Re: Phantom Radio Tribute to Don Johnson part 1 of 2

What a GREAT bowler Don Johnson was! He also was one of the GREAT instructors in the history of the game and his sterling videos, A PRO's GUIDE to BOWLING, Volume 1 and 2 were way ahead of its time. Bowling suffered a tremendous loss from his early death.

Re: Pro shop training

All three are very good with each having their strong points. Kegel is one: one with Randy S and you will get his long-time experience from the Tour, Ebonite and Kegel. Russ Wilson does an excellent job at Jayhawk and will be geared for beginners and closely follow the traditional IBPSIA perspective...

Re: Phantom Radio - Gary Parsons

Thanks for the promo John. I gave myself a C+ for the interview as I did not get into what Bill did for the Pro Shop. For example, he did the "grunt work" for the pro shop technician in the determination that the thumb should be at 63o angle in in the ball. I learned, during the Taylor-Pin...

Re: Finding path to Exit Point - When moving

First, my samples were to illustrate the mathematics. The "fall back" shot is not easy but can be done as it was not uncommon in the late 60s and early seventies. You Tube, I am sure has videos of PBA finals that the players used the "fall back shot". Possible, yes. Difficult, ye...

Re: Finding path to Exit Point - When moving

First let me thank Kajmk for his current posts and for his tremendous contributions to this site over the years. All the videos were valid but unfortunately Mike Shady's video contains a conceptual mistake in that he conceptually confuses "exit point" with "breakpoint". Exit poin...

Re: Maurice "Mo" Pinel 1942-2021

Bowling has just lost one of, it not its, GREATEST creative minds. This industry has just lost a GREAT ball designer; a GREAT lanesmen; a Great coach; and a GREAT teacher. Right now he is irreplaceable. He easily ranks with the iconic contributors to the game, e.g., Bill Bunnetta, Bill Taylor, Tom K...

Power, Control and Money. The box is closing. The group is getting smaller. Result is group thinking. Result of group thinking: a further decline in the institution.

Re: Why does no one like the USBC?

If one KNOWS one's product one (in this case the (USBC) one can make policies that enhance the product (bowling). The record shows this has not been the case with the USBC thus the decline of the product. Simple, if one does not KNOW one's product one can not manage nor promote the product one does ...

I have been reading

I wanted to know how much the membership in this group has been reading in the last year, especially recently. Here is a list of books I have read in the last year or so: BOWLING: Gianmac Manizone. PIN ACTION. A classic work describing the "golden age" of pre and early PBA era of pot games...

Re: KTC Webinar - Personalizing your bowling ball arsenal to win

What this difference of opinion shows is that the sport is far from having definitive, scientific solutions to many of the current issues. The best the PLAYER can do is study the sport from diverse perspectives and then be open to using an evolving, but rational. paradigm in order to make make authe...

A Debate for BOWL EXPO

Since BOWL EXPO, this year, does not seem to be getting the positive responses as previous BOWL EXPOS, due to the event being held in Denver on the 4th of July, I have a suggestion: A special event: A debate between Mo Pinel and James Freeman ( a la BOWLING BEYOND THE BASICS). Both have very good mi...

Re: USBC finds another way to bail out proprietors

we have been thru this before- in the 60's and the result was disastrous- one particular was the "left handed syndrome". Once again, I repeat, "if one does not know one's product, one can not manage nor promote the product one does not know".

Re: Podcast - interview with new owner of the PBA

Given Bowlero's record, in conjunction with AMF's record for the past 30 years, they have a lot to prove and prove over an extended period of time. If one does not know one's product one can not manage nor promote the product one does not know. First reaction: Bye Bye Miss American pie..... but mayb...

Re: Storm | Pin Buffer Layout System - Part 1 & 2 & 3

As much as we hate to say it, regardless of the layout system utilized, there are no guarantees the ball reaction will be as expected. Better yet- Let us assume we have two bowlers with identical specs (ball speed, rev rate, tilt, axis rotation, etc) and both are using the same ball with identical ...
