Re: Several possible fit problems
The reason for the thumb grabbing is too much reverse in the thumb already. If your thumb is already inflexible, the more reverse you have, the worse it's going to be for you, because you don't want to angle the thumb back more in the direction that your thumb already has trouble bending. Your span ...

Re: Bystander "Correcting" me in front of a customer
THIS. I don't know how many people I've heard that from. I had an older guy in the shop the other day trying to help me fit his granddaughter, saying things like, "No, you've gotta really stretch it out so you feel your hand tight on the ball. I've been playing with a fitting ball since the 60s...

Re: How Far Are Pins Allowed To Be Off Of Their Spot Center
Most centers don't have larger spots than the base of the pin. From what I've seen, if the pins are in the correct place, you shouldn't be able to see the spots, that makes it easier to identify which pins are off spot and which aren't. I'm our city's lane certification director, and we've always ac...

Re: Bystander "Correcting" me in front of a customer
Yeah, I get it all the time too . . and the challenge isn't in giving out correct information, it's about correcting someone professionally or without causing a scene or shoving it back in their face or something. Yes it's offensive, yes it's irritating, and yes it causes almost a catch 22 type of s...

Re: Greater Ozarks Open in Springfield, MO
Thanks DarkHorse. Not exactly house shots, but they aren't super difficult sport patterns. I've always found Enterprise very scorable, or at least the potential is there. Sunrise is a different story just because of the hybrid/split lane surface. I wouldn't expect to get a prize check back because o...

Re: Reverse finger pitch?
Great response, I can respect that. Let me know how the Bill Hall fit (Tri-Grip) works out, I'm curious. I actually had my stance on thumb pitch challenged over the last several months and have found some small adjustments I need to make there, so I definitely understand what you're saying. Well her...

I think balls that Phase a bit look pretty cool . . my Sigma Tour is doing it a bit and I really like it. Lol not that the way the ball looks has anything to do with anything, but it looks cool . .

Re: Reverse finger pitch?
THANK YOU. It increases comfort and leverage because you don't have to wrap your fingers under so far to contact the front sides of the holes . . I keep saying this in other threads but everybody keeps saying, "well but the wiki says . ." The way the hand is built, reverse in the fingers w...

Re: frustrated thumb hanger
Might be a little overboard on the forward, but I know what you mean. Once you trend that direction and get used to not having to grip, it doesn't feel like more forward is ever enough. You CAN end up putting your whole hand out of position by going that far forward though. You still have to hold on...

Re: frustrated thumb hanger
Check your thumb pitch. If you have excessive reverse pitch, you'll have to really hang onto it to keep from dropping it, and that can cause release problems. Adding reverse will allow you to grip and still get out of the ball better, but I've never heard anyone in the bowling industry say that grip...

Re: Abralon pads
Actually it's very fine coverstock residue that foams up, so yes, it's completely normal especially with pads 2000 and under. The 3000 and 4000 don't really take enough coverstock off to make it "foam up" like that, but it's normal. The balls should hook quite a bit more and earlier, but b...

Figjam, and a few well deserved plugs
After 2 games last night, I had 500 even, and somehow managed to shoot 800. I left a greek church the last ball of the second game, which was actually a good thing because it told me I needed to move, but it made it interesting getting up in the 10th frame of the last game knowing that I needed ever...

Re: Greater Ozarks Open in Springfield, MO
Pretty slick is relative to using the bumper on a house shot. I've never found the S&D house to be very wet, but it's not a THS, and if you try to swing 18-5, yeah it might seem a tad wet. The team house with synthetic/wood gets rough, especially at the seam between the two different surfaces. I...

Re: How much forward pitch?
Same fit on your spare ball definitely. Reverse pitch in the thumb doesnt help you release it easier, it makes you grip harder throughout your whole swing to hang onto the ball. Both of your thumbs should be and should stay the same size, and if they arent, youre gripping. I use reverse in the thumb...

Re: How much forward pitch?
I can live with that. It absolutely horrifies me haha, but to each their own. I also usually tend to err on the short side because it still allows your fingers to stay in the proper positions if you dont try to dig in or force your hand to stretch yourself. I just cant imagine forward pitch in finge...

Re: Reverse finger pitch?
Actually i havent, but when you have experience fitting, especially using a fitting ball you can play around and adjust until it feels right. But i feel confident saying you have to go to at least 1/4 reverse, it will greatly relax your hand and should relieve or ease the pain I am currently 0 rev i...

Re: How much forward pitch?
For the sake of argument though, I didn't just write a reply and go about my business. I literally just finished adjusting my fit how you suggested. I reduced my span 1/16 and took the pitch in the fingers to 0 forward/reverse. Still felt long, so I reduced it another 1/16. Again, like I allowed in ...

Re: How much forward pitch?
Somewhat. 1/4 reverse in the thumb isn't commonly considered excessive for a span of nearly 4 1/2, though I think it is, AND if you look at the wiki, if you reduce reverse in the thumb, it says to increase forward in the fingers. I've got 0 in my thumb, and I'm definitely not going to 1/4 FORWARD in...

I suppose in this particular case that could be correct, but other companies design core shapes specifically to minimize the amount of core material removed. From Seismic: A Key feature of our new TENACI core is a shape which has been modelled to allow for drilling with strong Pin and PSA locations ...
