Re: Bowling Ball Resurfacing

I watched a Youtube video by Phil Cardinale about how often can you resurface your bowling ball. My takeaway is that you can resurface your bowling ball as much as you see fit. Assuming proper ball maintenance, the ball remains viable until its circumference is too small for the ball return. What P...

Re: Oval holes

I just found this post http://forum.bowlingchat.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=14847. This is exactly the information I was looking for. I am surprised nobody answered my question or pointed me to that post. Since I have an old press, I will mark the centerline and thumb angle, drill the pilot hole, t...

Re: Simple tool for evaluating the pitches from bowling ball

I see this is an old post but hopefully I’ll get a response. I was just trying to figure out a way to measure pitches without purchasing an actual pitch gauge and found this. My question is if “0” is placed over center of thumb hole and the dowel/rod is placed into the center of hole won’t it alway...

Re: Trying to find a ball

Just bowled for the first time in years and used another bowlers random ball. Had the best game I ever played. Can someone help me find this ball? It would've helped if you had told us the name of that ball you liked. The place to start would be asking the other bowler where he got it, Then go to t...

Re: Plugging resin

Regarding the product approval, good point Bowl1820. BTW, is the DEVCON Plastic welder clear? I seem to remember using that product for other purposes years ago. How long is the cure time for that? The only colors I knew of were White, Black and Tan (Creme), according to the package it set in 15 mi...

Re: Plugging resin

Something to note also is the product needs to be on the Approved Products list: Ball Plug to be legal. https://www.bowl.com/Equipment_Specs/Additional_Resources/Ball_Plug/ Be that as it may, IF your just wanting to do a simple patch like a gouge or where it's broke out around the finger/thumb holes...

Re: Bowling ball serial numbers

This is what I found out awhile back: The rules regarding the serial numbers and names/logos on a ball, which can go missing over time do to resurfacing etc. Any bowling ball used in USBC certified competition must be approved and identifiable as a ball listed on the “Approved Ball List” located on ...

Re: BTU?

Probably a dumb question--or an uniformed bowler. When bowlers refer to their "BTU" especially when trying to add surface or make adjustments on the lane,is that a particular urethane or brand of specific ball? I am mostly a Storm/Roto bowler--no urethane. One T-Zone for spares. I found o...

Re: dry sand vs wet sand on ball spinner

I have a ball spinner and usually use water when using sanding pads. I know that using water supposedly extends the use of a pad--less clogging etc--but I think I get a more aggressive or tru (no pun intended) cut when spinning dry. You might want to take a look at this thread: wet sanding vs regul...

Re: Rule 18 – There's a temporary exception for Alcohol!

This exception was due to Covid-19. New rule #14 eliminated the use of ALL cleaning products during competition and was established prior to Covid. Because of Covid, USBC allowed the use of alcohol due to it's sanitation aspect. This was one way to get bowling centers back open. Note: USBC Rule 18 ...

I think you are probably the minority, most people use the same hand. Personally i have never seen anyone use different hands or even 2 hands. Re: Bowling Ball Surfaces

In any case, everyone uses always the same hand, so everyone uses the same method and doesn't run the risk of getting different results. Ok unless someone is ambidextrous and changes hands between ball sides for some reason :P Not necessarily always, I'm right handed and not ambidextrous. I use my ...
