Re: Hammer Statement Hybrid (overseas) X-Out

The Pin to MB distance is 1-3/4" short from standard. Am hoping that is might just be the MB is marked incorrectly.

Hammer Statement Hybrid (overseas) X-Out

I got a pretty good deal on the above ball. I have a question for those in the know about the X-Out part of this (has to do with measurements). The ball is a 14.14 with 3 ounces of TW (listed on box). Pin to CG is 2.5", and Pin to MB is 5" (per the markings & all are in a straight line...

Re: 3G Tour Ultras won't slide

I bought this heel on my original pair of the Dynarooz and still use it on my current pair of the 3G Tour Ultras, it comes with a #6, #8, and a #10 felt strip. https://www.bowlingball.com/products/accessories/3g-bowling/9947/adjust-a-heel.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;...

San Diego area - Kearny Mesa Bowl Pro Shop. Ask for Teddy Turner. He does a very good job.

Re: Bowling Movie

WTF did i just watch? The most horrific thing is I have to actually bowl at that bowling alley tonight. Completely made up town BTW. Fountain is probably the busiest center in Orange County, CA (driest one too). Lost some respect for the place after watching that crap.

Layout help for Nationals

Been looking through the wiki and reading Mo's info on how to play the lanes this year. I know I fall into the "high" tilt category and I think I also fall into the "higher revs, lower rotation" category (if I'm wrong please let me know). I have a few pin down balls (I'm a Motiv ...

Re: Motiv People I Need Help!

For sport shots I would make sure you have the following in your Motiv arsenal:

Cruel Intent
Covert Revolt
Sigma Sting
Venom (something in this series...which you have covered)

Thank you Eric...much appreciated

I'm assuming I'd want a fairly dull surface on this? I took Mo's advice awhile ago and took the polish off most of my equipment...I've been getting much better reaction and carry since I did.

Re: Sweaty hands

I just use a homemade "grip bag" that has cat litter in it...and I replace the litter every year...works well at keeping my hand very dry

Re: 5-1/4" pin to pap cause ball to not flare or hook?

I mostly bowl on a medium THS, but do bowl some sport shots and have been doing Nationals for 22 years. Most of my symmetrical THS layouts are very close to what you suggest as a benchmark. This last ball (the TV4) was the first one where the layout just didn't work for me at all. I actually don't o...

Re: 5-1/4" pin to pap cause ball to not flare or hook?

Speed (off hand): 18mph
Revrate: 350
PAP: 3.5 over, 1/4 up
Axis Rotation: 40
Axis Tilt: 24

Guess I should put all that in my signature

Was told at one time that I shouldn't have a lot of asymmetricals in my arsenal because of the high tilt...any truth to that?

Re: 5-1/4" pin to pap cause ball to not flare or hook?

Thanks Labrat for that explanation...it explains a lot. Looks like I'll either use it as a complete burn ball or sell it.

With a PAP of 3-1/2 over & 1/4 up, and 26° of tilt what would 3-3/8 still be the ideal pin to PAP distance for maximum flare?

Re: 5-1/4" pin to pap cause ball to not flare or hook?

I've had a few balls drilled with that long of a Pin to PAP before and still had plenty of flare

5-1/4" pin to pap cause ball to not flare or hook?

Recently purchased a Motiv TV4 (2.54 RG, .052 diff - medium heavy oil ball) that had a 3" pin & 3oz of top weight. I drilled this ball with the CG dead center of palm and put the pin just outside of my middle finger (which made it 5-1/4" from my PAP). My PAP is 3-1/2" over and 1/4...

Re: MOtion Hole on a pin under ball?

Would the 10" still apply for my initial "tape" location? Or would it be 11" since the pin is under? (not sure if the hole is supposed to be more or less opposite of the center of your grip)

MOtion Hole on a pin under ball?

Drilled up a Motiv QZ2 that had initial specs of a 2.8" pin & 2.9oz. of top weight. After laying it out it ended up with the pin just under the ring finger and the CG on centerline about 1/2" below the midline. Can this still be a candidate for the MOtion Hole (I use the IT thumb)? Tha...

Re: Short PAP and MOtion Hole

Pin above ring finger gets me at almost 4". I'm a lefty. Can you elaborate on what you mean by getting the hole to the right of the initial flare line. Won't be drilling the ball until next Thursday.

Thanks

Re: Short PAP and MOtion Hole

I was just trying to verify. To me when I see something that says for PAPs under 5" I think that 3-1/2" is a great deal less than that and I would hate to ruin a new ball by not asking some simple questions.

Thanks for the info that you've had no issues with this...much appreciated.
