Help get bowling in the Olympics
There is a movement to get bowling as an official sport in the 2024 Olympics in Paris. There is a survey and a petition to sign on http://www.bowlingforgold.com . It's being spearheaded by a bowler and he needs your help to push it. It's also on fb at Movement for Bowling in the Olympics. Please hav...

Re: How many strikes in a row have you thrown?
This is mine also. Unfortunate for me didn't shoot 800 (799). I went front 3, wow I should re-rack that, eh, what ever, pocket 7-10, wiffed them both, the 28 in-a-row, I could feel the league watching me and tugged it, 3-6-10, chop. so I've got 264-300- and 235 for 9, (799 with a frame to go) I str...

How many strikes in a row have you thrown?
I'll start one just for fun. What is the most strikes in a row you've thrown? My answer is 28. Back 8, 300, front 8. Anyone else?

Re: Chad Murphy FB post about lofting in the US Open
The problem could be a simple fix. A different version of bowling in the New England area called Candlepin uses a "Lob Line" all other lane markings are the same, dots at 6 ft, arrows at 15ft. but a solid line at 10 ft (I think) requires you to have the ball touch the lane before the line ...

Re: In need of pressional opinion. Thumb joint is in pain!
The Milkman is an excellent pro shop guy in western Mass. He's in the Berkshires. Can you narrow the "upstate" part? Albany is considered upstate, that's just over an hour. If it's closer to Niagara, that'd be different. Might still be worth the trip. Mav? Thought?

Got a little split happy. Extremely poor execution doesn't even begin to cut it. I just sucked.

Re: bowling brackets
The bracket software that comes with the BLS secretary program has a setting to keep people from getting the same opponent in multiple brackets. So I would say redrawing is NOT cheating. However, the more brackets you run, the more chances to hit the same bowler in multiple brackets. Running only 3 ...

Re: Draft League
Our scratch league here has been a draft league since before I was old enough to bowl in it. (I'm 45). It's a 3 man team. All bowlers that want in put their name in the draft. Top (number of teams) are captains. Low captain drafts first out of the pool, working your way to high average. 2nd round, l...

Re: Sad news
Our home center, Mt Greylock Bowl, hosted a PBA regional in March of 2010. Double D won that event. He was an exceptionally fun person to talk to. He will truly be missed by everyone here.

Re: Hydrophobic Technology
There is also the possibility that this would make the ball hydroplane down the lane. If that's the case, it wouldn't slow down getting to the breakpoint to have any kind of control when ( if? ) it hooks. Pretty cool technology tho.

Re: Lane Project
That looks awesome!! I can only imagine the looks you get from people that aren't expecting the arrows in your hall. Also, if I did this in my home, my 8 year old son would never stop bowling in the hallway. Toy pins, makeshift pins and anything he could find. LOL

Re: USBC Rep Asks For Input - Need Help To Respond
Ok, my 2 cents. There HAS to be a better way to read what and where oil is on a lane. The tape reading system is awful. The tapes get screwed up going into the reader, they can't be read because it doesn't read the tab at the start right, etc. There simply has to be a better way. That said, the only...

Re: PGA did it, now it's Bowlings turn
One hand..Both hands...Granny Style...as long as you stay behind the foul line why does it matter? I would make a rule that says the ball has to be on the lane before it passes the arrows. In the version of bowling known as Candlepin, they have a "lob line" at 10 feet from the foul line t...

Congrats Kelly! It is "easier" after you put the first one on the board. 800 is by no means easy, but it helps to not have the monkey on your back. Congrats again!

Re: PGA did it, now it's Bowlings turn
I see a problem with the theory that 2 handed bowlers have a decided advantage. If that were true, there would be a slew of two handers tearing up the PBA tour. At this point, there is only a handful (pun intended) The fact is, Belmo is a great shot maker. That's why he is where he is. I personally ...

Always willing to help anyone. Knows what ball you should be throwing by your description of what your seeing blind, without le...
