Re: Drastic PAP Change
Mine has moved from 4 3/8"x0" to 5 3/8"x0". It seems to keep getting more and more away. Yesterday I took quite an effort to get that reading correct with couple balls and around ten frames of marking, filming, checking etc.

Re: Homemade jig chatters
The key could be to drill with very, very slow feed rate when using bigger drill bits and plug cutter. And I mean SLOW. The problems probably occur due to combined ”play” in all of the equipment including the jig, frame, support, spindle etc. Make sure that the ball is tightened to the jig.

Re: MY review of the Pyramid Phoenix Ball Revivor
Great review! Thank you very much for your effort. Some ball manufacturers have a temperature limit of 125 Fahrenheit to avoid warranty issues. I remember also seeing a 110-limit mentioned somewhere. I'm still a huge advocator for the ultrasonic cleaning. With ultrasonic you can basically get oil ou...

Re: revs
Never use your eyes to determine RPM's. It only messes things up. I made a little cheat sheet to help calculating revs on the lane faster. This is the way that I use for calculating the rev's using my phone or tablet: https://i.imgur.com/47hlfjz.jpg This works accurately on rev's up to ~450rpm. Usin...

Re: Question on lateral pitch on fingers
All around good points. But I see it more as a dynamic fit for an already good player then a one size fits all approach. Exactly. Some players may require totally different modifications to the grip that is suggested generally. Bowling should not hurt. There is also too many bowler's out there comp...

Re: Question on lateral pitch on fingers
I’ve yet to see anyone with any significant rev rate using 1/2 to 3/4 rev in the fingers. I’m in his neck of the woods and drilled a couple of his fits for people after they’ve gone to see him. One thing is for certain they aren’t hitting the ball. I think for your average player that grabs every o...

Re: An interesting experience.
A month later I took it out in practice again. The ball was doing weird things like flattening out, then "Tiering"(the only way I can describe it). The ball would shift left go straight, then shift left again, then go straight, then hit the 7 or left gutter. This sounds like you were bowl...

Re: How to deep clean my bowl
i want to know whats the best way to clean it.. An easy one.. Ultrasonic cleaner. I have a commercial one that costs something like 200euro's. I have used it to some balls more than 10 times and it always does wonders to the ball surface. I would choose that over any oven-method any day. Some ball ...

Re: Thumb problems preventing clean release
Everything sound a lot like a delivery issue. Timing is the key for basically everything. Other than that. I hang up the ball in exactly the same location with too much forward combined with little left pitch (as right hander). If i add some right pitch (or substantially more left pitch) to the hole...

Re: oval vs round thumb slug and huge gap it creates
magic carpet is thick I emailed ron and he said it is about the size of 5 pieces of white tape. I have read reviews on it and someone said it tore the back of this thumb. I have been using these carpet's for many years now. No way it is compared to 5 white tapes in reality. It is quite soft so the ...

Re: Help needed with thumb fit
If you are going to drill only few balls DIY-method, you can use "normal" 1,5" drill bits. I have one with 10mm shank... Of course it is not nearly as good option compared to a proper bowling ball drill bit but does the job. Make sure it is sharp though. I use normal drill bits for mo...

Re: Specto on PBA Telecast
That specto app is downloadable for free for any mobile device. It has the demo "location" (Atlantis, lost city) which will simulate the ball motion. At least for android. Best part of the app is the training-mode where you can choose a challenge from a huge list. For example "hit 3rd ...

Re: Specto on PBA Telecast
It measures the ball speed early on the lane (it shows on the display real quick) It measures the ball speed just before it enters the pins (it doesn't show that value) It makes the assumption that the ball is rolling during the second speed measurement. Im not confident that these are all correct....

Re: Specto on PBA Telecast
I had the chance to use this equipment a while ago. I do not know exactly on how the rev's are measured but it gave me pretty accurate results based on the release RPM's. I also took a video from the shot and verified the RPM's. There is also some reflecting tape to use with the system to get a litt...

Re: Absorption Rate Fact vs Friction
After so many times of using a ultrasonic cleaner on a very soaked bowling ball I am quite confident to say that the absorbion rate is a major factor on ball motion. Using some older bowling ball that is soaked in oil after many games you can clearly see the oil rings after a throw (the surface wont...

Re: Severe bruising on top of the thumb
I don't really have a late timing, but I have several other combinations of things that isn't right. And I know that timing and other things can screw up the grip. But here we are in a catch 22, I need a grip that works to train to not get in a grip that doesn't work. And to get a grip that work, I...

Re: Severe bruising on top of the thumb
Not knowing your situation or spec's but here is some general observations about gripping and thumb fit. - Late timing can cause gripping, snapping, ball dropping and eventually the feeling that thumbhole is not tight enough. For most times, this is the cause for everything that is "wrong"...

For the beveling process. I started using some old Mo's beveling instructions. I can not find the exact instructions anywhere but here is basically the process in reply #5: https://www.ballreviews.com/drilling-layouts/not-enough-bevel-in-thumbholea/?PHPSESSID=0roqr0k8dkltlq89ac1c3o2470 Sorry for the...
