Re: Should I get' the phase 3?
Does the phaze 3 hit in the back end like the Astro? I absolutely love the way my astro turns the corner I just wish it would start a second sooner so I would stop leaving ring tens. It's a different shape than the AstroPhysix. Phaze III is quicker and sharper off the friction. I have mine drilled ...

Re: Should I get' the phase 3?
I normally knock the shine off of Storm Pearls with a 4000 or 3000 pad by hand. I have both the AstroPhysix and the Phaze III. I have both at the Factory finish 1500 Polish (for now). The R3S hybrid cover on the Phaze III picks up earlier, but it also responds to friction quicker. It forced me to mo...

Re: Finger Grip fit etc
Maybe you were hitting up on the ball and she gave you advise to get rid of them. Eric’s game is solid, he doesn’t need to change anything unless he doesn’t like the feel. No doubt, I was hitting up on the ball... Along with a lot of other things that I needed to work on to transform my game. This ...

Re: Finger Grip fit etc
I'd like to know the reasoning behind this. I'm very soft at the bottom and use lifts. Switching from lifts to ovals may help clear a stretched span. Simply that lifts will cause a bowler to hit up on a ball. This is not necessary with modern bowling balls and leads to inconsistent ball reaction. H...

Re: Finger Grip fit etc
This may sound stupid... but I've found this to be true: Grips vary by manufacturer and color. I prefer the feel and sizing of the Vise grips that are black in color. I find that the orange and purple color have a bit more forgiveness to them. If the black feels a little tight in a particular ball I...

Re: Buddies pro shop custom drilling
I've had your guy in Dallas ship me drilled balls before. Why don't you just give him a call and see if he'll match Buddies deal and ship it to you? This way you know it will be right. Seriously... if it's within a few bucks price wise, why would you not do business with the shop that you claim give...

Re: My first official tornament.
The thing that helped me the most: Sit back and watch. Observe some bowlers that you consider "good" that have a similar style to your own. Look at how they react and/or adjust after making a bad shot. Pay attention to ball motion. Pay attention to breakpoints. The next thing that I feel i...

Re: oval vs round thumb slug and huge gap it creates
I switched to interchangeable thumb because I had major problems getting a good thumb fit due to an injury. I did this because it made it easier for me to experiment and have a true A - B comparison testing different slugs. In my case, It took me about a year and a half to finally hit on the best fe...

Re: Acceptable # of balls for THS
sportcoupe: ever had to use those just in case balls? Yep... sure have. Summer league, bowling on a pair on the high end of the house. Lane breaks down 1st frame 2nd game. Breakdown pair: Lanes 9-10... the other side of the house. I needed more surface. Ran out to the car, and grabbed my "just...

Re: Acceptable # of balls for THS
I've become comfortable with 3... with the 3rd being a spare ball.
I am notorious for keeping 2 "just in case" balls in the car, however... ya know.... just in case!

A material that is dimensionally stable, perfectly flat (+/- over what range)... How about a gigantic granite slab, like a 41" x 63' long surface plate? :D Steve Ya know... synthetic lane panels placed on a granite slab doesn't sound like a bad idea.... [youtube]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

So if you want to bring your balls with you, make sure you have something very strong that you know works and at a low gritt. Even though people say the backends are flying, I would say take that advice with a grain of salt unless you hook the ball alot. It is always good to have something in case ...

Re: 1st time at the USBC Open Championship
I've talked with people who have actually won the nationals. These guys can play. The system is simple. Everyone, as in EVERYONE, must understand how the pattern plays and where the highest score potential is going come from. That area is to the right, not left. In order to play to the right, the p...

Re: 1st time at the USBC Open Championship
In singles when you had to move left, you were throwing the ball to the right and back in and not straight up the boards correct? if so do you have any idea when the lanes start opening up so you can get the ball out just a little bit? for example if you were playing up 10, when could you throw ove...

Re: 1st time at the USBC Open Championship
I shipped 4 balls via Bowling Ball Express: Two 2-ball totes in a 4 ball box. $71 each way via UPS ground. Shipping took 4 days each way. I think it was riskier to check my shoe bag in my airline luggage than to ship balls via UPS. The equipment locker set up worked out well for me. There were plent...

Re: 1st time at the USBC Open Championship
Would like to hear your views on how the lanes played in Team and in D/S, and what line on the lane you had any success playing, especially at the start. Your stats would be helpful as a comparison. I'm heading to Vegas near the end of May, so any insight is appreciated. Thanks. I'm a tweener with ...

Re: 1st time at the USBC Open Championship
Advice: Get to the squad room EARLY for the team event. I'm glad I did. The team squad I bowled on was full. The line for equipment check was wrapped around the hall. Be ready to bowl before leaving the squad room. By the time all of the bowlers walk out to the pairs and finds a spot to drop his/her...
