Mini timelapse of my bowling ball cracking !

This ball cracked a few years ago. Hammer replaced it. However i also had it repaired. It held for 2-3 years, and now it cracked again, but on a different area. RIP Scandal Pearl.

How many balls have you had that cracked? I'm at 4 so far.

2nd 3M abrasive pad tested with the spinner and laser scanner. The Green one. Interesting performance ! Check it out --->

Scotch-Brite tests are back. Spinner performance this time !

Hello people, i hope you are all well ! Last year i did tests with 5 different 3M Scotch Brite pads. Used by hand with moderate and high sanding pressure. There is a playlist on my channel with the results. This time i do the same but with the spinner and only using 1 pressure, a bit above moderate....

Are all coverstocks sanded equally ? An interesting experiment !

I did an interesting experiment on my channel, with the help of a spinner and a laser scanner, that you might find interesting ! All feedback welcome ! (long video, because i include the experiment uncut. If you don't have time, check the first 5 minutes then go to 26:25 ) https://youtu.be/zUY0hIECUbk

Re: Surface adjustment advice

Lane shine (according to mr.Hickland) is around 4700-4800. It is true that without a laser scanner people are way off on what they think their ball has. I witness that when i started using my laser scanner for experiments. You can check some of them on my channel. I just uploaded a relevant one toda...

Re: Does the type of ball/core matter when measuring PAP?

You can measure PAP while the ball is in the air, but you need to do it later on a computer. And the camera has to be decent and video record with good lighting. But i doubt it would vary much because a) most people's loft is small b) the air time in general is very small, c)many people do not have ...

Re: Modifying Two-Handed Technique

I once saw an Asian guy have the smoothest 2 handed approach i have even seen. If i find the video i will show it to you.

Alternatively, if you enough strength in your hands, you could try the Tom Daugherty way. Very unique, but he is 45 and still can do it.

Abralon experiment part 1.

Frequent scenario : your ball is polished or lane shined, and you decide you need surface. So you grab your 1000 Abralon and do your usual sanding by hand ... If you think you got the ball near 1000...you need to check this out.... -----> https://youtu.be/qbPEEnpZwm8 Any thoughts/suggestions welcome...

Re: Surface adjustment advice

I think it will be a trial and error thing. You could also try 1000-3000, or 1000-4000 and see how it goes. Good luck !

Re: How do YOU remove the factory polish on new balls?

One thing I used to do was a “sheen” finish. I’d do it by doing the final polish of the ball, on my spinner with either a used grey scotchbrite or a white one. It would give me a “broken in “ feel with the ball which maybe what you want? Yes. Thank you. I just wanted to hear how people do it, as i ...

Re: Sym vs Asym

We have said numerous times that core shape matters and it couldn’t be stated enough so I appreciate your post. The geometric shape has everything to do with the amount of gyroscopic potential that can be achieved with a bowling ball. This topic is one of the areas that I was most excited to learn ...

Re: One-take drone video of Minnesota bowling alley goes viral

I watched that video. The guy flying it was extremely skilled. For coaching you don't want movements like that, that is for entertainment. One could just install/set up cameras of what he wants to see as a coach. At most, a drone for coaching could be used to just hover at a specific point that a ca...

Re: Sym vs Asym

Because of the PSA, the Mass Bias strength. The stronger it is the greater the gyroscopic effect and how it influences Tilt. I shouldn't have said, "does not exist with Symmetricals" , but rather is very weak in Symmetrical balls. Oh ok, got you now. Thanks. Now to explain why the mass bias enhance...

Re: Sym vs Asym

With a Short Pin to PAP on a Symmetrical ball the Tilt will collapse very quickly because the Low Rg axis has more influence on the tilt than the the Mass Bias or PSA because there is not enough Asymmetry. But... Mass Bias, PSA, Preferred Spin Axis is the stronger influence with an Asymmetrical bal...

Re: Sym vs Asym

When the ball hits the pocket with too much tilt it has a tendency to bounce off the pocket, too much deflection, poor carry percentage. Ok. But isn't the player supposed to make his ball hit later when his tilt will be lower? The shorter pin to PAP distances loose tilt at a slower pace. Can you ex...

Re: How do YOU remove the factory polish on new balls?

Thanks Janne ! I was more interested though as to what each person does if he just wants to only remove the polish of a ball that he wants to make it slide just a bit less. Not change it to 3000 or less. For example you may have a ball that is polished, but you want it to be just a little bit duller...

If i lived in the US, i would have tried to meet him. I got to know him from his impact on the sport, via the internet, and through the testimonies and opinions of others. It is sad to lose him from covid , he could have been with us some more years. Let's continue to honor him by helping our sport !
