Shot Tracking Info?

Some time ago, I can’t remember where, I saw a spreadsheet that allowed you to track where you’re standing, your target/breakpoint and the results from your shot from that. I wanted to provide some of the people I help with this, but I can’t seem to find t anymore. Does anyone remember what I’m refe...

Re: Perplexed...

What is the length of your thumb? What was the result of your "can" test? Do you have or feel a burn on the pad of the thumb as well? From base to tip, my thumb is 2 3/4". My can test came out with 1/8 positive (right) pitch but I used 1/4 right in my new pitch. I have no rubbing or ...

Re: Perplexed...

Yeah I've definitely gone through the wiki and done the can test with the thumb angle chart which is how I arrived to my current pitches thinking that would help. I linked a picture of my thumb and my hand in the ball. It's not super clear but it's the left side of my thumb which would be the right ...

Perplexed...

I imagine I'm like a lot of guys, I've changed my span and pitches so many times trying to get that perfect feel that I don't know which way is up anymore. I can't seem to get a good feel in my balls anymore. I have no problem fixing it for customers, but when it comes to me, I'm lost. A little abou...

Re: Exactly how strong is the Hy-Road Pearl?

I've thrown every release in the Storm/Roto line luckily so allow me to throw some insight your way. First of all, basically what we are looking to compare is how each ball responds to friction. I'll throw my stats in here for comparison and tell you what I get out of each ball. PAP: 4 1/16 right an...

Win a free ball!

Hey, everyone. I just started a page (finally) for my pro shop on Facebook. If you go and like the page, you will receive an entry into the drawing to win a Lord Field Korrupt. For every share (limit one per day) you will receive an additional entry per day. Drawing will be held on April 15th, which...

Re: what ball for Nats

I would mix a stronger solid cover ball in there, honestly. If you're a Storm guy, a sync or Vivid would be good. Your high rotation mixed with a medium rev rate and medium speed combo is going to limit your miss room, especially on two fresh squads unless you're going with a heavy-handed team who c...

Re: USBC Masters Rule

If you think about it, it's McNiel's fault. He knew going into this that if he made the show it would happen. If he went to the tournament thinking he wouldn't have a chance to make the show then he should have never bowled. It's a moot point now because he lost but he knew he was using non-approved...

Re: Very strange

I'm not surprised. A low differential ball with a higher RG mixed with a 140* drill sum and a 5 3/4" pin. Don't be afraid to use smaller angles. I'd say something like a 35 x 5 x 70 would work better. If you think of the balls you own, think of what hooks really well for you and then measure th...

Re: Storm question...

If you are passing on a ball simply because of the smell, then in my opinion, you were never really filling a spot in your bag that NEEDED filled. If there was a ball out there that filled a gap that would get me a few extra hits in a tournament, I don't care if it smelled like a used diaper filled ...

Re: New Benchmark Ball for THS

Storm IQ Tour is one of the best house shot balls ever made in my opinion. I can't tell you how many I have drilled up for customers and they have loved them. It's also an amazing ball on tougher conditions with how smooth it rolls. You can't go wrong with it, but don't be afraid to drill it strong.

Mav, the Heritage is one of the most angular and continuous asymmetricals I've thrown in a very long time. I actually own two and they are really, really good. If you haven't thrown one yet I would highly recommend you do. But some more asymmetricals will be hitting the market. I think Tony was just...

Re: Voodoo Layout

Very great insight, BluePrint! I tried the Blueprint trial and I loved it and I think it's a great tool, I simply can't afford it since I only manage the pro shop here and I don't own it. It's really beneficial and I could see it working out for anything. I am trying this layout next week on a custo...

Re: Voodoo Layout

That may be true if you're working with normal pin to pap distances. But keep in mind that the pin is placed 3-4" above the ring finger. So super long pin distances can end up with small Val angles.

Re: Voodoo Layout

The dual angle they refer to was what was measured after drilling. From what I was inferring, they picked a pin distance above the fingers, then placed the hole, then measured what the dual angle came out to be.

Re: Voodoo Layout

I'll give that a try John. I imagine the change the balance hole makes will make the track shift toward the hole so maybe ill try and think of something.

I will have to look for a documented drilling for it. Like I said, I saw it in the bowlers journal pro shop magazine.

Voodoo Layout

I was reading the Pro Shop Operators magazine by Bowlers Journal and it listed the Voodoo layout, invented by Dave Kreuter. It basically mentions it as a layout that low rev customers of his have had real success with. It puts the pin 3-4" above the fingers and a 1" balance hole 4" de...

Re: Proshop Prices ?

Well I don't own the shop, I simply manage it. The bowling alley owns it so they sort of have the pro shop there as a service to the bowlers, not necessarily to make the largest profit they can. It's why we are successful, we keep our prices lower than everyone else. If I were trying to make a livin...

Re: Proshop Prices ?

I charge $10 a hole for plugging and it includes redrilling I don't charge different prices for reactive versus plastic, my prices differentiate on fingertip vs. conventional drillings. I charge $30 for convential drills and $40 for fingertip. Of course, drilling is always free when the ball is boug...

Re: Anyone ever have this problem?

Have your lane conditions changed or are others having similar problems? -- JohnP My lane conditions change all the time. I do hit several regional PBA stops per season and do bowl in a few sport shot leagues. That's why I'm so confused as to why all of a sudden these new balls make no consistent m...
