Re: Opinion: Keep ball reps out of active competition
High technology equipment has been introduced into many sports. So called 'super suits' were used in swimming and countless world records were broken in a short period of time. In 2009 these swimming suits were banned from FINA competitions because FINA were concerned that such equipment was ruining...

Re: Opinion: Keep ball reps out of active competition
As a Pro Shop Operator I have attended several seminars given by ball companies. They are very open about bringing a large truck full of bowling balls and drilling equipment to tournaments to provide their bowlers with the ball most suitable for the conditions. I think this slould be stopped as this...

Re: What do you pay with for bowling? Everything?
I live in the US so it will be a bit different. Also Many machines that Have Chip and pin also take smartphone contactless payment. Things are a bit different in the US, for example chip and pin was in widespread use in Europe at the time it was being introduced to the US marketplace. The payment m...

Re: What do you pay with for bowling? Everything?
It is certainly your choice to take your business to the merchant you prefer. However you should be aware of the expenses merchants have to pay for doing business with you. When a merchant lodges cash in a bank there may be a cash handling charge. Machines that accept chip and pin cards are often re...

I cannot agree about 'heavy handed moderation'. Some topics get closed but I do not think many have been closed or for poor reasons.

Team of 3. There is a steady flow of bowling. Unlike team of 4 or 5, where the time between shots is too long. Singles is too fast and tiring.

Re: Exercises for bowling?
The sport of bowling does not require anyone to be a Superman or Wonderwoman to participate successfully. Good general fitness should be all that is required. I have worked with people who have physical limitations that cannot be corrected. Don't worry about changing your physique. I suggest you get...

Re: How old is your pinsetter and score system?
It does not matter how old the pin setters are as long as the pins are placed on the correct locations. The pins need to be replaced when they wear out, pin setters will last a very long time with proper maintenance. The scoring systems sometimes get replaced when the computer gets replaced simply b...

Re: Thumb exit 16lb vs 15 lb balls
As people age there is a tendensy to become less flexible. You should consider getting your hand analysed by a good ball fitter with a view to changing the pitches, particularly the thumb pitches.

Re: USBC Nationals for 2020 Cancelled - good or bad thing?
The rest of the world has cancelled or postponed sporting events due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I think the USBC decision is correct. Let's conquer this health crisis first then we can get back to normal.

Re: Is this ball drilled upside down or wrong?
Your game is changing. You said you did a lot of research before buying the ball. The job of a PSO is to keep up to date with the changing selection of equipment as well as the bowling centers in your area. You never mentioned if you are receiving coaching from a qualified coach, if you are not gett...

Re: Is this ball drilled upside down or wrong?
The several track lines is an indication of the flare potential of the ball. Flare potential is a function of the core design. A ball with flare potential will still flare even for a full roller. The driller watched you roll a few shots in order to determine several things about the way you roll the...

Re: Is this ball drilled upside down or wrong?
One of the standard layouts for a full roller is to put the pin in the track. For a full roller the track is between the finger holes and thumb hole, which places the track under the palm. You do not have a thumb hole drilled but the track is still located under the palm. The engraving on the ball d...

Re: Targeting
Eye/hand coordination can be improved over time. Hitting a target is easy for people who have good eye/hand coordination, the rest of us need to work at it. Practice exercises can be done at home. Playing darts is effective, put the dart board at the same distance as the bowling target you are havin...

Re: USBC Emergency rule changes
While it tries to ever come some problems it will not overcome all problems. For example on a team of 3 the 'social distancing' recomdations of 2 meters or 6 feet in the seating area will not be met even though only one lane is used, I assume the other lane in the pair of lanes remains unused. It sh...

Re: Hadicap in bowling?
I have seen some 'no tap' tournaments, where 9 pins down on the first ball counts as a strike. These are usually novelty tournaments as the result is not used to calculate an average or to determine ranking positions. I assume if the computer can be set to run a 9 pin no tap it can be set for 8 pin ...

Re: Finger forward reverse pitches
For fingertip grip you need to determine the flexibility of the last joint of the finger. You need to push the fingernail part of the finger towards the palm of the hand. If the fingertip forms an angle of 90 degrees then the pitch for drilling is zero. If the angle is only 45 degrees then the drill...
