Re: Layout/surface advice for next ball for THS
What would my totally strong layout be for a symmetrical ball now that we can’t have weight holes? I was thinking xx-3.5-35. Is this acceptable? Thank you!

Re: Dual Angle/Pin Placement Affecting Warranty
Hi Glenn, no worries. I talked to some friends and I got the impression that the 1 inch rule isn’t strictly enforced but there does need to be a decent amount of space between the pin and finger. A 30 degree Val with maybe a 5.25 p2p might be all that is needed but I guess I’ll just have to test it....

Re: Dual Angle/Pin Placement Affecting Warranty
Justin, Just curious. Are your specs still 4.75 over and 0? When I mark out 30 x 5 x 40 with your specs, I don't get a pin that close to the finger holes. And with my assumptions, making the P2P 5.25 as the only change should clear the warranty issue. What am I missing? Hi Glenn, I’m still going wi...

Re: Dual Angle/Pin Placement Affecting Warranty
Adjust layouts to drill the pin out. Thanks for the feedback. Putting the pin in the ring puts me at roughly 30x4.5x45 instead of 30x5x40. On an asym will the 1/2 inch shorter pin to pap offset the 5 degree increase on the VAL? Sorry if these questions seem silly. I’ve had tons of success since I s...

Dual Angle/Pin Placement Affecting Warranty
Hello All, My favorite layout is the 30x5x40. This layout causes me to bump the pins and void the warranty. It hasn’t really been an issue, but I noticed a ball I was going to sell has a tiny crack in the pin. Also, I noticed a brand new ball with a 35* VAL angle had a crack in the sliver of resin b...

Re: IT vs Switch Grip
Cecil at Vise taught me a quickie method for fixing a failed Ball-IT. Drill out the Ball-IT with 1.125" drill, 1" deep. Install a VISE 1.125" slug in the hole and drill out the excess with the IT drill bit. works like charm and only takes about 10 minutes. Wow that is smart. Thank you.

Re: IT vs Switch Grip
The shop I work in uses the Switch Grip. I really have not been that satisfied with the product. Idk if I simply got a bad batch of inner sleeves, but they wouldn't stay locked in and fall out in the machines or under the ball return. Myself, and my counterpart, are looking at whether or not we sho...

Re: Layout/surface advice for next ball for THS
Sorry to bump an old thread. Just wanted to say thanks to Eric! Last week I rolled a 300 with a Black ops @ 30x5x40 with box finish in game 3 of a second shift league. The totally strong layout has allowed me to stay in the oil and move left with ease (something that used to be a struggle for me). I...

Re: Layout/surface advice for next ball for THS
I'm an amateur, not a coach or ball driller, just wanted to pass this along. I'm also a big Cell fan and generally kept them polished. I had a similar problem this year with carrydown and have had some success with my Hyper Cell Fused by scuffing it with a 3000 abralon pad which makes it less jumpy...

Re: Layout/surface advice for next ball for THS
FYI, when measuring your PAP with an Armadillo, your axis tilt can be calculated from the numbers embossed next to the ribs in the pin/CG locator section. (inches) For example, if your track aligns with the rib at 7", the arc distance across the NAP would be 13". 13.5 - 7 = 6.5 6.5 * 2 = ...

Re: Layout/surface advice for next ball for THS
Knowing your tilt is very important when tuning in your arsenal with layouts. Right now you have the 2:1 ratio 90* Total 60-5-30 This is Benchmark for a slightly speed dominant bowler lower tilt and higher Rotation. The 5" Pin to PAP is forward rolling for lower Rotation. You are slightly spee...

Thank you for the information Eric. I’ll recheck my PAP and find all the other numbers.

Layout/surface advice for next ball for THS
Hello All, I have a Hyper Cell Fused @ 60x5x30 and the box (1500 polish) finish. I've had a good amount of luck with Cell balls and similar asymmetricals with polish. I throw ~16mph (on the lane display) and have ~300rpm. I have a PAP of 4.5 inches over and sorry, I haven't found my tilt and axis ro...

Bowling ball axis planes
Silly question. Why is the pin on a bowling ball considered the x axis? I guess each industry has different rules for denoting planes.
You guys are awesome. Thank you.

Symmetrical Ball Layouts Moving Forward (PSA Findings)
I don't know if this question has been asked. I'm a novice and just started dabbling in dual angle layouts so go easy on me. In Mo's "The New Reality of BALL MOTION - The Rules Have Changed" Video he mentions that the PSA migrates to the thumb on symmetrical balls with no weight hole ( htt...
