Re: Just for fun: No-thumb layout (fingers in the MB), pin about 8 inches out.

Interesting project.
I think you will reverse flare and the ball will roll forward.
You're about 1.25" beyond 6.75" Pin to PAP, which would put you at 5.5" from NAP, a forward rolling pin position.

Re: Ball Fit Advice

My ball feels comfortable given my anatomy. However, I am unable to not hold the weight of the ball using the base of my thumb (80%) and fingers (20%). This led me to question whether or not I should move to a forward pitch and adjust the other variables to fit the anatomical specs of my hand Most ...

Re: Ball Fit Advice

Okay, good to know. If I were to go into a pro shop for pitch changes, is it reasonable to ask for a drilling with forward pitch even though my current drilling has reverse in the thumb? I honestly can't afford to keep making minor pitch changes by plugging and re-drilling. How much forward pitch s...

Re: Laying Out Old Urethane Balls

Find the pin and use the PBA Plastic Ball Layout in the wiki without the balance hole.

Re: Transition Ball and Layout

Something cover dominant to smooth it out.
Layout depends on the bowler, lane surface and condition being bowled on.

Me? My Method Solid seems to cure all that ails me in this scenario.
80 x 4 x 80 with Grey Scotch Brite surface.
A magic ball for me.

Can anything be done about Mo's old posts? That yellow text is REALLY hard to read now.
I've converted all of Mo's posts to the default text color.
Same with MathIsTruth.

I've kept it real simple for me, personally.
Symmetricals outside 15 at the arrows, asymmetricals inside 15 at the arrows. :)

Is this on every lane in the centres?
In one of them, yes, but I havent walked down every single lane and looked, we're still in COVID restrictions in New York, so I cant wander.

Re: Wide Pockets

To answer the question, pins placed dead on spot creates the highest scoring potential. There are not as many really good lane maintenance people in the industry. The end result is machinery that is not very well maintained and off-spot pins are just one of many issues. AMF machines in particular a...

Wide Pockets

Something I've been noticing bowling in 1 league and subbing, has anyone else noticed with the 0 unit rule, proprietors offsetting the headpins to the left? It allows the guys that stuff the ball in front of the headpin to strike more and guys that play in to strike less with more angle. I've seen i...

Makes sense. Should a bowler be capable of throwing a ball with different pitches (reverse AND forward) if the hole is tight enough? Or is a specific pitch required to reduce grip pressure?
The fit should be as anatomically neutral/natural as possible.

If you need to put tape on the side of your thumb, your thumb hole is too big.

Re: Mo's new layouts

Mo’s intention for the new layouts was to make it easier for people who may not have the knowledge base or understanding as many of the people on this forum. He always had the goal of making bowling more fun for more people. A common part of my work for Mo was to virtually drill bowling balls to de...
