Re: Maurice "Mo" Pinel 1942-2021
Learned an incredible amount from that guy. He was always so energetic and willing to help even for those of us affiliated with other companies. Bowling has lost a legend, but he will never be forgotten.

Re: Storm Thunder Tape Equivalent
The Pre-cut Vise HADA thumb tape sticks a lot better than the roll, and I don't know why. I've been using the red stuff on my thumb for 10 years or so now and have no issues with it sticking. Always start it on your thumb nail and rub it a bit then pull back over the rest of your thumb. I've never h...

Re: Returning to bowling after COVID Shutdown
No signs of starting back up in NY. I think most bowlers will continue to take the summer off like they usually do, which could mean peril for many centers needing the business right away. If you want to continue to bowl at your local center, START BOWLING IMMEDIATELY AFTER THEY REOPEN. I bolded yo...

Returning to bowling after COVID Shutdown
How's everyone doing with the return to bowling after the shutdown? You going to be racing back to your local center as soon as it opens or taking some extra time off? I was all amped up, practicing almost every day, in March getting ready for my groups trip to Reno when everything came to a halt. I...

Open Championships 2020
Figure it's getting close, who's going this year and when? My group shrunk a bit due to Reno fatigue, so we're only taking 5 teams (will be at 10 or 12 again next year for Vegas). We are bowling team event March 28th at 10am, and Doubles/Singles March 29th at 1pm. If anyone is out there at that time...

Hey All, Like to bounce things off others on occasion to audit thoughts in my head. I have a Motiv Alpha Jackal i'm drilling up in the next week or so, ball specs: Strong Solid Cover, Core: RG 2.47 Diff .054 Int Diff .015 Looking at using a control layout on the ball for fresh backends on tougher pa...

Re: Motiv Tank Blitz thoughts
Mike, From what I have seen of the Tank Blitz....why not take a Venom Shock put 2000 on it as in the Blitz OOB and you would have the same motion and total hook of the Blitz? They would have to be close on the same pattern with the same layout and surface. I do see the Covert Tank as a more usable ...

Motiv Tank Blitz thoughts
Motiv has been dabbling in some new coverstock territory, with what they are marketing as Microcell Polymer. From seeing balls come through our local pro shop and bowlers around, I believe it's similar in vain as the SPEC covers that Storm is producing, as they extremely slowly absorb oil, but are n...

Re: USBC finds another way to bail out proprietors
While I respect the opinion that this is to "bail" out proprietors that aren't into investing tens of thousands to get their lanes up to spec, I also see the other side of it. I live in a small town, and not near any larger towns, most of the centers are older, aging, and their isn't money...

Jackal Ghost is the ball for that spot if looking at Motiv, similar to the LE, and very good piece, really like mine.

Re: TFCC tear, switch to left hand?
I also have had a TFCC injury and did the wait it out with therapy route to strengthen around it and deal with it instead of surgery. I have to daily stretch and do extension and flexion exercises to keep my wrist working and I don't have to, but use a wrist widget when bowling. I had to take about ...

Motiv's Covert Tank
So Motiv's latest release is marketed as not Reactive Resin, and not Urethane, but something new, barely oil absorbent. I punched one out or curiosity as it's always bugged me how power players can get really good ball reaction with Purple Hammers, and other "urethane" balls on the market,...

Re: Control layout for Symmetric ball on shorter patterns
Appreciate the replies guys! I get that the ball might not be the best, but it's just one i've got laying around, other option is a little too far on the other side of the spectrum but i'll consider as well in a Motiv Jackal Ghost (strong solid cover, assym, 2.47RG, .054diff, .015 int diff), but I w...

Control layout for Symmetric ball on shorter patterns
Have a Motiv Venom Cobra (Mild Strength shiny cover, 2.47rg .035diff) sitting around that I want to do something with this summer. I've been struggling a little bit on shorter sport patterns, mainly due to my ball roll, but I wanted to take a chance and use a ball I have laying around to try and cre...

USBC Open Championships 2018
Did a couple searches and really didn't uncover anything, I can't imagine no one on here isn't going or have gone to Syracuse this year. Also didn't see Mo video this year either (we got spoiled last year!). I'm heading out next week and bowling the 23rd and 24th, looking forward to it as it's alway...

Re: Biggest comebacks after a bad first game.
Not sure if proud or ashamed of this, but I had 146-256-300 once. Didn't make a ball change, just removed head from you know where and things clicked.
