Throw the ball cleaner off your hand.

Higher VAL vs. early hook?

I'm bowling in a house this year where the transition just sucks. Heads/mids go and the ball just stands up too quick. Can't tell you how many times I've seen/bowled 250-260 then struggle to shoot 210 the next game. Carry just dies in an instant. It's a heavier volume house pattern (25-26 mL, 41'), ...

Re: Two hander fighting extremely high track

He needs to try and stay behind the ball longer and get it off his hand much earlier. Do you know what his tilt is? Recently, no. He lives about 45 minutes from me and is in the middle of HS season. I've been doing video analysis through his dad. I'm trying to think of a way to communicate stay beh...

Re: Two hander fighting extremely high track

He's already made pitch adjustments.

I'm looking for physical tweaks to make for his release.

Two hander fighting extremely high track

One of the HS kids I've been working with decided last year he wanted to give 2 handed bowling a full time shot. I fully encouraged it and he's making a lot of progress. That being said, he's been fighting his ball roll and regularly tracks over the middle finger. https://i.ibb.co/pyTFWLG/balltrack....

Re: I've got some ball roll questions

Funny thing is, I'm confident in my bowling knowledge and have a solid coaching skill set....but trying to fix yourself is a completely different beast. One positive is that I'm able to use myself as an big dartboard for ideas and it gives me ideas on how to explain concepts to my students in differ...

Re: I've got some ball roll questions

I prefer the armadillo method of measuring tilt, to me your 10* is a good number to work with and your track has a large healthy circumference, definitely not a spinner... now... your track seems to be closer to your thumb hole than your finger holes and that means you’re releasing your thumb a bit...

Re: I've got some ball roll questions

Your overlay has observer bias. You need the camera down on the lane, not elevated. If you want to raise your tilt and straighten your track up stop grabbing over the top of the ball at release and roll it off your fingers. That's a constant battle. Bowl on old Anvillane (rough surface) with a lot ...

I've got some ball roll questions

As a child of the 80's, there are times I get stuck on things I shouldn't...to the point I get preoccupied and tinker with things that aren't really broken. Case in point, my ball roll bothers me. Not from a perspective of reaction, but how the oil line looks on my ball and my perception of what tha...

We know I've got issues, but I'm still curious as to what surface ranges you have in the bag. :P

Re: Let's talk surface

........"I think it's time to break out the 1000... or more"... Good a place to start as any. Unfortunately I've been there done that. Nothing was ever consistent. As I've stated to you before, the fresh is a "killer" for me (and I suspect pretty much for you too). Let the lanes...

Let's talk surface

Curious as to what surfaces has in their bag (how much, ranges, etc.) Right now, I'm pretty sure I don't have enough surface for the current THS I'm bowling on. I'll start... Re: Medium length/heavy volume sport patterns kill me. Help

A question from a stone age bowler ... Thinking about my father and uncle bringing home their first bowling balls from a church bowling center which we being closed. The center allowed guys to bring the ball of their choice home. Some time after that, a two bus trek to a sporting good store to have...

Pretty good interview here. RC does a good job of saying "Motiv makes good stuff, but just doesn't match up with me"

Re: Adding a pinky hole, but need some guidance

Hello Mongo! Hope you’re finding success in flat sport patterns practice. Thanks, Tony. I'm making some swing/release modifications. Look for a thread in the Coaching section. :) My wife recently got fitted by Mo and he considered her arthritis pain in the fitting, he shortened her RF span and it’s...

Brunswick Twist not a bad option either if you're 2 handed.

He is concerned about the extra drag with a conventional. Said he's barely at 300 RPM now and is worried about how much he would lose with that.

Adding a pinky hole, but need some guidance

OK, first of all, not me, but a good friend.

Bowling friend of mine has some arthritis in their wrist and is considering playing with a pinky hole to relieve stress. The only problem is, I have no clue as to what kind pitches to suggest.

Help please.

Mongo, The short answer is that from the elements you enter in VLS for RG Value (C15), PSA Diff (C17), RG Diff (C16), Pattern Length (C11), Volume of Oil (C12), Reaction Length (E11), Reaction Strength (E6), Transition Length (E8), Rev Rate (C5), Hi/Lo RG Layout (E7), Axis Tilt (C6), Axis Rotation ...
