Re: Completely forgetting what to do when the time is right for it

I signed up for the sport league for the summer to get me more training to deal with things. If there is a summer league. Sport leagues are great! The one thing bowlers learn in a hurry (I hope), let the ball go, resist the urge to try and make the ball do something. Most sport leagues supply infor...

Re: Over Rolled Full Roller?

Also, check his foot alignment at the foul line. If the slide foot is almost parallel to the foul line (sideways, not pointed in the vicinity of his intended target), that's at least half the problem. The issue with improper foot alignment can lead to the shoulders being in the wrong position at the...

Re: Completely forgetting what to do when the time is right for it

"Has anyone else ever not make the proper adjustment they should have done, knowing they should have done it?" As our game improves, it is conceivable, we will question ourselves. Reason? We might not have enough experience or confidence in ourselves to definitively think, this is the proper move /...

Re: Need more help on playing the lane "extreme hooking backends"

You might be over thinking the game a little bit. Being successful at bowling is no different than having success as, let's say, a baseball pitcher. All sports are the same. There is a point in an athletic process where everything must be in the proper location. That position is the release point. S...

Re: Need more help on playing the lane "extreme hooking backends"

Krava, if you're practicing, that's one thing, if you're bowling for money, that's another. Most effective bowlers have a comfort zone. Figure out what you do best and do it. Are you more effective on the outside, up the track, or the inside of the lane. When you figure that out, learn how to stay i...

Re: My thoughts on PBA telecasts I've watched lately

A discussion about Topography on a televised PBA event? That would open up a can of worms at your local tenpin center the likes of which has never been experienced before.

Re: My thoughts on PBA telecasts I've watched lately

The PBA is unrecognizable today. In other words, there is little similarity between the game presently seen on television when compared to the old ABC bowling telecast of yesteryear. That is to be expected though, what other sport in the world has gone through such significant changes? Personally, I...

Re: Getting Fingers on the inside of the ball

Please stop squeezing the ball and just let it go. If the ball drops on the floor or flies off your hand behind you, pick it up and try again. DO NOT SQUEEZE THE BALL....EVER

Re: help identifying ball roll

krava: "in the end, I will work on brad and kyle's 7 arrow shot" You're kidding, right? krava, there are very good players around town that have tons of 300's and 800's, they never play the 7th arrow. Why? Because there are better ways to control ball reaction. It seems, with all the physical issue...

Re: help identifying ball roll

Professional bowlers will adjust their release mechanism to accommodate lanes conditions. Bad ball reaction can occur on any particular shot in a match. While we tout, watch the ball as it is going down the lane, sometimes, in one shot, the ball reacts in a totally unexpected manner than that which ...

Re: Observation without judgement

I believe they are referring to the inner mind. There is a calm, peaceful place that really great athletes live in when they are competing, it is void of conscientious thoughts. It does not take place without a tremendous amount of physical training though. Physical training, working on various part...

Re: being in a slump

Posting a shot is a good idea, but what you do and how you get there have to be considered also. First, forget about what you used to do, that only serves to make matters worse. Nothing creates more issues than trying to emulate the "other" you. It is time to step into the present, really let it all...

Re: achieving "swoop motion" or circular arc after ball isth

To achieve a great swing, first and foremost, the ball must fit correctly. Do Not Squeeze The Thumb.....Ever Let the laws of physics provide the swing motion. Momentum, inertia, and gravity are the key elements to a great swing. Do Not Inhibit The Swing Motion By Exerting Muscular Pressure To The Ba...

Re: Storm | Pin Buffer Layout System - Part 1 & 2 & 3

I am currently struggling with a dual-angle conundrum. Lets say I have two bowlers with very similar metrics, but different PAP coordinates. If they both calculate to 60x4x40 layouts, the gripping holes will intersect the core differently for these two bowlers, and thus change the shape of the core...

Re: Your Most Memorable Moment In Bowling?

Around Detroit, every young bowler had aspirations of bowling for a team in the Detroit All-Star Classic. The way a person got an opportunity in the Classic was to bowl in another league where someone from the All-Star league was bowling. There were several better leagues in Detroit the Classic bowl...

Maybe the lane guy figured out how to lay out patterns that would break down in a similar fashion to that of the right side? That would mess with any lefty's head.

Re: USBC says no more U20

Yes, the NCAA is another topic in itself. We could go off in a hundred different directions on that one. About the U 20, people were crying about the age differential way back. It seemed, guys with full beards were bowling against children and taking every advantage of that situation. Not only that,...

Re: USBC says no more U20

I ~agree with kids over 18 not bowling against 12 year olds, BUT, what do collegiate bowlers bowl in during the off season. All adult leagues compete for money and the NCAA being the NCAA, they would gladly pull eligibility over winning $30 for a season. USBC didn't fully flesh this out (as usual) ...

Re: USBC says no more U20

The real issue with U 20, it's taken USBC this long to realize it was a problem. Similar type scenarios have existed forever. How much sleep does USBC get anyway?
