Re: Difference 2000 grit + polish vs 4000 grit + polish

You've got to remember that storms 1500 grit is not halfway between 1000 & 2000 grit there are different industry standards. If I'm right storms 1500 is the equivalent of abralon 4000. And then polish! Hope this helps

Re: Question on lateral pitch on fingers

Just to give you a little more information

Bill Taylor had a starting point for finger pitches of 0 and 5/8.

Ron Hoppe will start your finger pitches with 1/2 to 3/4 REVERSE.

Immerse yourself in the advices given on this forum and best of luck.

Re: Question on lateral pitch on fingers

The simple answer is to find someone who can measure your hand well

Most likely answer is more reverse in both fingers. This may affect the laterals as well.

Re: Finger tip help

It's most likely the finger pitches are not helping. Snug inserts with too much forward pitch will cause the tips to swell quickly especially if you don't have a soft release.

Latest Radical layouts

The latest Radical layouts appear to be for high track bowlers. Looking at these layouts, unlike the previous sheets, there are no layouts specific to medium and lower tracks. If core shapes are to alter for August 2020, will we see layouts for the high medium and low tracks to follow? Is there a ru...

Mass Bias and dual angles???

Looking at some of the drilling layouts for PSA positions MB -pin - pap angles of 90, 105 and 135.
How does this fit in with the "no larger than 90" for the drilling angle concept of dual angle?

Re: Lane Play Advice Needed

You can establish an average for each hand, you just can't use it in the same game. Effectively each hand is a different bowler for the scoresheets.

Re: Surprising result from different pin position

Been back to the lanes to study the oil rings..they are reversed and I get about 3" of flare. Bow tie round the back of the ball and it provides quite a bit of control when it comes off the oil on a fresh condition. I've not seen this before as have always used "pin safe " positions. As an experimen...

Re: Surprising result from different pin position

To answer some of the questions I increased my span and increased the reverse in both fingers, this feels more comfortable and my hand lies flatter on the ball. I've been experimenting with a number of factors. the main one going back to 15 from 14 that I've used for about 6 years. This has also led...

Re: Surprising result from different pin position

Hi Eric,
this should help, the initial finger holes are near the bottom of the ball. I plugged the original balance hole which happened to be in one of the new finger holes!

Surprising result from different pin position

Would anyone have an explanation for this result. I have an absolute curve, Hammer, which was drilled with the Rico layout. As an experiment in a new grip the finger holes were plugged and the thumb hole became the balance hole. The new grip had the pin an inch right from the thumb hole and the cg w...

Re: Going Back to 16 lb Equipment?

from simple maths if your ball is on or around the 5th board in the region of 12 feet from the pins and makes its move to the pocket it will be around the 6* entry angle and that is if it has made its turn and is rolling straight from that point! In general terms if your ball is on the 5th board 3/4...

Re: ball tilt

If the PAP is marked correctly the tape will be a dot immediately off the hand. You can't see this yourself, someone else has to watch as you throw the ball. -- JohnP You have marked the position that the pap has when it is nearing the pins, as the axis point changes as the ball moves down the lane...

Re: Looking for help deciding on a new ball

JoeBowling. Without seeing you or knowing you. my first recommendation for the time being is to forget the big hockey stick shaped hook ball. First learn how to get to the pocket consistently with a straighter ball. Build your pyramid from the bottom up with a solid base. One of the greatest bowler...

Re: Looking for help deciding on a new ball

This might not be appreciated but here goes. You build your game on spares, so learn to throw it straight. 8/ 9/ games gives you a 185 average!! You find comments and coaching about throwing it with the pap facing the gutter. Get a plastic ball and pick up your spares. Get to the point where you onl...

Re: how would you play this shot

Your tour fusion with box finish in the " track area"with your stats around and outside 3rd arrow out to your breakpoint.
You are looking for a smooth response to keep it around the pocket, until the area opens up. Try to see what the ball paths of the bowlers on the next pair as well.
Good luck

Re: Getting The Ball Down!!!

hi, loft is not your enemy, it is speed on the longer patterns!! if you put your ball down earlier on the longer patterns it will pick up more oil in the heads....and slide further unless they have burned up and its later in the day/squad. However in that case just play the "ball track" area. Look a...

Re: Too short of span...

Personally, I've found that reverse pitch with CLT laterals on the fingers, and forward pitch on the thumb results in a more efficient grip. I agree completely. Sounds like your ball driller is out of the Dick Ritger school! been there...1/2 F on both fingers to get lift. Relaxed grip and reverse a...
