Re: How to clean sliding soles ?

Since getting the Tour Ultra 3G bowling shoes, I have been cleaning the leather soles with the solvent Naphtha. I put a little bit on a clean terry cloth rag and rub vigorously, then I dry them with another clean rag until most of the solvent and dirt is soaked up. The rest will evaporate quickly. B...

Re: oval vs round thumb slug and huge gap it creates

You might try adding tape or the Magic Carpet where you feel the gap. Also it could be that your thumb shape is not as oval as you think. Take measurements of your thumb in several spots and at various angles with a micrometer. Everyone's thumb is just a little different. If your thumb has some abno...

Re: Finger tip help

Fake Vacu-Grip Diagram fakevacugrips.jpg I glue my inserts only near the bottom of the holes. I cut some shims out of thick plastic (about the thickness of blister packs) that can be used in the back or sides of the finger holes to adjust the snugness. Your PSO might be able to do this without plugg...

Re: USBC rules regarding "a strike not earned" or malfunctio

USBC RULE 10 might cover the situation you are describing: Rule 10 – Provisional Ball A provisional ball or frame shall be bowled when a protest involving a foul, legal pinfall or a dead ball is made and cannot be resolved by the two team captains or a tournament official. The following procedures a...

Everyone I've spoken to about this says that wrist devices have added revs to their game.

Re: Do Radical balls have tendency to "die"

Possibly, but I would need it to fit in my bag. I haven't found one suitable to this point. Not saying they don't exist though. I use a spray bottle from a vision center at one of the big box stores. It used to contain eyeglass cleaning solution. It's small enough to fit into your bowling bag and s...

Ever bowled in the Petersen Classic tournament near Chicago, IL?
Here's what we've faced to the left of Lane 1.

Re: Do Radical balls have tendency to "die"

I usually use 91% Isopropyl Alcohol. It appears to dissolve lane conditioner well, but some of the USBC approved bowling ball cleaners seem to leave the surface tackier than alcohol alone. Not sure if this is a residue left on the ball or if the cleaners react with the chemical makeup of the outer s...

Re: Columbia 300 Cuda/C

Walter Ray has a Black Diamond as a spare ball, probably what you could use it for. I had a Black Diamond too back in the day. As I recall, there used to be a dramatic difference in ball reaction between the Cuda/C and the BD. I have a Brunswick Axis that I use for spares. But thanks for the info o...

Columbia 300 Cuda/C

I recently found a Single-Drill Cuda/C (pink pin and lettering) in great condition at the local Goodwill Store. Brought back memories of the first 300 game I rolled with one about 20 years ago. Do any of you still bowl with this ball on a THS? Would anyone suggest re-drilling for use on today's cond...

Re: Lowest scoring clean game/series

Fascinating.

FYI: The lowest possible "clean game" would be 100.

The USBC might be consider adding a category for this special feat. I'd suggest calling it "Best Fail." ;)

Re: Help Nord Score On House Shots

. . . Take a bowler like Jesper Svensson. He only uses one ball, the Pitch Black urethane. But he has a whole arsenal of Pitch Black urethanes at different grits and layouts standing by so he can grab another as he plays and the shot changes. Isn't that a better strategy? Obviously I can't have 20 ...

Re: Help Nord Score On House Shots

Try Goo Gone to get that mess out of the thumb hole. I dampen a paper towel with it and work it around the inside of the hole with a finger. It's citrus based. After use I use rubbing alcohol to remove the last of the Goo Gone. You can find it at any WalMart, Home Depot, etc. See the link for more ...

Re: Help Nord Score On House Shots

And here is a pic of the thumbhole showing all the goo in there. It is sticky and oily and will not come out with isopropyl or nail polish remover. It has turned into a weird sticky goo. I always use Naphtha (available at most paint depts. of home center stores) or Rubber Cement Thinner (available ...

Re: Help Nord Score On House Shots

What do I want? 1. A style of bowling that is non-strain on my body, requires little effort, is repeatable and provides consistency and reliability. Something I can easily do until I am 100. 2. A style of bowling that promotes good ball action that results in higher scoring with less effort and gre...

Re: Left Hip Pain

I took the new ball out to the Alley this morning and played three games by myself. I won’t mention the lousy score while I got used to throwing the new ball, but I can tell you that my left hip was hurting and I couldn’t put my weight on it without pain, as I slid up to the foul line. Could be Art...

Krava: I am not understanding what you are trying to accomplish. Can you rephrase your question? The title of this thread is: "Controling [sic] the breakpoint [sic] (not going inside of it)" So, my understanding is that you do not want to miss to the left of your break point, right? Yet wh...

. . . stance I don't get. . . . STANCE: The spot on which you stand when you start your approach. I use a number to designate this. "20" for the center of the approach. "27" for 7 boards left of center, etc. . . . I had target as at arrows and at breakpoint. . . . TARGET: Use 2 ...
