 2nd arrow. You...

Re: Lane Play Advice Needed
Well I can’t say that I got good results on every throw, but I also can’t say that I actually hit the second arrow either. Reason I even tried to go to the extreme left was because I had seen a bunch of videos where the boiler was demonstrating different balls, and it seemed like they were throwing ...

Wrist Support Recommendations?
I don’t want a wrist support that is some sort of RoboCop type deal, but I do need something for my right wrist because I’m feeling pain down inside the joints and bones.
Is there an inexpensive alternative that will give me the support I needed, and help alleviate some of that pain?

Re: Lane Play Advice Needed
You mention your move at the arrows, but you still want to "throw it out." Have you considered moving left with your feet and your eyes, as well as your breakpoint? I think that you will find that when everyone else is still trying to throw it out to eight board, there is still plenty of ...

Re: USBC New Ball Specs
Ya know......come to think of it.........I don’t recall EVER noticing a balance hole in a “Professional” bowler’s ball. Not saying they don’t have em.....just saying “I’ve” never noticed one on any ball, on any televised event (never BEEN to a “Pro” event in person).
