Re: Bowling Ball Resurfacing
yes i employ all of those sanding methods for myself and customers . i was trying to find out if there was any rule for a method of sanding that would make a ball illegal or flagged in the Open. as far as i can see, there seems to be no rule other than uniform sanding across the entire surface of th...

Re: Bowling Ball Resurfacing
I have found sanding (spinning ) on my PaP causes the ball to go longer . sanding against the track makes the ball earlier. I use 360grit on a couple of balls and it works well for me. Sanding parallel to the track is to me a step below a polished ball. Again this is just from my game but the reacti...

Re: Bowling Ball Resurfacing
as usual you have to understand what their terminology is to really understand what they're saying in this rule. But the last part actually is clear about the entire surface of the ball must be sanded or Polished in the same manner. So if you use 180 Grit just as an example, All in the same directio...

Re: Bowling Ball Resurfacing
What about if you surface a bowling ball and it has say 180 grit grain or grooves in one direction - will the Nationals tournament reject it or are there no rules on ball surface as long as it's uniform around the ball?

Re: Our RPM is wrong ?
well, exact measurement would be to use a laser and reflective tape and a high frame-rate camera. you can then count the flashes . how it matters? not. i know a guy who throws 10mph on the downlane monitor ., when he releases it the ball is just skidding and "lobbing" but when it hits fric...

Re: Found treasure?
probably not. i have an old original LT-48 that when i throw it, no matter what i do, it's a full roller. no other ball i have rolls like that. it leads me to wonder if i can duplicate this with another ball.

Re: Need a Ball & Layout Recommendation(s)
thanks! i'll work on that. The approaches very sticky that day. I like to slide so, planting is a B game for me. I've been bowling awesome lately despite some flaws you point out. I've been top two or 3 in almost every event. hell, even won an event on 52' badger using speed. Shot a couple 300s in t...

Re: Need a Ball & Layout Recommendation(s)
I did a Ball demo for DV8, Brunswick, & Radical August 2018. Here are reviews that were most interesting to me. I reviewed all the balls in the demo but, you'd have to subscribe to my YouTube channel to see them all. here are the Bias, Creed Rebellion and Beyond Ridiculous Pearl. Note: I used Qu...

Re: Danger/Problems at the lanes people out of control
I was going up on several occasions and kicked others who run up on my back side trying to bowl on their lane. a lot of this is the desk person using common sense and I tell them about it every time they could put more serious bowlers with kids or parties near each other. one time I was in mid swing...

Re: Thumb Swelling Tricks?
I have interchangeable for my strike balls but, not my spare ball which has the tightest thumb of all my balls and interchangeables. I make sure I can fit my thumb in that ball first, then decide on the interchangeable to use. my thumb shrinks to fit the thumb hole. rarely I find it too big for my s...

Re: Need a Ball & Layout Recommendation(s)
what's your speed/specs. my speed is reading 17+ to 18+ downlane. spare avg over 19 but that's straight and with plastic. I just saw that Kingpin Max and the Quantum Bias. I'm liking the looks of both those balls for what I'm doing. here's what I'm thinking : Kingpin Max: 65 x 3-3/8 x 30 - 3000grit ...

Re: Need a Ball & Layout Recommendation(s)
I have a SurLock and it's what I used to win the tournament with. it's drilled 45 x 4-1/2 x 35. I can tell you it does not hook much. in the matchmaker I thought the ball I threw (sure lock also) was the strongest ball in the bunch, but, apparently, I didn't copy that ball's layout close enough. bec...

Re: 2018 US Women's Open Final Observations
try bowling there sometime. I bet the lane topography is affected by the million or so games thrown in that place annually. it's an 80 lane center in a populated Orlando. I live over an hour from there so mostly I bowl in Randy W's tournaments there on sport shots with little or no back-end. Even wi...

Re: 2018 US Women's Open Final Observations
In my opionion the difference in lane topography caused most of the matching up issues. you got that right. I bowled tournaments in there and if you play 12-25, the heads are so worn out your ball will jump a couple boards almost immediately if you're not careful. spares are particularly tricky.

Re: Estimating Coverstocks
what you get out of the box and what you end up with after a week of bowling are two different things. most balls end up medium no matter how "strong" they are made. weaker or medium balls are pretty close to what they say, because you can't really overgrow a medium or weak cover ball. err...

Need a Ball & Layout Recommendation(s)
until last night I HATED my Idol. for some reason I didn't understand how to throw that ball. but, I got it locked in finally and after two bad games. threw 11 identical-carry strikes in a row with it. I was determined to figure out what works for this ball, I found something. the ball likes to spin...

Re: 2018 US Women's Open Final Observations
I was there and saw flashes of brilliance from a lot of the players. Gongorra was completely locked in during the match play on Thursday. I expected she had a backswing that's a little too quick and timing is really sensitive with that technique, but, she was definitely hurling great shots that day....
