Re: The story so far how much does it cost to plug and drill?

How the fucking hell is it so hard to answer one or two god damned questions? How much does it cost to plug and drill a bowling ball. I am not asking what ball I should get or how to bowl better I am simply asking that question. Why the fuck can't you guys answer that. Glad you're back. Just so you...

Re: The story so far how much does it cost to plug and drill?

We're getting somewhere now. My shop is in a suburb of Detroit. It seems like there is a bowling center on just about every corner. That's quite different from where you're located. The prices here vary greatly and for a variety of reasons, mostly location. If a person is in Detroit, they might pay ...

Re: The story so far how much does it cost to plug and drill?

As you can see, there is much more to becoming a capable bowler than meets the eye. Good bowling technique usually begins with a ball that is conducive to your physical needs. With today's game going in so many different directions, you'll spend some time and resources figuring out what works best f...

Re: The story so far how much does it cost to plug and drill?

Prices vary greatly from area to area. Ask around and try to find out who provides the best service. You might even get real lucky and find something laying around in a shop that fits perfectly. But, the person you're talking to should be knowledgeable enough to determine if it's right for you. I th...

Re: The story so far how much does it cost to plug and drill?

Do it right. Go to the pro shop, buy a Brunswick Rhino or a Radical Rack Attack, they're both beginner balls that will introduce you to the modern game. They're on the lower end of the spectrum. Also, most proshops have a 2nd hand rack where there are used balls for a lower price. These balls have ...

Re: Returning to bowling after COVID Shutdown

I’m an OSHA inspector with the Air Force, workers are decontaminating everything touched daily. But there’s still an accepted risk no matter what implementations are made. As far as drinking disinfectant, we’ve been recommending workers to gargle types of Antiseptic mouthwash as the virus is known ...

Re: Returning to bowling after COVID Shutdown

I agree completely. We all need to relax. A relaxed mind can think better. If one is concerned than they need to turn off the TV, relax the mind, and do some research. The TV news is designed to hype people up. The doctors who are experts in the fields of concern that I listed in my last response a...

Re: Returning to bowling after COVID Shutdown

I think we should relax a little bit here and focus on solutions that help. Focus on the probable, not the possible. Mav, that is precisely the point, no one really knows what to focus on. We do know a couple of things, older people with underlying conditions are more at risk and the virus is mutat...

Re: Returning to bowling after COVID Shutdown

My bowling brothers and sisters I have been a practicing doctor for over 30 years and I am required to keep up to date on the science of health. Here is a quote from the World Health Organization (WHO) from just a week or so ago up dating their guidelines on mask wearing. “The widespread use of mas...

Re: Returning to bowling after COVID Shutdown

Admittedly, since the beginning of this pandemic, I have gone into a self protection mode. I did not / do not want to contract the virus. The virus is not deadly to all that contract it, but it is deadly to some. Recently, a very, very good friend came down with COVID-19, ended up in the hospital, l...

Re: Does cosmic bowling etc help you train at all?

People love glow bowl. It is designed to create a carnival type atmosphere which is highly desirable for birthday parties. From a bowler's perspective, a bowler could still execute fundamentally sound approach techniques in the glow environment. The mental aspect would revolve around the type of par...

Re: Observations and some questions

I know that I "grab" the ball at the top and bottom of the swing and also wonder if this is a result of a less than optimum fit. Observations and opinions are certianly wanted and welcome. It is essential to remain calm all the way from the start of the approach to the release. The best fit in the ...

Re: Why does no one like the USBC?

OK, here we go: HOW do we make these (and other) changes? No idea. USBC seems to be VERY top heavy. I was told that to make any kind of change, you have to go to the convention, rub elbows, do unspeakable things to unspeakable people, and work your way to the top and then, after a long time and a l...

Re: Why does no one like the USBC?

I read a lot of complaints on here about the USBC, but what I am not reading is any thoughts on how to address the problem. I feel the USBC is an organization little influenced by outside forces, staffed by "lifers", and is the wholly-owned subsidiary of the ball mfgs. and bowling centers. So, how ...

Re: Why does no one like the USBC?

Very insightful post boomer. I'll take it a step further, the pro shop becomes the information liaison for just about everything ABC / USBC conjures up. I've had a long, productive career in the pro shop business. My philosophy, help people bowl better, period. Taking that into consideration, talkin...

Re: Why does no one like the USBC?

Has anyone ever witnessed someone who constantly diverts attention away from themselves and blames everything that went wrong on something other than themselves? When that happens, there is a lot of confusion, especially among people who just don't give a damn. Everyone starts pointing fingers in di...

Re: Why does no one like the USBC?

Can you answer what your issues with the USBC are? We would have to go a long way back, but throughout the years they have implemented rules and regulations that have destroyed the general bowling population. But, like any sport, there are different levels of capability. Let's explore that for a mo...

As Boomer wrote, it's difficult to 100% satisfy everyone in a large group of people.

Perhaps a satisfaction rating say 1-10 with the high number being the most favorable score ???
Your scoring system is much too kind. To make it fair, could we start at negative 100 ?

Re: House balls with scraps and groves and dents?

House balls are subjected to a lot of abuse, also, they lack the maintenance which is required to keep a bowling ball in good condition. You mentioned, you're not quite ready to invest in your own ball. Because house balls are drilled to be "one size fits all", it is a rare case that a house ball wo...
