Re: Layouts / Arsenal ? Eric ?

Thank you, Eric! I have seen you mention that benchmark is sometimes strong for THS. Of the different layouts listed, which are most useful on THS? I seem to have mostly control to benchmark layouts right now, but I am thinking long and strong (like the Conspiracy layout you recommended) is my other...

Re: Layouts / Arsenal ? Eric ?

I think I have it figured out by comparing to others with close to my stats.

Layouts / Arsenal ? Eric ?

My release stats are in my signature...updated slightly I am adding Radical balls in a slow conversion from Motiv. I hope to add a Conspiracy soon. Here is what I have right now: Motiv Sigma Sting XX x 4.25 x 40 pin above RF Motiv Revolt Vengeance XX x 4.25 x 50 pin in RF Radical Intel XX x 3.5 x 60...

Re: Layout of the Future

For asymm balls the WIKI says that longer pin to pap distances are used to help burn tilt and rotation. So maybe this is why the low flare layout is not ideal for higher tilt and rotation bowlers?? My questions still are: For playing a strong cored asymm ball more straight down the lane, what contro...

Re: Layout of the Future

In another low flare thread, Eric suggested that this layout (layout E, total control asym), may not be ideal for someone with higher tilt and rotation.

How would you modify the angles or pin to pap in order to play straighter with a stronger asymm ball for a higher rotation and tilt bowler? Thanks!

Re: Low flare layouts - short pin vs. long pin

Is there a low flare layout guide based on your release stats? Keep the sum of angles close to your benchmark sum? If I have a bit higher tilt and rotation, should the pin to pap be adjusted from 2 1/4 inches? Eric? Thanks!

Re: Layout of the Future

I am anxiously waiting to see the new recommended layouts from Radical.

When the system calls for keeping the angles and ratio lower, how do symmetric balls get layed out?

Benchmark Asymmetric Ball

With the new rules eliminating balance holes, asymmetric cored balls will be the best way to get the layout that you need. However, current asymmetric balls are geared towards those who need a strong ball. For a number of bowlers, these balls are too strong for playing the typical house shot. An asy...

Thinking of avoiding symmetric for anything I buy this year. Need a more medium benchmark reaction from an asymmetric ball. Maybe a Ludicrous?

Re: No balance hole alternatives

Another thought...if the drill angle is measured to the thumb hole, having the pin closer to the PAP would decrease the drill angle somewhat. I wonder if going from a 4” pin to PAP down to a 3” would be worth a try to get the lower angle ratio and sum on a symmetric ball...even though it would flare...

I think he is talking about a ball rolling on the high rg axis vs the low rg axis.

Re: No balance hole alternatives

But for people who need lower ratios and smaller angle sums, symmetric balls are no longer an option ?

Re: First ball out on freshly oiled house shot

I guess I am leaning towards a bit stronger ball with a bit lower Val angle...pin in ring finer instead of below...unless there are any other ideas?

No balance hole alternatives

If you want a smaller drill angle, it usually meant needing a balance hole to get the static weight right. With no balance hole any more, how do you get the smaller drill angle effect? Thanks!

First ball out on freshly oiled house shot

My low game in both leagues this year was the first game. So I am looking to improve my first game ball reaction. On the left side with fresh oil, it plays sort of sport pattern like with not much miss room. The ball that works later in the 2nd game and 3rd is a bit too skid flip in the first game. ...

Re: Low flare symmetric THS layout for higher tilt and rotat

Ok, thanks. I will likely stick with my normal benchmark layout range (pin usually in or very close to ring finger) and let the cover and surface determine where it fits...unless you think a xx x 5 x 40 type layout might be what is needed ....

Re: Low flare symmetric THS layout for higher tilt and rotat

So really, the original question was about getting low flare on a symmetric ball - short pin-pap to burn tilt and rotation faster for my stats? My first ball out is a Motiv Forza GT, kept around 2000. About a XX x 4 x 60 with a balance hole 2" down Val line. This gives me a nice controlled medi...

Re: Low flare symmetric THS layout for higher tilt and rotat

I am looking a the Radical Beyond Ridiculous. Is low flare a good layout for playing up and in on the same line as your first ball (up the boards) after it stops hitting?

Low flare symmetric THS layout for higher tilt and rotation

Since on a symmetric you can get lower flare with either longer or shorter pin to pap distances...

For medium high tilt and rotation, do I want a pin to pap around 3" or less? Thanks!
