Re: Nickel drill by Michelle Mullen

Paraphrasing Coach Mullen Try this sometime Swing drill by way of Michelle Mullen (spelling), met her, was coached by her when she held a seminar at ASU. You will need a nickel and dry hands ;) Place the nickel in the palm of your hand, keep the hand OPEN, place and swing it, do not lose the nickel...

Re: Gripping holes

Also, who's going to go up and spot check every bowler throwing every ball? That's the challenge. Right nowonce in a while I don't use my middle finger especially if the lanes are hooking too much or I am shooting for my 7 pin (I am a lefty). So this means I will be guilty violating this rule comes...

Gripping holes

From WB Statutes and Rules 4.11.6 A maximum of five gripping holes are allowed in a bowling ball. The athlete must use each hole. Any hole, which is not used, is considered a balance hole (which are not allowed after August 1, 2020). Will this mean that by Aug 2020 Bowlers who delivers the ball not ...

Re: Talent Code

Hi Jim,

I did read this as you recommended in one of our private messages. Still absorbing the information though I have incorporated some of the learning in our routine training and practice sessions. Actually we coined the deep practice part as SAD (Slow And Deliberate) :D

I find the illustrations and/or examples truly helpful especially that of the top view which we seldom see in other released videos. Good work by Gutter Bowler

Re: USBC New Ball Specs

Ok, but what if its under WB, so it has to be sanctioned..i am talking about a major comp, world wide bowlers. Also IS USBC not under WB? Or a totally separate body? Exactly my point why'd I asked. Are they any different immune for the lack of better term from WB? Though as Jim mentioned, WB do not...

Re: No more motion hole

I asked Mo this question, but I cannot find where just yet. I will keep looking. What he told me was to use a drilling angle of 85* and a Val angle of 35* on an asymmetrical ball to try and get the same reaction as the Motion hole on a symmetrical. I don't remmember the exact pin distance, but I re...

Hook set reaction is a very early reaction achieving roll way before hitting the pins. A very long roll phase.
Thanks Eric.

Re: USBC New Ball Specs

This is USBC. I wonder what would be World Bowling's position would be. Or are they just going to follow suit?

Re: Adjusting BEFORE Disaster Strikes

How about for the lefties who have few or none at all in the pair except him/her? What other things he/she should be watching aside from the ball motion down the lane and the way the ball enters the rack?

Fair enough, I didn't consider the OP being outside of the US. It was the: that I went with. Apologies spmc for not being thorough I should have mentioned in "YouTube" :D Anyway, I am referring to all sort of competition not only the elite ones where organizers gives out the pattern info....

Re: How is scoring pace determined?

I was just attempting to answer the above question. Jhun lives in the Philippines, so perhaps later he can respond and see if his question was answered. Hi Jim, this is what I am looking for to start with. So the lower the ratio based on the composite info the harder it gets. As usual thank you!

How is scoring pace determined?

I've been watching PBA and PWBA shows and a part of that show is that they analyze to the viewer the oil pattern and where the players would probably be playing. Every time they do that analysis they will determine if the scoring pace will be low, medium or high. So my question is given the pattern ...

Re: Follow-up to Article Research

In our country this is not being checked (at least for all I know) and really haven't heard any coaches here talk about this. In the videos it is interesting to note that 3 mils difference is a lot! So what are the adjustments if you have hints that the lanes are uneven, i.e. sloped to the right, sl...

Re: UFO/Spinning Bowling Technique(Leave tips here too)

I am new here, but I play Spinner/UFO for almost 10 years. I've never played in a real league and never contributed to any bowling forum. My avg is not high either, approximately 170 a game. I don't know if my point is valid to share. But I do have lot of lesson about Spinner/UFO style, is any of y...
