A little over/under reaction with the 1500 I take it?skfboiler wrote: Today I tried 2000 grit on the house pattern during open bowling and ball motion was very smooth compared to the out of the box 1500 polished I used to bowl with.

Performance fit. If Mo is in your area take the time to get this done, he switched me to an oval to get out of the ball cleaner. Best money i ever spent.

Re: Surface adjustment for smoother motion?
Thanks for all the suggestions. Today, I tried 3000 grit, no polish before my open bowling games and that seemed to smooth the ball motion quite a bit. I may try 2000 to experiment what that will do to the ball motion. i don't use polish, depending on your release and the motion you're looking for ...

Re: Hook phase, Roll phase, Carry, Hitting power.
Not many league bowlers understand this on today's conditions. Unless you live in a metro area that caters to the blocked house shot. Many of us in fly over America are finding the same shot as the metro areas. Why? Because they can't afford to lose business. Tougher shots mean that your not as good...

Shouldn't the mantra be " Team first?" I'm happy if someone bowls better than me, we pick each other up depending on how other teammates are bowling that that night.

I try and stay with 2000 grit no matter what I'm using. That's my sweet spot, you need to find your own sweet spot that fits your game.

Re: Announcing a new tournament concept
Maybe the USBC needs to mandate a 40ft flat oil pattern for all leagues but give the bowlers enough information on how to attack the pattern. If you avg. 220+ on this pattern you've earned it unlike the avg on a blocked house shot that really doesn't tell you your real capabilities as a shot maker. ...

Re: 1 particular center that always tears up your balls.
My old home house. Little 4 laner with original lanes installed in 1976. About oh I'd say 20 years ago I was bowling league back there for a season and alot of they guys were complaining of their balls being beat up, well the original nails were surfacing making it hard on the reactive equipment. Th...

Re: Increasing average how long to go from 200 to 210 to 220
I finally averaged just over 200 last year for the first time in my 34 years of league. Was it the lane conditions? Yeah, mostly when most leagues are blocked if you have any ability whatsoever to be consistent a blocked house shot you will avg. 200 or better. My highest league avg. up till this las...

I'd rather hit the pocket with slower speed, less deflection and less corner pins.

Re: Plastic with a Core
Deaden you wrist like Norm does with his first ball. I bowled with a guy in the late 80's to early 90's who used a backup ball to pickup spares on ether side of the lane. Urethane. Hammer Blue or Black, didn't matter.

Had one, traded it in on a new ball. Shot my highest series ever with it. Kicking myself for ever getting rid of it.

Next time Mo is in your area you need to have him performance fit you. Well worth the time and trouble unless you strive for being mediocre.
