Re: Ball Setup...VERY different than you think

Every sport has its rules. I don't think enforcing the rules is crying. There is something called nonsanctioned leagues. You should look for one of these. USBC rules are not in effect (but that's not to say the league itself doesn't have a rule or two). Yes, seniors leagues are inhabited by older bo...

Re: Conversion from Turbo SG to JoPo

TH, Good info! I've had the entire system come out of the ball because the outersleeve (OS) was not glued in properly. One or twice, which led me to start reinstalling/replacing them myself. Ditto for slug in an innersleeve. Whether I receive a ball from the pro-shop with the OS or I install myself,...

Re: Conversion from Turbo SG to JoPo

Dean, "The diameter was the same but the JoPos are longer and need to be drilled deeper." That's the answer I was looking for. Thanks!

Re: Conversion from Turbo SG to JoPo

Tomahawk! Hello! My thought is the JoPo system is better. When I see the JoPo I see something that is screwed in rather than locked in with tabs. But you just mentioned tabs but I'm not seeing that. So maybe it's not better! I'm getting tired of having to replace the innersleeves (IS) because the ta...

Conversion from Turbo SG to JoPo

Hello, Upfront, I'm not a pro shop operator, I just bowl. But I can do some work on my own, such as removing and replacing outersleeves (OS) and custom slugs in an innersleeve (Turbo SG). I've reviewed videos and have reached out to JoPo but cannot get a definitive answer to my question. Can I insta...

Re: Reacta Gloss

Glenn, thanks for the video links. Useful.
Tomahawk, damn! Royal polish! I use that now and love it. Looks like I wasted money getting the reacta gloss if Royal polish does same thing. Live and learn.
Thank you guys the all the info!

Reacta Gloss

Hello,

What exactly is Reacta Gloss? Reading the label it strikes me as a sticky polish of sorts. Is this correct? Is there a grit rating associated with it?
Does anyone use this product?

Thanks,

Viper/Joe

Re: Thumbnail splitting

Tomahawk, Here are three videos of full approach (or what I determined to be). If not usable let me know, advise, and I'll redo in the near future. Update on nail: The professionally applied acrylic nail continues to serve well. It will take probably to the end of the summer for it to grow out for m...

Re: Thumbnail splitting

John, I appreciate the information. Aging has not been fun. Seems as soon as one thing is "fixed" another breaks. (smile) I am taking the Natures Bounty product in pill form, and have been for awhile now, ahead of this present problem with my thumb. Which is perplexing. I have added anothe...

Re: Thumbnail splitting

Will do but it will take two weeks or so. I'm between leagues and using the time to give the hand a break and catch up on non-bowling stuff. I'll be back with the videos. Thanks!

Re: Thumbnail splitting

ITomahawk, I should probably take a pic of my wrist with the device for you to see (you can sort of see it in the video). It's really one of those things people fighting carpel tunnel syndrome wear for support. It's not a "proper" bowling aid, but it does keep my wrist firm. And I've been ...

Re: Thumbnail splitting

Tomahawk, thank you for your input. I change my inserts every 60 games. Religiously. I keep a card on each ball with all the information, date games thrown, number of games, resurfacing, etc. I do use rubbing alcohol to clean the thumb hole, and I also use white tape in the front of the hole, either...

Re: Thumbnail splitting

Let me know if these work for you. If not, I can re-do. Let me know what angle you are looking for.

As for the video, I've researched the Wiki and FAQ but don't see how I can upload. File too large for me to add as attachment.

Again, I appreciate the help.

Thumbnail splitting

Thumb (2).jpg Hello and Good Evening! In search of a possible solution to a very recent problem with my thumb (left, I'm left-hand). I'm a senior in my 70's, having taken up 10-pin bowling 15 years ago. I use a Turbo SG with a custom molded insert (which is glued into an innersleeve). My fit was a ...

Eric, perfect! Can you tell me where the pin will end up being relative to my finger holes? Sorry, but I can never visualize a layout. Again, thanks for the help, very much appreciated.

Re: Question on Ball Specs

Eric, appreciate your explanation and recommendation for a layout. Regarding the thumb hole depth, I use a Turbo SG. I believe that depth is approx 3 1/2. So less flare then? Or is there a tweak to the layout? Or a work around (such as drilling a "pilot" hole of a smaller diameter than the...

Question on Ball Specs

Hello. I have a Track 505A which I am attempting to replace with something close. Found a Track Kinetic Amethyst. The 505A has a 4-5" pin and is laid out 55 x 4.25 x 29. The pin is squarely above the fingers. This ball is definitely angular, allows me to move right (I am LH) into the oil when m...

Re: Crown Factory Compound

Glenn, Thanks! I wrote a rep at Brunswick about the Crown compound. His response: "Crown products are sold under the Brunswick name. When put on a laser scanner, we found balls that were sanded with 500-1000 then ad (sic) Crown Factory Compound applied measured at about 4500-4800 grit." I ...
