Re: Team Captain Duties, Functions, and Authority
Unless we are talking about a "competitive" league with LOTS of money there is no reason to sit someone. We are talking about RECREATION bowling (most of the time). So now we "sit" people in a rec league because they cannot bowl? Come on.

Re: Cold Showers and Mental Game
Recently made a trip down to Kegal for a "tune up" and while the hands on, cameras and teaching was very helpful.......one thing said has stuck with me since. "Do not THINK when you step onto the approach."

Re: League etiquette advice - help needed
When YOU pay YOU bowl. Unless you are doing more damage to YOU I have no issue with you bowling. Seems as if you got with someone who typically blames others when they bowl bad (which is probable every week). Keep it up!

Re: "Bowlings Future Rests in 2 hands, not 1" by Dave Lever
While I do believe we will see more and more 2 handers........... I do not agree that the "future" of bowling depends on it. There will always be great bowlers who bowl with 1 hand approach. I just hope the governing body doesn't do something to discourage anyone from bowling with 2 hands.

Re: Suggestions for enhancements to Xtra Frame
I looked back at my post from over 2 years ago and wanted to say that there have been upgrades made since then. My biggest complaint now is the mics being left on with no commentary. I had to turn it off during one show due to the profanity being "shared" by someone talking right behind th...

Re: Having carpal tunnel surgery soon.
It seems different for each person. I waited until Dr gave ok which was about 4 weeks. Wore brace BUT make SURE to have your span checked as you might experience others issues. Never changed weight either. Good luck!

League Schedule for Divisions
Today we were talking about the upcoming Winter Men's League. Currently we have 3 division and 3 quarters. For 2 of those quarters we bowling only those in our division. The rational for the change to this system was we had a team that ended the last 6 weeks of regular bowling in the lower division ...

Let me suggest you watch the ball being thrown. The guide is a good starting point but I have been surprised by some of those balls!todvan wrote:I may stick with Motiv for awhile since they make it easy to pick the next ball to fit your needs with their Ball Guide.

Re: Motiv
Lucky people! I have been throwing Motiv since I went down to 14lb about 3 years ago. Never got a "free" or "cheap" ball and not on "staff" (although wouldn't mind!). Have only had 1 issue with a ball, and I have around 14. It was with the Forza and the label. Motiv rep...

Re: Any Suggestions for Video Cam
I've been looking at the GoPro 4 Black. It shoots 120fps in full HD 1080p. Can't get much better than that with dropping a bunch of bucks. You can pick one up on Ebay for about $400. Thanks. That confirms it for me. Was at Best buy and the guy showed me that very one. I also like the fact you could...

Took off the brace this week to try and determine if it is the cause of my elbow pain. So far so good. I finished tonight with very little to no pain. Hope that was it.

Re: What is a fair handicap system
Our 36 week league is divided into 3 segments of 12 weeks each. The winner of each segment is in the year-end playoff. The bowler's average used in the playoff is their highest segment average. This helps prevent people from laying down if they win the first or second segment. This is very interest...

Any Suggestions for Video Cam
I am looking for a better than average Digital Video Recorder for use in Coaching. Wondering if anyone has a suggestion? Specifically want to be able to slow motion and zoom on hand release. Thanks. I have a difficult time using my cell phone so thought someone on this site could help!

Re: Wrist support?
Funny you mention this. After having hand surgery last summer I went to a wrist device (mongoose). I had never used one before but on the advice of my Dr I did. Good news is I actually raised my average almost 15 pins. Bad news, and I cannot say this problem is due to the brace, I started having iss...

Re: Unannounced Lane Inspections?
I agree. It's all about the all might $$$. Could you imagine your locally owned center being decertified due to failing an inspection? We have a center who "hires" the inspector to come certify the lanes! Really? No surprise inspections in this city. NONE.

Re: Position Rounds in League Play
We have 3 quarters in our Men's league with each team who wins the quarter getting a $100. Position rounds gives several teams a chance at that money if it ends up close which it usually is.

Re: Robert Smith Podcast "are heavy pins the answer" any vid
I think the point Gary is making here is 240 on what? What is the par condition? League conditions? I'd hope not. The comment was there are no "legit" 240 average bowlers. That, imo, is false. I gave 2 names. I could care less if Weber, Rash, Williams or Belmo bowl on PBA conditions or le...

Re: Robert Smith Podcast "are heavy pins the answer" any vid
Curious- what was Sean's and Pete's PBA average last year? In fact what and who had the top 5 PBA averages last year? Think Belmo was top last year around 226/7? Pete was around 223 and 234 on PBA50 or somewhere close. But in league play last year Rash was around 241 and Weber the same. Easier cond...

Re: Robert Smith Podcast "are heavy pins the answer" any vid
He/she is not necessarily a 240 average bowler (there isn't such a creature-yet). With all due respect Gary I can name 2 off the top of my head who are 240 bowler's who I would certainly consider legit.......Sean Rash and Pete Weber. And while I do agree with you that many today are not legit let's...
