Re: Sym vs Asym
Interesting yet I still don’t feel like the question is really answered. The subject of the video is spot-on but if it is addressed I’m missing it. The bit about skid phase being longer on an asym is interesting. I’m not so sure about that but he’d know better than I would. https://youtu.be/tk-B3QVB...

Re: Sym vs Asym
To me, there is a blurred line at that point. Now this is a derail I like :D I have such mixed emotions on this one. On one hand I bought my “Heckin Urethane” t-shirt for a reason. When my teammate gives up on plan A, B and C and takes up the Thane, I know my breakpoint is going to slowly deteriora...

Re: Sym vs Asym
It would be puzzling from a pro shop perspective if a customer asked for an asymmetric to be neutralized, that's really not the intended philosophy behind asymmetrics. It’s trendy these days. I’ve never tried it, the one urethane I have fitted right now just collects dust. https://youtu.be/nVKP_0oQ...

Re: Sym vs Asym
I am trying to eliminate the variables. Go back to the original post. Proton Physix and Axiom, same named cover, same RG, similar Diff. Spin them up to the same surface and they are outwardly pretty similar. I didn’t pick them by accident. I talked about the Proton Physix/Hyroad because yes, these h...

Re: Sym vs Asym
Lower RG spin up quicker to read the lane earlier, those tend to roll out as you move in. So you’d move to a medium or high RG to get it down lane more This is why I say you have to take the other ball characteristics out of the equation (even if some hate the idea  ) A sanded Proton Physix or...

Re: Sym vs Asym
Oh, I have Ayms :D Some of them tuned by some prominent names from around here, or with layouts inspired by those... You’re right, it’s a difficult topic and probably not well understood in general- I certainly count myself among those who don’t master the subject. I made this thread because I sense...

Sym vs Asym
I’ve been seeing some information out there on the subject of sym vs asym and why you would choose one or the other. A lot of it “strikes” me as misinformation but being a once-a-week league bowler I wouldn’t say I’m qualified as an expert. For years I’ve felt that the difference between sym and asy...

Re: Absorption Rate Fact vs Friction
There is “clean” and there is *clean*. One thing I dislike about urethane is the way the ball would get “slimy” all over after less than a game. No amount of wiping with a dry towel made this go away. This is a ball with a near-zero absorption rate. My response was to clean every few shots to a game...

Re: Surface Speculation
From the responses here I’m thinking I didn’t explain this well. Let me try to break it down. Tried ball polished OOB. Too long for what I want the ball to do. Tried 1000/4000. Better but still too long. Hit it with 3000 without thinking much about what I was doing. Now, I didn’t get to use it in th...

Surface Speculation
Not really sure if there is a question here, more just “food for thought” but I do invite comment. Purchased a new bowling ball that is polished OOB. As per usual I found this too shiny for me. I decided to try 1000/4000. 1000 for about 15 seconds on 4 sides and 4000 for about ten seconds on 4 sides...

Re: Do Radical balls have tendency to "die"
Use cleaners designed for bowling balls. They have oil emulsifiers. Best one I've come across is Hook IT. Another vote for Hook It. The stuff is so good... I know it seems pricey but even if you spend $40 or so for a quart this will last most bowlers at least two or three seasons. It just so easily...

Re: For Nord: Full roller vs Modern Release Experiment
Sorry but IMO this whole idea "average doesn't matter" is the cry of someone who just isn't very good. I can relate to that, because, neither am I. It's a hobby, I'm not trying to make my living at this. Bowling average is THE MAIN METRIC for bowling performance. That's it! There are no po...

Recommended ball specs after rule changes?
If this has been covered elsewhere, please let me know and I’ll delete this thread. For years now I’ve been trying to select bowling balls with 2.7 oz top or less and 3-4” pins, cg and mb reasonably in line on asym to allow my driller flexibility in layouts. Does anything change regarding this with ...

Quasi-asyms why???
The new Ebonite Matrix Solid got me thinking about this again...I think I've posted about it before to no response but hey ya never know. Matrix Reload core has MB .007. I'm wondering what is the purpose of a quasi-asym like this? Would there be any difference in spin time after drilling in a symmet...

Re: Bowling on Urethane carry down.
So, you’re going to clean your *opponent’s* urethane ball in between shots with your shammy?
Maybe they are that much more absorbent than a clean micro-fiber, I don’t know... but it won’t help you when following urethane on a pair.

Re: Bowling on Urethane carry down.
Oh, that all-over greasy feeling after a few shots with urethane. Soon we won’t even be able to use “legal during competition” cleaners since there will be no such animal.

Re: Bowling on Urethane carry down.
For me it’s always subtle. Start to ring or flat ten more. Maybe a bucket-style leave on a shot I didn’t catch as well that might have been a mixing strike or 9. “Just wouldn’t hook”, I don’t know that I’ve seen that. Honestly in my case, if I had just rolled it more (not my strong suit with my tilt...
